  1. I've been using it for ages by itself but have been gathering individual pedals for things it doesn't do as well, or doesn't do. I've been running it off a 4 gang with no issues but would like to get a proper board sorted with a single supply. I'd like to keep it as I really get on with the Chorus, down octave, comp and reverbs, plus it negates the need for a separate tuner. I'd be running a Soul Food, Tender Octaver, Freeze and possibly an Envelope Filter, so would be looking for something to power these 5 with as little noise as possible. Ideally without crippling cost, but if it requires some outlay, so be it. Does anyone use a B3 live in a mixed pedalboard, and if so what supply do you use and does it work well. Thanks in advance.
  2. Funky as ...! The 4th of October can't get here quick enough! 😎

  4. Make sure your kit is in good order. If it's original stuff and from a recording, learn it exactly as is first, then listen lots and work out how you can make it better, whether that's with tiny changes, big changes, adding stuff or (more often than not) taking stuff away. Ask them for a couple of goes and do both. You'll get an idea of each others tastes that way Finally , be you. Whatever you hide to get the gig will come out sooner or later, same for them... Better not to get the gig than discover you're incompatible after 6 months of rehearsals. Also, remember that if it's not a working gig you're auditioning them as much as they are you. I hope everything clicks.🙂
  5. I've always loved the look of these (in Natural), but never had chance to play one. Just looking at the dimensions (shorter top horn) I've always suspected a little neck dive... Is this the case or are they fine?
  6. You're more than welcome to have a mess around with both. Damn clever that Freeze... Just need to join Pink Floyd now!

  8. My Cheapy electric/acoustic has D'Addario Black Nylons on it. Sounds awesome, fat and dark. I can't imagine it sounding better with anything else.
  9. Limited edition Imaginary Gatefold Sleeve!
  10. Really liking that... Nice work Fella!
  11. I'd like to hear that! We considered doing the bass/drums/tech thing but opted for a 3 piece in the end. I honestly can't imagine wanting to go bigger than that ever again... way too much of a pain in the arris!
  12. Mine didn't show! Totally unusual for SD, I'm guessing they're floating about in the Royal Mail ether. Quick email this morning, instant reply, quick exchange of information and all sorted within 10 minutes. You never get to find out the quality of an outfits' customer service until something goes awry, and they handled it like champs. Cheers Paul if you're out there!
  13. I have a Mooer Tender Octaver that does the up octave really well, but I use it for other stuff rather than filling out the sound. What I've found best for me in our one guitar setup is my Zoom B3, using the BassDrive (Sansamp sim). I have it set pretty clean but have the expression pedal assigned to the gain parameter so that when the guitard goes off on one and I need to fill out the sound a little I just boost the grit a little using the pedal. It works well.... it'll do until something better comes along at least.
  14. I'm having a crack at this at the moment... and it's horrible! I've always stepped up for backing vocals, which sounds fine in a band context, but I've never wanted to be at the front.... the very idea horrifies me. Basically, from an organizational point of view I honestly can't be bothered with any more than a 3 piece, so it's got to happen. It's original stuff (well I 'say' original), and it doesn't help that the writing is bass & drum driven, so pretty off beat and funky, and I'm being stubborn in that I'm not prepared to sacrifice the basslines for the vocal, or the other way round, so it's just a case of having to get on with it. I hated my voice to start with, but as it's opened up with practice, there are moments (we record all rehearsals) where it just seems to work, to fit in the overall sound... so I'm trying to figure out how and why and when that happens so I can do it deliberately. I'm using Les Claypool as my motivation... if he can manage that insane stuff, surely I can get a grip on something slightly less insane.
  15. I haven't I'm afraid.. not just now. I'm away tonight but could call at the flat after work tomorrow and take one or two without a problem. The dots are where the frets should be on this one.
  16. Chowny Pitchcraft Octaver.... £40 delivered. Bought earlier this year, a cracking bit of kit... but not for me. It's an analogue Octaver, and I thought that was the sound I was after, but my muting is crap and my B string vibrations make it a little too dirty for me. On the Mrs's jazz 4 with flats it has the sound I had in my head, but I'm on fivers with rounds and it's just too much. There's a great Scott Whitley demo on YouTube showing exactly what it's capable of. Looks great, works as it should, and it's been out of the box about 3 times. It's doesn't come with a power supply, but I've been using one of my EHX ones with no bother. Trades wise, A decent Compressor (as simple as possible) a decent Envelope Filter or a decent, noise free, isolated pedalboard power supply are on my wanted list. Cheers Nick
  17. Classic Amp, big Trace watts and that classic sound. I must have had this for at least 22 years and it's never let me down, still sounds great and weighs as much as a small planet. Over time the information has worn off the back panel, but I'm sure that back in the mists of time I bought it as 150W. It's definitely not the 100W as it has the speaker out jack. Either way, most of it's gigs have been backline only in rock bands, and I don't think I've really had it past half volume and never used an extension cab. GP7 Preamp and a 15" Speaker. Amp face is clear of dings, buttons, knobs and sliders all present and correct and I had it serviced just before I stopped using it in favour of lightweight kit as some of the controls had become scratchy over time.... They're not now, everything is smooth and quiet. Titan Studios tech guy did it.... Just before he got the Slipknot bass player job! Sprung handles still spring as per the design. A few knocks in the tolex, and a bit of peeling at some of the seams that will stick down if desired. But given how many times it's been in and out of a van it's in pretty good nick. The runs you can see in the pics are just where I'd wiped it down. Pickup only for this due to the weight, and obviously it can be played through... Local meetup at a push though, but I'm in the throes of packing to move so my time is limited. Trades wise, A decent Compressor (as simple as possible) a decent Envelope Filter or a decent, noise free, isolated pedalboard power supply are on my wanted list. Cheers Nick
  18. Harley Benton B550FL Progressive, 5 string Fretless Bass. I bought this last year as a toe in the water fretless, and it's been great for that. I don't really want rid as I love playing it, but the new project has me singing, which there's no way I can do while paying attention to my intonation, plus I'm moving shortly and I need to free up some space in advance of that... So it must go. I would honestly buy another just the same if a different project came along or if I had more space, but as it is I'm keeping my 2 gigging basses and everything else is out... for now! It's only been played at home, and as far as I can see has picked up no dings. Smoke free home etc, and has always been in a hard case. It's wearing a fresh set of Fender flats and will come with the Thomann hard case it's been living in (which needs one of the 4 handle mounts securing, but will get the bass home safe, I might get chance to sort it anyway). The tones are good, and for a budget item the preamp is really flexible, theres a tiny bit of hiss if you whack the treble right up, but my Elwood L5 is the same, and how many bass players do that anyway. I'm no pro at setting up a fretless, but I tweaked it when it arrived and it plays really nicely. I'm away from home for the next couple of days, but I'm pretty sure string spacing is 18mm at the bridge. Neck is nice and slim too. I live in Wembley (around Preston Rd area) and work in North Greenwich. Pick up or local meet up preferred. Trades wise, A decent Compressor (as simple as possible) a decent Envelope Filter or a decent, noise free, isolated pedalboard power supply are on my wanted list. Cheers Nick
