  1. Reading this it looks like we aren't doing too badly - 18 booked in for the remainder of 2025, with a few more expected. We're a (hobby) pub covers band playing the north Kent coastal towns plus a couple of local festivals, all with maximum drive of 20 miles to a venue. For me about 24 gigs a year is ideal, two a month keeps it fresh but allows time for rehearsals and to add new material. This year's set is 50% changed from last year which keeps us (me!) on our (my!) toes.
  2. Being a DC Tribute player myself, I'd be interested in knowing how different the upgrade sounded on yours. What strings are you using?
  3. I'll be interested to read your report back on this. I have the 500 which is the same other than slightly lower output power. It is a great amp, underrated. My only criticism is that you don't really need both the vintage and overdrive channels as you can replicate the vintage with the overdrive if you only need a single sound (which suits me) - but it is useful if your core sound is vintage, to be able to used overdrive as a boost on the footswitch or for a contrasting tone.
  4. I've fitted a Hosco bridge on my Musicmaster, the version with two compensated saddles that lock off at the correct angle so each takes two strings. A really good piece of kit. If you need a photo let me know.

done. Will you publish your results here? It would be really interesting to know what are the outcomes.
  6. I found this link to an article about Hatters Hall - shame I can't see your bass in any of the photos. Have you tracked it down yet? https://favershamlife.org/hatters-hall/
  7. Actually it is a second hand gear shop rather than a pawn shop. The same chap runs the place as back in 2016, perhaps drop him a line to see if he remembers it. It isn't as though it isn't distinctive. I haven't seen a local muso playing it.
  8. Was the shop Hatter's Hall? That's the only (music) pawn shop I know of around here. I look in their window regularly, can't say I recall it. Good luck with your search.
  9. Something I've found helpful to getting an even and consistent tone is having the amp set just a little louder that it needs to be - so I can play within myself and concentrate on good/expressive finger or plectrum contact without having to worry about playing hard to get volume. Then the volume is there when you need a bit extra.
  10. I've got a Gator case for mine, it needs some padding to raise/support the body but it works fine. Sorry, I've no idea which model it is.
  11. Both are amazing videos, I've learned so much from watching/hearing him play.
  12. Best wishes for 2025 to all, but especially the organisational team at BC who do a brilliant job in providing such an amazing forum.
  13. Our amazing front woman left early autumn. The set was built around her (think Beth Hart). We were lucky to recruit a fantastic new singer almost immediately, but she is very different even for songs within the same genre. It is interesting seeing other band members adapt (or not) to find material to best suit her voice.
  14. Anyone wanting to learn about customer service should watch the David Mamet play / film 'Glengarry Glen Ross'.
  15. Fender Bassman 500 amp for sale. WAS £650, THEN £600, NOW £550, Now £500 - one pound per watt! All is full working order and in 'as new' condition. A fabulous piece of kit, only selling as I am pruning the gear ahead of retirement. The Vintage channel is a classic passive tonestack, wonderful for blues, motown etc. The Overdrive channel has active eq for a massive range of tones, plus oodles of blendable drive from the twin valve preamp. All bass and treble eq controls have a push/pull for deep/high. To characterise the amp, I'd say it is smooth, clean and sweet sounding, with a bit of grit available if you so wish. As it is Class D it is a one finger lift. Complete with Roqsolid cover and Fender footswitch (to change channels). If interested you're welcome to come to try it. Collection only from Faversham, Kent.
  16. I hate it if I miss the string with my pleccy on the first beat of the bar - it sounds like the band has swallowed a fart.
  17. Hope your gig goes well tonight.
  18. Lovely little tuner, in vgc and all works fine. Really bright, clear display. with velcro underneath. +£5 p&p
  19. Vong Filterung, all in good working order. This is a really useful piece of kit, a variable HPF and LPF, a polarity change and a DI. This pedal has had a repair, about three years ago the mains socket worked loose, it was replaced (by a professional) and it has been fine since. When the work was done I asked if the tec would put some calibration marks on the casing which he did in pencil - the casing is a bit grubby as I've been reluctant to clean it. With velcro underneath. + £5 postage

  21. Fender Bassman Neo 1x15 cab, in mint/as new condition, with Roqsolid cover and casters. Fab piece of kit. Any trial welcome. Only selling as I'm parting with my surplus gear pre- calling it a day. NOW SOLD Collection from Faversham.

  22. remember that the request is to play along to a backing track, not just silent practice.
  23. I've got the Rumble 500 combo and it is brilliant.
  24. This is what I've been using for about five years now, it is perfect for playing the bass on its own or along to you tube clips or rehearsal recordings stored on my laptop. You should be able to get a Scarlett and cheap set of headphones for £100. You can put pedals between the bass and the Scarlett too.
  25. It doesn't include gear insurance, it is just PLI. We recently changed a band member in the line up and Allianz didn't charge for updating our policy, which must be a first for an insurance company.
