I'm new to all this shizzle, I usually just join a band, do my bit and sod off home, but I appear to inadvertently started a project. I'm not usually one for putting the cart before the horse, I routinely roll my eyes at bands that have logos, blurb, pics etc before the music is sorted, but as the project is coming together a name has presented itself, that appears unlikely to get me sued according to Google. What I'd like to do is to get a domain sorted, so I can have things like "], "], "], and similar things, maybe with the option of having www.bandname.co.uk further down the line. I'm guessing this won't give me any rights over the name, but at least the domain/email address would be mine. Also I'd like either a big enough provider likely to be around for a while, or something that I can transfer elsewhere if necessary, so as not to lose it. Any info about other sites that it would be a good idea to set up an account to secure it... Bandcamp, etc, would also be really useful too. I'd be grateful for any guidance from anyone who's done this kind of thing? Thanks!

I love mine. Everything I need in a tiny package. Speed change, pitch change, loop function for tricky bits, tuner, metronome. When the band sends me sketches of songs I use it to record a few different options and send them back for approval. It lives in my bass case and I would buy another if it failed. I thought the bass sound was crap to start with, but then I replaced my headphones and it was fine. I do have DAW/interface etc, but for convenience, ease of use, etc, it's great.

Probably the same. It's a Series 6, 7 Band 1x15. The narrower one with the ports under the speaker, rather than down one side. I've had it forever and have always loved it, but getting it downstairs from the flat to the car was a pain. It's probably not a fair comparison as the MB has more power, but all of the class D/lightweight vs old school things I read aren't apparent to my ears, so it's a done deal... Just need to bring myself to sell something that's given me years of sterling service... sentimental old fool!

To ease my aching bones I picked up a Markbass 121H from the Classifieds here. It's range is great, and I've never had it beyond a quarter volume yet, so I probably won't need to budget for the extension cab I thought I might need. I've been running it alongside the Trace combo used and loved for years and I honestly can't hear anything lacking, so as a one handed carry solution it looks like it's staying.

Will it pay me enough to raise 3 kids comfortably in an increasingly expensive London, while leaving me enough time at home to actually be a good Dad? Lol... that's why it can never be about he money for me. Interesting Music, Nice, reliable people, and a desire to gig. That'll do for me!

What they said! You got a facebook link for sharing, I have a few muso friends up that way?

Thanks everyone for your input... man I love this place (as long as I stay out of Off Topic of course). I'll have a look at the RC30 too. The fundamental thing is being able to output a click, and ideally switching between different loops just to be able to stretch a groove out into a bit more of a tune. It doesn't need to be a proper midi thing as all I want to synch is 2 or 3 people, just so we're together.

JamMan Stereo... It does, it only bloody does! I'm on it, Cheers!

I certainly hope so. I've been looking round this week and couldn't find anything that explicitly stated this capability. It seems like a no brainer to me, I can't be the only one who would find this useful. Thanks again!

Great stuff, I'll have a look into that. If I can keep it simple, just feet and fingers, I'm all over it. I know it works for some and the results are more controllable, but I don't want to be relying on software and faffing about. I want it to be simple, so we can just play, but obviously I'd like us to be in synch. Many thanks!

Thanks Dan! I feared that would be the case, and I don't think I can be bothered with that. I do have an interface with which I use Cubase, but I can't see me ever taking that kind of setup to a gig. I was hoping that a click output was a feature I'd missed when browsing for loopers, then a little mixer to split it. Ah well, back to the drawing board.

I've a feeling I'm $hit out of luck here without making things much more complex than I want, but here goes. I love playing with the looper on my B3 but I'd like something less restrictive, and that I could use live with a drummer. Ideally I'd like something that I could build multiple loops on, that I could switch in and out for A/B/C sections, and that could also output a click via headphones to keep us together. Does anyone know of such a device, or am I looking at laptops, software and racks of complicated shizzle? Cheers Nick

Just do what you always do. Forget the crowd size, thats the frontman/woman'seeking job to manage. Just play as well as you know how and have fun. IMO of course.

I needed mine to be a fiver, which restricted my choice a fair bit. I went with the Harley Benton Progessive thing. Stuck a set of Fender flats on it (why they ship with rounds I'll never understand?), and it's fine. Well put together, plays nicely enough, stays in tune, sounds alright. OK it's not in the same league as my fretted basses, but at under £135 delivered I have no complaints.

I try to stay, if I have family stuff to do I'll go but otherwise it's just politeness to me. I'll usually throw a camera in and try to grab a few decent shots of folks playing. That way I have something to retain my interest, even if a band is a bit ropey or not my thing. People really seem to appreciate a decent picture of themselves doing what they love and I reckon I've won a fair few re-bookings with bands on the strength of that over the years.

Managed to bag a ticket for Brixton tonight. It's in the circle, but I'm not complaining... better than missing it.
What sort of strings should go on a 34" Jazz? Just wanting to avoid floppy B string syndrome.
My Elwood wears a 120 and it's fine, it's set up light and low though. My Jake, which is my 'rock' bass and gets hammered a bit more wears a 125 and that's every bit as solid as the 35 inch scale Lakland that it replaced.

I missed out on this one. Half expected to have a gig on so left it clear. Caught them for the last couple at the Roundhouse and Hammersmith and they were brilliant. Had a look around last week but nothing about apart from resellers, 60-odd quid which isn't crippling, but I can't on principle fund those scumbags.

REVISED ATTENDANCE LIST 1. TheGreek 2. Bassface2k10 3. NickD Looks clear on the calendar, obviously this is not quite the same as it actually being clear... will check with the master. If I can't make it you're welcome to my entry fee and the gas it would have cost.

Lol. Father's Day was ideal for me... 'It's your day Daddy, you can do whatever you want'... Right, help me load the car, see you all later, call a curry for 7pm'. As long as there are no family obligations I'll make every effort to attend any other date, these things are great!

Excellent. Thanks!

Thanks chaps! Could I trouble anyone for string spacing at the bridge, and do they ship with roundwounds? I Will need to order flats separately if that's the case.
-
Great, thanks! That's just what I wanted to hear. I reckon I'll give it a go, it's not much of a risk at that kind of cost.

Christ on a bike! ... That's an incredible line-up. Don't let Tom Petty wear himself out, we need him fit and well in London 3 days later!
