Awesome, cheers!

I'm probably way behind the curve here, but just a heads up for anyone not aware, the full documentary is now up on YouTube. Tha ads are a bit brutal in terms of frequency and length, but there's some really lovely stuff in there.

I popped in after work to pick up a combo from Kim. Couldn't have been an easier, friendlier transaction. Great to deal with.

Is longer scale length more forgiving for poor intonation?
NickD replied to Ajoten's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I assume so. I'm generally in tune in the money zone, getting a bit worse as I start doing big shifts or getting up the dusty end. On a 34" scale fretless I'm a disaster. -
What's your fantasy Lotto jackpot bass gear shopping list?
NickD replied to Painy's topic in General Discussion
I think I'm pretty happy with the gear I have for my current needs. I think the biggest change would be that I'd be playing it in a remote farmhouse somewhere in southern Spain. 😂🤞 -
I have the Tonedexter 2, and I'm pretty happy with it. I trained it with the Lifeline and a Remic red, a T-Bone and an SM 57. I ran it on a run of festivals last summer (mandolin/octave mandolin, vox, drums and bass) and I felt that it sounded good. There have been a number of updates rolled out since last spring when I got it too. Apparently they've improved the accuracy of the training algorithm, added a 90 second looper so you can playback after training and dial in EQ, HPF, etc , to your taste, and they've added reverb options too. I've not had chance to experiment with any of that stuff yet though, but I plan to get down to the rehearsal space and spend a few hours trying to get if even better for this summer.

I'm pleased with the Lifeline. It's a touch more defined on my bass than the copperhead, a little less dark. Also, it seems to have a higher feedback threshold, which is a bonus.

I had a Realist Sounclip from Rabbie. Couldn't have been an easier experience. Great communication, quick to post, really well packed and in great condition. Many thanks!

Way too good for the recycling centre. In great condition, runs all my usual apps without issue. Nice screen, battery lasts a full day of heavy use. Open to any network and will take a micro SD card to give extra storage. I'm a fan of the Motorola G series, as they have big batteries and run a really stock version of android, without tons of bloatware. I've moved on to another G phone with more memory, as I'm having to pass along a lot of large videos as I create content for various projects. Uses a USB-C charger, which isn't included, but I'm sure we've all got a few lying around somewhere. A fiver for postage and it's yours.

Bill bought my Elwood L5. The whole thing couldn't have been an easier, more pleasant transaction. An absolute pleasure to deal with!

Woke up to see the news on FB. Such a shame. It was always great to run into Nick, just a great Fella to be around. He was a hell of s player, and always very generous with his time and knowledge. My condolences to his family and those close to him.

On Hold - Maruszczyk Elwood L5 A 24 - Flame Maple Top - 3.65 Kilos - *SOLD*

Maruszczyk Elwood L5 A24. The chambered, light version of the Elwood. Coming in at about 3.65 kilos by my bathroom scale. Alder body, with a lovely, subtle flame maple top, that's not too showy, but really comes alive under stage lighting. Maple neck and board with 24 frets plus a zero fret. Balances great on a strap. 34 inch scale length, 19mm string spacing. Haussel Pickups, jazz in the neck and a mini-humbucker at the bridge with a series/parallel/single switch. To be honest there's not that much difference to my ears between the series and single settings, but the parallel option gives it a nice additional punch. Delano preamp, with pull passive on the volume knob in case of battery disasters, balance, bass and treble. Comes with a Maruszczyk gig bag which is in good order, has useful pockets and rucksack straps, one of the zip tags has been replaced with a key ring though Sounds great and plays really nicely, it's just not getting much use due to double bass stuff. I'm afraid I don't have the means to ship. £800 collected from Bushey, Herts.

A lovely, full sounding and bloody loud combo. It's had a very easy life, and consequently is in excellent condition. It must have left the house all of half a dozen times in the 7 years I've had it, being mostly used at home, but on the odd occasion I've had it down at the rehearsal room it's been a monster in terms of volume and tone. Plenty of flexibility in the controls, and a pretty easy one hand carry. Sadly, when I have the double bass, the Mrs's drums/cymbals/hardware, and assorted sundries in the car it's a little too big to slot in, which is a pity, as it works great for double bass too. Comes with a Hotcovers fitted cover, which is also in excellent condition. £475 collected from Bushey, Herts.

*ON HOLD* Audio Sprockets ToneDexter II 2024 - *SOLD*
NickD replied to Kevsy71's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
I've been gigging one of these over the Summer, and it's been absolutely excellent. Dead easy to train, really flexible, and the most recent software update (which seem to come pretty frequently) has improved the whole process, and now allows you to create a loop so you can play it back while dialling in refinements to the wavemap. Best of luck with the sale, although you shouldn't need it! -
I sold a bass bow to Si. As usual a perfectly smooth, friendly transaction... Until the point at which Royal Mail Special Delivery decided to not be very special. We got it sorted in the end though. Thanks for your patience!

While it's true the JTone probably isn't the greatest pickup on earth, I always found there was enough flexibility in the Platinum Pro to get a decent sound from it with whatever amp I would find in a rehearsal room.

Someone had to... But it is a classic! -
Not particularly a fan of Soft machine, but bloody hell, Fred Baker and Araf Sirkis on Drums... I'd have turned out to see that! Fred Baker was a friend of my course director at college back in the late 80s, and he'd come in and do a Masterclass type thing every now and again... he was a beast even then.

P&H Carbon Bow - French Pattern - *SOLD*
NickD replied to NickD's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale

Used maybe half a dozen times at home before I borrowed a German bow from my teacher and went down that path. Those that know more than me were surprised by how decent it is, nicely balanced and works well. These P&H bows can be rehaired at home, which was what attracted me in the first place. They sell the hanks and there's a video on their website showing you how. It's nice quality, which is why when I finally got around to replacing it, I replaced it with the German pattern version of the same bow. Always wiped down after use, and the hair is in good condition. PMT have a black Friday sale on them at the moment, and I'm pitching this well below that at 75 quid delivered to mainland UK https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/p-h-d-bass-bow-carbon-composite-ebony-frog-4-4-3-4?&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=2203_PMT_BAU_Search_Google+Ads_Performance+Max_Product_High+Volume&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgJa6BhCOARIsAMiL7V_OyFGfZQzu2ZNf718nLihDf6R48qBhJM-P9ZGoxs4JZFEKlyWEz_waAjuJEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Steff bought a Shuker from me. In typical Basschat style, the whole experience was easy and pleasant. A pleasure to meet you, and I hope the bass does all you need it to.
