1.
I got THE email with the picture!!! 9 weeks and a half even with NAMM in the middle... not bad! Here's the new Jake:
That's handsome!
2. There was a DI shootout at last year's Herts bash. Thread with summary and video is here - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/284022-herts-bass-bash-2016-preampdi-pedal-shootout/page__pid__3066222#entry3066222 The Behringer was included, and my little Zoom performed admirably too.
3. Crikey that's a bargain!* *Runs of to Google kit required for Skype lessons
4.
Result!!
Indeed! To be fair though, it was a country project so expectations might not have been that high!
5. I had the Jake in the studio for the first time yesterday, DI with a Grace preamp and through a miked Fender BXR 1x15. The artist and producer wouldn't stop banging on about the sound, it was exactly how I hoped it would be.
6. That is glorious in its simplicity!
7. If Adrian and crew are going I'm giving it a miss. I can't afford a divorce at the moment!
8. Cody Wright... restricted to one day, I'm going on whatever day they put him on!
9.
Adrian emailed me this evening to let me know that this is now ready and will be on its way this week. Ordered on 21st Nov so much like Bearfist's it has turned around much quicker. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
That is stunning, the finish almost looks wet. You'll have some fun with it. I had my L5 out yesterday after playing the Jake exclusively for a month or so as I'm trying to decide which to use for a session later this month, and I was shocked at how easy it is to play, I'd kinda forgotten. Yours has more knobs though, so it must be even more fun!
10.
Finished??
Brilliant... and sooooo true!
11. I've been mostly attempting suicide with cheese. I need to get back on it though as Jake and Elwood have their first studio outing mid-January, and I've 10 songs to put bass lines together for. ... as soon as all this cheese is finished!
12. As above, you can have a pan pot on a passive. My Jake+ usually has Vol, Vol, Tone, but I asked Adrian if there was any technical reason he couldn't make it Vol, Pan, Tone, and he said it would be fine... and it is. Between the controls it has it's easily as versatile as my active Elwood. I find on the Elwood I change my tone mostly with the pan pot and serial/parallel switch... The bass and treble boost/cut controls may as well not be there.
13. +1 for Geddy. No doubt he can play, but is tone is awful, his songs are dull, and his singing makes me want to stamp on kittens. Pretty much any fusion player. Yes they're all very clever, and very capable, but I'd rather feel something than sit through a science lesson.
14. If I had to pick one it would be Tedeschi Trucks - Let Me Get By.
15. That's an on stage accident waiting to happen... a lost eye at minimum! Beautifully done though.

Smallest rig

Thanks! It's probably quite old fashioned, but I see rigs like that and think how they could possibly cope with serious low end. The footprint and the form factor is really appealing though, having the single for the folky stuff and the pair for the rockier stuff.

Smallest rig
Here's my FULL rig, but using just one of these little cabs still holds its own very well, and is extremely small/compact. Eude
I love the idea of something that size. I see a fiver in the picture, how does something that small handle the deep end?
18.
Steamho
I think I met her at Whitby goth weekend!
19. "I put it to you that you knew full well how your 'Bass gear getting inexplicably more expensive since the summer' thread would turn out!'
20.
Yes, we play there at least once a year.
Love that pub... only ever get to it for one weekend a year though. Looking at the posters they have some cracking acts on year round.
21.
We do indeed, as does Leamington, just up the road. Loads of bands and venues to play, lots of festivals in the summer - not bad for a town of 45k!
Cropredy has a lot to answer for!
22. Sounds like he's after a clinic spot, or a main stage set. I'd most certainly sit through him and a couple of his cohorts putting some tunes together, I love the way he plays. It's also as if he's dodging the intention of the question, which I assume to be whether they'll have a stand there or not. My guess is that with pitch costs and transport, etc, displaying his wares in a country with a failing currency might not be worth his while.
