That is glorious in its simplicity!

If Adrian and crew are going I'm giving it a miss. I can't afford a divorce at the moment!

Cody Wright... restricted to one day, I'm going on whatever day they put him on!
Adrian emailed me this evening to let me know that this is now ready and will be on its way this week. Ordered on 21st Nov so much like Bearfist's it has turned around much quicker. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
That is stunning, the finish almost looks wet. You'll have some fun with it. I had my L5 out yesterday after playing the Jake exclusively for a month or so as I'm trying to decide which to use for a session later this month, and I was shocked at how easy it is to play, I'd kinda forgotten. Yours has more knobs though, so it must be even more fun!
Finished??
Brilliant... and sooooo true!

I've been mostly attempting suicide with cheese. I need to get back on it though as Jake and Elwood have their first studio outing mid-January, and I've 10 songs to put bass lines together for. ... as soon as all this cheese is finished!

As above, you can have a pan pot on a passive. My Jake+ usually has Vol, Vol, Tone, but I asked Adrian if there was any technical reason he couldn't make it Vol, Pan, Tone, and he said it would be fine... and it is. Between the controls it has it's easily as versatile as my active Elwood. I find on the Elwood I change my tone mostly with the pan pot and serial/parallel switch... The bass and treble boost/cut controls may as well not be there.

My Glockenklang 2 band has that.

Good ish players never likely to be in your top 10 and for why

+1 for Geddy. No doubt he can play, but is tone is awful, his songs are dull, and his singing makes me want to stamp on kittens. Pretty much any fusion player. Yes they're all very clever, and very capable, but I'd rather feel something than sit through a science lesson. -
If I had to pick one it would be Tedeschi Trucks - Let Me Get By.

Brilliant!

That's an on stage accident waiting to happen... a lost eye at minimum! Beautifully done though.

Thanks! It's probably quite old fashioned, but I see rigs like that and think how they could possibly cope with serious low end. The footprint and the form factor is really appealing though, having the single for the folky stuff and the pair for the rockier stuff.
Here's my FULL rig, but using just one of these little cabs still holds its own very well, and is extremely small/compact. Eude
I love the idea of something that size. I see a fiver in the picture, how does something that small handle the deep end?

Just a bit of fun. Feel free to change the caption.

UK towns (not cities) with a lively gig culture / lots of bands?
Yes, we play there at least once a year.
Love that pub... only ever get to it for one weekend a year though. Looking at the posters they have some cracking acts on year round. -
We do indeed, as does Leamington, just up the road. Loads of bands and venues to play, lots of festivals in the summer - not bad for a town of 45k!
Cropredy has a lot to answer for! -

Banbury seems to have its fair share. -
Sounds like he's after a clinic spot, or a main stage set. I'd most certainly sit through him and a couple of his cohorts putting some tunes together, I love the way he plays. It's also as if he's dodging the intention of the question, which I assume to be whether they'll have a stand there or not. My guess is that with pitch costs and transport, etc, displaying his wares in a country with a failing currency might not be worth his while.

I can't offer a direct P pickup comparison, but my Jake has the Delanos, and while with the tone rolled off it nails the P tone IMO, it's pretty aggressive. Dial the tone back in and it growls beautifully, so that's probably not what you're after. Output is massive, my Elwood has the Haussels through a glock preamp, and the output from my passive Jake is much more brutal, add in the Humbucker I have in the bridge and it's pure rawk (which is not what I do, but it's nice to have... gotta keep these folky/country types on their toes!). I can't speak for the Haussel P type pickup, but I find the J types pretty authentic, warm and vintagey, what I'd expect from a jazz. If that extends across their range it might be an option. I'm sure Adrian could advise. Playability wise, I had a Lakland 55-01 alongside my Elwood and found the Elwood much easier to get around on, Some of this would be down to losing an inch off the scale length, as I spend a the bulk of my time at the deep end, the profiles are very similar. I sold it when I ordered the Jake. I'd previously played a standard Jake, and got on with it fine so that's what I went with for mine. It's maybe slightly deeper than the Lakland, but feels more rounded somehow as you move up the neck where the Lakland flattens off more, dead easy to play and certainly not what I'd call big. Compared to the few Fender's I've played, there's much less wood, and the gentler radius and rounded heel makes all the difference to me. I'm no expert on Fenders mind, I've never lived with one, so my experience is limited to little jams on other people's instruments, but they feel a bit primitive to me, and I don't get that from the Jake. Just as a caveat, I'm talking about 5 strings here. The only Jake 4 I've ever had a little play on was Sibob's Beautiful gold, chambered beastie, at last years Herts Bash. That was a lovely instrument to play too.

... and they've started to get a bit active on FB over the past couple of days too!
Still waiting on mine, should be ready soon I hope!
At this rate it might come by sleigh!
-
So you guys with the 5 string instruments - hows your B? I've had hit or miss affairs with B strings on Fender type basses and the inability to try before buying worries me..... Also, am I correct in thinking the prices of the stock instruments on the website include shipping to UK?
Shipping is included. Both my B strings are as they should be, in that they feel and sound just like the other 4 strings. That's running a 120 on the Elwood L5 and a 125 on the Jake. I came to these from a 35 inch scale Lakland, which was the first B string I was really happy with, and they're both at least as good.
