1.
Question, is the notion of being able to hop into your own car at anytime and going anywhere you want not apoealing in the UK?
It's the London thing again... I do run a car, but barely use it, hardly ever for gigs around London.. By way of an example, We're in Harrow, NW London, My Brother In Law is in Kingston SW London (about 10 miles away), My Brother is in Leicester (about 100 miles away, but up the country. During the daytime I can get to my Brother in the same time as I could get to my Brother in Law. RE Dating... Imagine being able to both get home and not having to keep your hands on the wheel!
2.
I'm playing at Water rats in London in October...
Nice little setup there, did it a couple of weeks ago. Soundguy is pretty cool too, sound on stage and out front was great. London is a bit of a special case I guess. particularly the central London Venues. There's pretty much nowhere more than an hour away on the Tube/Overground, and most have everything you need. I just need to take a gigbag and a smile!
3. Unless you've managed st spec it at under 150 Euros... in which case I need your configuration details!
4. Nowt IIRC!
5.
On its way to me soon! Can't wait
Crikey that's handsome!
6. They're fantastically comfortable. However, as I found out last week, a black one in combination with a sweaty day and my favourite white Hendrix t-shirt is a poor mix. Comfy yes, colourfast no!
7. How about no inlays? It's something I've settled on over the years and I can't imagine anything but a clean fretboard now.
8. Currently looking for a sitter - I'll be there if I possibly can!
9. I was at the Tom Petty gig the following day and the bass was spot on for everyone I saw across all stages IMO. The sound overall was great except for an annoying nasal whining sound during Stevie Nicks' set.
10. And a beautiful day! (Except for the one year the real ale tent ran dry!) Lovely for the kids too. This is always in the calendar.
11. Thanks again Steve, I'll refer back to your points as we get into it. Your right, it's fun already, and I'm incredibly excited at the idea of developing it further. Although we're talking about pretty low levels of ability here, the sounds we make are already interesting to me. I'll check out your stuff, been meaning to subscribe for ages. All the stuff I have of yours are downloads from Amazon, which I suspect benefits neither you or I!
12. *sneaks back in and bows down at the feet of the looping God... probably embarrassing him somewhat in the process* Thanks Steve. For the simplicity I want I'm looking at th Jam man stereo atm... just trying to get security clearance from my Wife. If it works out though I'd like to get a little more complex. Small steps and all that, but the more ideas drummer and I come up with the more I hear different parts but don't want to go beyond a 3 piece.
13. That looks bloody ridiculous... I totally love it!
14. I've just been reminded that I'm taking my son to see his favourite Green Day in Hyde Park tomorrow. Gotta cut him some slack, he's only 6. On the upside, they've put on the Damned and the Stranglers for us oldies!
15. Many congratulations!
16. Lettuce - Next Wednesday at the Jazz Café.
17.
He's doing a social club in Leeds. Hope the members turning out for a pint of mild with a couple of comics, a drag act and then a few strippers are prepared for Stanley's face-melting fusion...
Can't wait to see his face when they stop him for the bingo!
18. I guess it depends what you want to do. For my lessons I just use my tablet and it's built in mic, and my tutor uses his laptop & its mic as far as I can see. I can hear him, he can hear me... job done I do have an interface etc, but it's not been necessary to use it yet.
19. Diamanda Galas nest Monday... Should be mental!
20. Back to the drawing board! Thanks folks, I'll take a look at those!
21. I'm new to all this shizzle, I usually just join a band, do my bit and sod off home, but I appear to inadvertently started a project. I'm not usually one for putting the cart before the horse, I routinely roll my eyes at bands that have logos, blurb, pics etc before the music is sorted, but as the project is coming together a name has presented itself, that appears unlikely to get me sued according to Google. What I'd like to do is to get a domain sorted, so I can have things like "][email protected], "][email protected], "][email protected], and similar things, maybe with the option of having www.bandname.co.uk further down the line. I'm guessing this won't give me any rights over the name, but at least the domain/email address would be mine. Also I'd like either a big enough provider likely to be around for a while, or something that I can transfer elsewhere if necessary, so as not to lose it. Any info about other sites that it would be a good idea to set up an account to secure it... Bandcamp, etc, would also be really useful too. I'd be grateful for any guidance from anyone who's done this kind of thing? Thanks!
22. I love mine. Everything I need in a tiny package. Speed change, pitch change, loop function for tricky bits, tuner, metronome. When the band sends me sketches of songs I use it to record a few different options and send them back for approval. It lives in my bass case and I would buy another if it failed. I thought the bass sound was crap to start with, but then I replaced my headphones and it was fine. I do have DAW/interface etc, but for convenience, ease of use, etc, it's great.
23. Probably the same. It's a Series 6, 7 Band 1x15. The narrower one with the ports under the speaker, rather than down one side. I've had it forever and have always loved it, but getting it downstairs from the flat to the car was a pain. It's probably not a fair comparison as the MB has more power, but all of the class D/lightweight vs old school things I read aren't apparent to my ears, so it's a done deal... Just need to bring myself to sell something that's given me years of sterling service... sentimental old fool!
24. To ease my aching bones I picked up a Markbass 121H from the Classifieds here. It's range is great, and I've never had it beyond a quarter volume yet, so I probably won't need to budget for the extension cab I thought I might need. I've been running it alongside the Trace combo used and loved for years and I honestly can't hear anything lacking, so as a one handed carry solution it looks like it's staying.
25. Will it pay me enough to raise 3 kids comfortably in an increasingly expensive London, while leaving me enough time at home to actually be a good Dad? Lol... that's why it can never be about he money for me. Interesting Music, Nice, reliable people, and a desire to gig. That'll do for me!
