1. Aero71 was selling a Jazzus recently, and I'm pretty sure you'll fid a demo video in the thread if you dig it up.
2.
I would love a simple passive Fiesta Red precision, normal scale, warm vintage pickup capable of growl if used with a plectrum, passive, rosewood board...I'm sure that can't be too expensive a build? Not now...maybe early next year.
I'd get on with it if you can. The Jake 5 I ordered two weeks ago cost me the better part of £100 more than when I specced it out before the referendum, and it'd be 6 quid more than that today. Also the build time has gone up from 10 to 12 weeks (which I'm sure I can't logically blame Brexiters for, but I will anyway).
3. It looks beautiful here, but I don't think that sofa shot quite does the paint justice... it looks even better in the flesh. I was lucky enough to have a little noodle on this at the Herts Bass and it's a beautiful thing to play... to the extent that I've now got one on order. It's a bloody bargain at that price!
4. Nice! In my experience, when Harry says excellent condition, that's exactly what he means!
5. Can the fretboard ding be felt while playing... while sliding etc?
6. There's nothing on that list Id particularly fancy playing, but it would depend on the band and their approach. Donkeys years ago I was offered a decent paying job on the recommendation of a drummer I'd worked with previously. It was a 70s show, glam stuff, ABBA etc, which wasn't really my kind of thing but I needed the money and had always enjoyed playing with the drummer so I went for it. I turned up to the one and only practice scheduled before a 2 week stint in Germany with only one night off, and it was a blast. The drummer and guitard were brilliant, the whole attitude very tongue in cheek, and the singer (and band leader) didn't give a toss what we did as long as it was solid underneath where he was singing. With very well known songs you can take huge liberties musically as long as the core melody and feel is firmly recognisable to the punter, and man did we take liberties! It turned out not only to be a nice little earner, but pretty fulfilling musically too. I'd check it out and see how the setup is personally.
7. Has anyone seen the 'White Rabbit' finish in the flesh? I need a backup for my L5, and I'm seriously considering a stock one. They look lovely in the pics.
8. As above... just set up your patch of 3 effects for the song (or entire set if you're lazy like me), click into the patch and use it as you would 3 individual stomp boxes.
9. Hi Alan. My apologies but it was collected last night, I meant to update the ad this morning but with packing to go away I didn't get around to it. I'm on a ferry at the moment with patchy signal, but I'll update as soon as I can. Sorry about that.
10. Nice! They're a funny looking thing, but I've always found them strangely appealing. What's the balance like on a strap with the short top horn please?
11. Thanks Richard. You're not the only one who suffers, I've only ever had 5 strings since the early 90s, and yet I weirdly still get pretty bad 4 string GAS, knowing full well it's not a good idea... This place doesn't help! As for the Corvette, I love the sound and the feel of it, but with my fat hands I always end up playing one of my 19mms, 16.5 is just a touch too tight for my clumsy attempts!
12. I think I've pretty much settled on wider string spacing nowadays, so the narrow guys need to go. Corvette 5 - Sold. Warwick RockBass Streamer 5 String Bass, in high polish black. Carolena body, Maple & Ekanga neck and rosewood fingerboard. 34" scale with 16.5 mm string spacing, adjustable to around 17mm if required. It's the late model with full German Warwick hardware and the standard Warwick 'W' Headstock. MEC Passive soapbar pickups with VVT controls. Nice fat passive tones, plays very easily, and has a pretty tight and articulate B string. I bought this for a particular recording project a couple of years ago, and it's only ever done studio work so it's in excellent condition, but it has swirling as is always the case with high gloss black finishes. No fret wear, and the electronics are sound, no crackle or hum from pickups, pots or jack. I've got a, ahem, 'roadworn' (ie, solid, but dusty, torn covering, gaffa tape, etc) old hardcase, that while no great shakes will get it from me to you in relative safety. Would also consider trades for lighter weight amplification stuff. As much as I love my old faithful 1 x 15 Trace Combo, getting down the stairs from the flat is a manual handling hazard waiting to happen, and I could probably pull together a few hundred quid to move towards a more portable option that would give me similar volume and bottom end. As above, collection preferred, but happy to look at couriering at buyers expense. I'm in Harrow, work in central London, and I'm also happy to look at halfway meetups over a sensible distance. £200 Happy to take/send any specific pictures on request.
13. +1 for Maruszczcz... those Polish Basses. I got an Elwood L5A, along the lines of this one but with Haussels. https://www.public-peace.de/index.php/bass-guitars/maruszczyk/elwood-l/5-string/444-elwood-l-5a-flamed-maple160114 I didn't realise it at the time, but I was effectively sacking my Lakeland on the spot.
