Love Bob Moulds later stuff especially! His Bassist Jason (Can't remember is surname) is an epic bass player, he just does what's needed! -

I could do with getting myself a black pickguard made up for my US Precision, which ebay listing/seller was it? Cheers

Nice to know I wasn't the only one who struggled with it, I do miss playing the Foo's stuff but having been playing guitar in an originals band and have promoted myself to bass player Fingers crossed that we can all start gigging again this year or at least be able to rehearse and jam that's for sure!!

That's good to hear and I'm sure (Hopeful) I'll have no need for anything bigger than 100w as I've 500w A/B Class solid state heads and of course my old beloved (No longer with us Trace Elliot SM 300 GP7 ran at 8 ohms) which were more than plenty. I have no desire to own another D class amp after my brief foray into an Aguiler TH500 which in my eyes was a complete disappointment, couldn't get a sound I liked in gig/rehearsal settings which I sold and ended up using a Ampeg Svt450 amp which in my eyes/ears blew it out of the water in my old Foo Fighters Tribute band.

Thanks for that, I ment in regards to Handbox. All my dealings with Ashdown over the years has been great!

Thanks for the offer, I used to be an East Sussex lad but I moved north of the border (Watford) to Stamford in Lincolnshire where north of the border has now moved to Humberside apparently? From there over to New Zealand for a couple of years and then back to Stamford. You could say I get around but here feels like home.

My kind of Bass player!! I'm liking the sound of that very much, cracking band and song too!
-
My only concern is with Manufacturer back up if anything goes wrong.
-
Probably a stupid question but which did you prefer between the Handbox and Ashdown CTM100?
-
Thanks for the info so far guys, I will shortlist some amps to check out: Handbox WB100 Ashdown CTM100 Orange AD200B I'm after a tight full punchy sound and will most likely be using a darkglass B7K V2 also.

The CTM100 tickles my fancy and I’d be using roundwounds on the precision

Thanks for the suggestion guys. The issue I’m having is that I’m trying to get an idea of stuff during lockdown but due to being a pick player most videos are finger style or slap. If there is any pick stuff it’s usually heavily overdriven or muted with flat wounds which isn’t any help to me.

I'm looking at purchasing a valve bass head within the next couple of months, I've discounted Ampeg as I've owned/borrow a couple over the years which I found them to be unreliable and the eq relatively useless too. I like the look of the Orange AD200B but the lack of D.I puts me off, what other offerings are there? Cab wise I'll be using an Ashdown RM610. I use a Precision bass and play pick style.

I had one of the early Squier classic vibe precision basses in Daphne Blue and it was a fantastic piece of kit! You might be able to pick up a Lakland Skyline P-bass around that if you're patient.

Thanks for the link but I'm after an American Jazz Standard one as I love the profile of it, however a maple board with black blocks and binding has got me thinking though.

Hi everyone, its been a while. For the past few years I've been over to the darkside playing guitar in a couple of bands, and in my current band we went to record an Ep but due to this damn Covid-19 we're still waiting for the tracks to be mixed and mastered. The recording was going great and everyone bought their A-game and knocked the recording out of the park apart from the bassist who despite having played the chosen songs for 6 months really blew it, despite offering him help and encouragement. Anyway..... to cut a long story short I ended up having to track all the bass in an hour (The other guy took 4 hrs and only got 20 seconds recorded which was out of time and also the wrong notes) so time was of the essence and as we couldn't book anymore sessions for 2 months due to being fully booked, it fell on me to lay down the tracks as the bassist turned around and said he wasn't ready to record......thanks for the heads up! After all was said and done, I've stitched myself up and have found myself back on bass which, after a good long break feels really good and I couldn't be happier! So after looking about at what the used bass prices were (It's been a while) I ended up finding and buying a 2001 Fender American Precision Bass in Inca Silver with a maple neck and I think its one of the best sounding P-basses I've played/owned. I need to spend more time with the neck profile as I find it a little chunkier than I'd like however I may end up trading out the neck for a Us Jazz bass neck....if anyone is after a US Precision neck and want to trade me their Jazz neck, please get in touch. I'm also thinking about putting a black scratch plate on it aswell. Enough blabbing, here is the new addition:

Most of my career I have spent working in the Highways Industry, originally starting as a Labourer and working my way into a Highways Inspectors role which took me to New Zealand in 2016 and return back to blighty in 2019. Due to the lack of vacancies in the area I live in, I ended up working on the Railway as a crossing keeper. I manually open and close gates at a Level crossing as I struggled to get through signalling school and pass out as a signaller (Signalman) - I had previously for a short stint worked as a Service engineer for Southern Railway but have found that the more time I spend in the rail industry, the more I want to return back to the highways due to all the politics and shift work which makes it difficult to find a decent work/life balance plus the salary is no different and I get to work Mon-Fri in the day.
