I think this looks fantastic as does the super P Bass they also do
-
I played the same model in PMT Manchester. I had read many great reviews of these basses and it was under consideration to come home with me. Once I tried it I was left very unimpressed with it. It may have been the set up , which was way too high for me but the tone and sound also left me feeling disappointed. Compared to my Farida Jazz which is made in the same factory at the squire it came a distant second. This was a brand new model which had a pretty high price tag and would definitely of benefited from a good set up. I assume the one you are considering is a a fair bit less than the asking price of a new one. In fairness I thought the CV looked great and the build quality looked spot on

Was in Manchester PMT and they had sunburst Yamaha BB 1024x for £350. Great value. If I didn't already have one I would of bought it

Farida P bass has a super slim jazz style neck, excellent build quality and cheap enough to mod it to exactly how you it. Mine has a an SD Quater Pounder in and sounds fantastic

Went to see Albert Lee in Manchester without knowing any of his songs or hearing anything he's done before. Absoloultley blown away by his talent, fantastic band, fantastic gig. Now checking out some of his back catalogue

Yes fully recoverd now. Things like that though do change your perspective, it's always easy to assume some one else is going to help somebody out and not get involved. At least that's what I've probably done in the past. Hopefully I've now got a better perspective now

The kindness is strangers never ceases to amaze me. I have recently benefited from such an act. After a 4 hour Rehersal I was getting ready to pack my gear up when I was struck with what turned out to be a severe bout of Labryithits which effects your inner ear. I could barley stand up and was extremely nauseas and in no position to drive home. I had a car full of bass gear, miles from home and not able to stand up straight. The owner of the Rehersal studio who I had never met or spoken to before noticed I was still outside the building and in some distress when he was locking up. He checked me over then told me to sit in the passenger seat. He then jumped into the driver seat and drove me and all my equipment home, while his wife followed behind in their car. This was such an unexpected gesture and greatly appreciated as I was totally incapacitated with the attack of Labryinthits that I had no way of getting home. This guy was a real star who went out of his way to help a stranger when he could of just locked up his premises and drove straight past me. He is deffinatley due some good karma

My Bands Website (opinions please)
mikeycrikey replied to 4-string-thing's topic in General Discussion
Agree with most of the above comments. Really liked the simplicity of the black and white theme. Bold vivid colour seem to be very old hat these days. Some of the colour photos are not up to the same standard as the black and whites, so I would definitely remove them until you have more good quality images to upload. Video can be a great tool for your web site but the same rule applies. If the quality of the image what your presenting isn't up to scratch then hang on till you and the band have got something your really happy to put out there. Harks back to the old adage of you get one chance to make a first good impression. Stick at it though, I liked what you have done so far -
Great stuff, loved his playing

I have the 424x with TI Flats on it. It does a fantastic impression of the Motown sound. It also offers so many other useable tones and feels fantastic to play.

Just traded my Musicman SUB with Dunc. Excellent communications all the way through. Easy transaction. Dunc is real nice guy and very friendly. Would definitely deal with him again and would recommend him to anyone Mike

Done a trade with Martyn for his Mark Bass 15 inch cab. Was a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely buy from Martyn again
Did you try lowering the J pickup a bit?
I haven't tried that, I just assumed the J pick had a. Lot more output. Will give it try as soon as I get a chance.
-
I have the 424x which plays great and sounds great. However I feel the J pick up is slightly more dominant than the P pick up. I tried a 1024x in PMT in Manchester and found the P pickup to be more of a match for the J in terms of output. The 1024x didn't feel any better in my hands than the 424x and as the asking price was £860 I didn't think it was worth the extra money. I ended up keeping the 424x and buying an ibanez SR500. I now have two different sounding basses that I am happy with that still worked out cheaper than the extra money the 1024x would of cost.

quick question: USA stingray SUB nut width...
mikeycrikey replied to goonieman's topic in Bass Guitars
Just measured the neck on my MM sub and it was 44 mm at the nut and 57mm at the 12th fret give or take a millimetre to allow for my dodgy glasses. Hope it helps -
Just checked my Ampeg B108 and it's 25 watts not 20
-
I use a 20 watt Ampeg B108 for home practice. It's more than loud enough for my needs .

I would definitely report it. If you don't have a try then you will have no chance at getting your stuff back. There is a slim chance he may still have some of the more obscure items that would be hard to shift. If so and the police find him in possession of them you can at least take some satisfaction in seeing him arrested. Good luck in whatever course you take.

Good luck in nailing this. I have been attempting this on and off for ages. Get so far then give up again but every time I come back to it a I get a little bit further

Just bought a BB424x from Mark. Pleasure to deal, great communication and a real decent chap. Would definitely buy from Mark again
