  1. Errr.... Blimey! 🤣
  2. See... Keep Talking for me as every bit as good as anything else... Vive la difference!
  3. I'm far from an expert in songwriting, but for example on Echoes, the double compilation, the pre and post sit seamlessly for me, with only the Barrett era stuff jarring a little.
  4. I do like what he does, but he seems like such an entitled bellend... Lord knows how hard he must have been to work with. I think the problem is that he thinks that he IS Pink Floyd, and I'm sure for some he is, but not for me, nor legally for that matter. Their output is consistent (after Barrett made his exit) and his departure made no difference IMO. I suspect he sees that, and hates it.
  5. Hmmmm.... I've got a Sharpie, a belt sander, and a Helix... 🤔
  6. Awesome!
  7. Caught that a couple of weeks ago... I've been listening to Cold Fact ever since!
  8. I'm amazed this is still around, it's a beautiful thing!
  9. I figure if this guy can coordinate this, anything is possible!
  10. I do like that.... Shades of Tuxedo Moon in there too!😎
  11. That would be my Jake... at least it fits the criteria for me!
  12. I would imagine, if voice is your instrument, it's just like anything else.... about contributing to the whole, and being among the overall sound, playing your part. Like a DB player in an orchestra counting 80 bars of rest, or a guitarist in a pop band throwing in simple chords one to the bar, or a bass player banging through Mustang Sally yet again. It's not about you, it's about the piece and the audience.
  13. Brubeck's 'Take Five' for my entry. Just for the comfort of knowing, in my final hours, that the pallbearers will be tripping over their feet, and there's potential for them dropping my coffin.
  14. That's one of the tunes that's always touted as an example of funky slap.... and it's alright, suits the song, etc.... It's just not my kind of groove. It's not funky like Flashlight funky, it's not funky like What is Hip? funky, it's not funky like Superstition funky.... It's just not my kind of funky.
  15. Dear God! If a R*ckenbacker f*£$%d a Fodera and the offspring was dropped on it's head as a baby bass. Don't let John Hall see that top horn or headstock... he'll sue. Having said that, he can only dream of that level of build quality!
  16. I do have a bunch of pic discs in my Mum's loft, I must get to go through them one of these days. I know some were reasonably rare. When I was very young I bought Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Welcome to the Pleasure Dome, gatefold, that had side one on both sides of disc one... Like a fool it went back to Woolies!
  17. The only thing I have against slap is the sound of it. Even in the hands of a master it just sounds like a novelty parlour trick to me. I can't think of a piece of music that I love that has slap in it.
  18. My contribution to this month's composition challenge, inspired by the image selected by last month's winner, bobbass4k.
  19. A brilliant deal (and a top bloke to deal with). I'm pretty much committed to the Helix now, and sat on a ton of pedals, from budget to boutique, but when I get round to moving them on it's my Dapper that's staying as backup. The Octaver is the OC-10, the filter is phenomenally useable, the compressor is musical and the chorus is.. erm... a chorus. It's obscene what this thing does for practically no money!
  20. *Closes Cubase, unplugs computer and pours a beer* Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner! 😎
  21. Hmmm ... Best to stick to the root!
  22. Looks awful.... I love it! Obviously good for metal. 🤘
  23. If you have an xlr to jack I'd definitely be tempted to have a play around, it'll cost nothing to try. There are preamp type things in there, with some nice reverbs available too... It's entirely possible that with an hours plating you could fluke a result.
  24. I'm going to skip the overrated bit, cos the subjectivity involved tends towards meanness. There's shedloads of stuff I don't like or don't get, some obviously decent, some obviously crap. Underrated - I'll never understand why the Wildhearts aren't bigger than they are. Album after album of great tunes, and a phenomenal live act at their best. Ditto Jellyfish. Spilt milk is a work of art, it should have been everywhere at the time, but it was largely ignored. As soon as spring comes around I'm drawn to listening to it, and it's as perfect now to me as it was on first listening. Trouble. The end of the 80s was a pretty stale time for the more traditional rock/metal scene IMO, and I bought the 1990 self titled album on spec, knowing nothing about it other than from the band shot on the front it might be my thing.... It was that day I discovered that it was possible to shoehorn groove into those kind of songs. 30 Years later and its still a favourite. I bought Soundgarden's Louder than Love and Alice in Chains' Facelift around the same time, and though more rooted in the past it still stood proudly alongside them for me.
  25. Given how they are for getting on stage late, it'll probably be September anyway!
