Foo Fighters for me. Gotta love 'em... sound blokes, good rock & roll attitude, good to fans, etc. They can knock a fair old tune out too, but having to listen to more than two back to back is an exercise in tedium.

Fender Copy. A derogatory term used widely in the 70s and 80s for knockoffs of Fender body shapes/pickup configurations, that is no longer in common use despite it applying to around 95% of all basses produced. Manufacturers realised in the early 90s that they could circumvent this obvious truth being applied to their product by making slight variations to headstock shape, then charging at least a grand.

OK... It's 28 days until the end of February... I've got a DAW I don't know how to use, a midi controller I'm not sure about, an effects unit they say can be used as an audio interface, no mic, no keyboard skills, no time, no ideas... and I'm wearing sunglasses... Hit it!

I think the most respectful thing would be to bury the Euro vision song contest with him! Seriously though, one hell of a career, and always really engaging. A real loss. RIP.

It's not massive, but there's enough there, it could be done in half a day. I always easily lose half a day, if not more, going to the masterclasses and live shows, and a little more watching the little jams organised at some of the stands. Even then I still have enough time to get around and try what I want to try, and buy whatever I've planned.

[/quote] My Bass Collection (SB315) is 19mm at the bridge which is the same as the Lakland. Maybe a touch less at the nut though, but not by much. It is a great slim neck though, and 34" scale.

Only fives for me. I traded my first and only 4 string for a 5 string back in 1990, it was 'good for metal'. Over the years,as my tastes have changed I've become accustomed to it. All my real learning was on a fiver, and as a result 5 strings is just what a bass has. I like the idea of a six, but I'm used to heading up the neck for higher stuff, so the high C would probably be mostly ornamental.

As above, ibanez have got the market cornered with super slim necks and narrow spacing, with something for everyone in the soundgear range. Warwick also have the 16.5mm spacing, but the necks are chunkier round the back. It seems the chunkiness varies depending on the year though, so buying blind isn't a good idea. My 2008 Corvette isn't a baseball bat, but it's not soundgear slim. I do find though,that I like a fatter neck when the string spacing is narrow... not sure why, it just feels right. Its definately easier on the fretting hand, but the problem is that I use the B string as much as any other, and when I'm not playing the Lakland, I wish I was, because of the usability of the B.
