  1. I got told to stay home on the Wednesday, and it would have been Stiff Little Fingers and Nev Staples on that Saturday... That's been rescheduled for September. This month would have been Nick Cave... That's now next April. 😭
  2. Everyone must be busy rehearsing and gigging.... Oh, wait...
  3. That was my first thought, but I noticed no discernible difference.
  4. Yup. Obviously I tried variations, plugging the Helix in elsewhere, ditto the laptop, removing all other plugs extensions, etc. But it's always been pretty cluttered in there, Amps, pedals, VDrums, outboard kit, etc, all without issue While it's obviously an earthing issue, it it the Helix that is the problem.
  5. I use a Steinberg UR22, which even with a 10 pedal board has always been pretty much silent. The helix is pretty noisy through that, that is to say that there's a lot of noise, it's not really that loud, I can zone it out after a while if I'm concentrating. That's mostly just whine and hum. The static sounds particularly are increased tenfold when I plug the Helix in via its usb cable. As I said, take the power supply out of the laptop and it all goes away, and it's only necessary to unplug it at the laptop end, I can leave it plugged into the mains, that's fine. Despite having a workaround it's still a bit irritating, if only for planting the seeds of doubt for if I were to encounter similar on a gig.
  6. I get the same (with an LT) whether going direct or going through a standalone interface, basically if it's hooked up to the computer in any way I get lots of background whine, buzz and rhythmic static. I found that if I unplug the charger from the laptop it all falls silent. Luckily I've got decent battery life, but I tend to tolerate it for practice and sorting sounds out, then pop the charging cable out for recording takes.
  7. Thanks! Must be on the proper desktop view... I'll check!
  8. Bugger... I didn't read properly and only voted for one... Anyone know how to start again?🤣
  9. There's still a tiny issue with Dad's track in that you can't click through to it off site... It plays fine in the browser though.
  10. When they develop one that can drive a van, set-up a PA and keep a drummer sober until after the gig, I'll start worrying.

    Bored

    Holey Crap!😱
  12. I bought the fretless 5 of this, and it's a tidy bit of kit for almost no money. Sadly it's self isolating at my Mum's house atm.🙄
  13. Well that's a pain. Damn thing won't restore from backup!😖
  14. It's rock solid.
  15. Due to an impending (now postponed) studio date for reamping a couple of tunes with octave sounds, I recently amassed a few pedals on top of the OC-10 I already had. I bought an Aguilar Octamiser, a Redwitch Factotum, a 3 Leaf Octavb're and a TC Sub n Up.... all to experiment with. When the job is done, It's highly likely that the one I keep will be the Valeton (either in it's standard form or on the Dapper Bass Strip which shares the same octaver). All of them have their own thing going on, they're all good in their own way, but there's just something about the Valeton.
  16. I've not had chance to update yet, but mine (LT) has always had the small E next to the patch name.
  17. Due to a shortage of guitarists that are as good as they think they are, I'm having to do all the guitar on our current (obviously suspended) recording. I have a lovely 7 string Ibanez that I discovered I don't really need, which will be getting sold when this is all over, but for 90% of the tracks so far I've use my beautiful (in my eyes) 1979 Westbury Standard. For the softest stuff I've used the studio's Aerodyne Strat, which is really nice, and definitely something I'd like to look at down the line.
  18. Thanks! It's good to be here... Hopefully I'll learn something!🤣
  19. Long time voter, first time entrant... I guess lockdown does have it's advantages. Based on the pic provided I've gone for a theme of rediscovering the beauty of the world in a post lockdown, clean air utopia. I'm only used to cobbling demos together for the band, so its been a voyage of discovery... turns out I know sod all about mixing, recording vocals (or singing for that matter), and a whole host of other things... still, I guess now is a good time to start learning!
  20. Some may call it that.... But not anyone who knew what they were talking about! 🤣
  21. I can do Kitchen on Fire!
  22. I'm post-pub, pre-big shop cupboard exploration adventure. Yes, I get that under any normal circumstances people aren't gonna like instant noddles with chopped chorizo and tinned mackerel in spicy tomato sauce stirred in. Indeed they may baulk and my liberal addition of five-spice, garam masala and chilli oil, and they may be appalled at my choice to serve it on a garlic and coriander naan... but screw it, this is what I've got, this is what I've decided to do, and I'm not getting paid for it, so that's what they're getting.
  23. I had that word for word on Wednesday!
  24. I've had the Markbass 121h for a few years now. I was playing in a loud rock band at the time, 2 guitars, flute, electric violin.... lots of noise. My plan was to use it in rehearsals than stick a 121h cab under it to use it's full potential when necessary.... erm.... that's still not been necessary. even running at half it's potential it cuts through beautifully and I've still had it nowhere near full volume. I might still add the cab somewhere down the line for appearances sake, but that's all it will be, I'm in a slightly more subtle band now anyway, but still with a loud drummer. The horn gives it great clarity too. I've not regretted replacing my Trace stuff for a moment, and all in a simple one handed carry.
