1. I don't use FB so not guilty m'lud. Did you get that bomby thing at the end off ebay - could be a market for making them, try handing them out at your next gig as souvenirs, would make interesting reading the papers the day after if you want some free publicity!
2.
Si! An' we don' need no stinkin' privatised rail network, either - er... amigo. But she is for another thread.
We don't need HS2 either, but we are going to get it! As "North" is considered to be B'ham, and it is important to Westminster to support the poor people in the north, we are going to get stuffed with this white elephant. I digress - if you spend £250 on a kettle lead, and plug it into a £3 B&Q twin wall socket, and building cable at £0.25/meter, well you know the answer. The only true way to sort out sound and harmonics in power generation is to rectify then truly invert it without harmonics to get a pure sine wave at stable voltage and frequency, which amps will typically invert back to DC anyway. So the power supply makes no difference. But as was said many posts earlier, don't let the laws of physics get in the way of a good argument.
3.
In a field with a bit of grass stuck between your teeth by the sound of it.
It only works properly if you are in a rocking chair, drinking moonshine, and have less teeth than banjo strings.
4.
It would be nice to be able to do more structured searches of the For Sale bits. The down side however is most likely to be increased spending on basses etc. leading inevitably to chastisement, mental cruelty, abuse, assault with a deadly frying pan, castration, death and divorce. Not necessarily in that order.
Well so long as the divorce happens before the castration and death then you are still in the game so to speak! You can count it as a lucky escape
5.
This is a great idea for the marketplace! - £1000 and up - £500 to £1000 - £350 to £500 - £200 to £350 - The grotty bargain bin. Saves trawling through all that posh crap....!!!
Would also save the capitalists from having pay the butler to trawl through all the cheap todge
6. Just last week I bought a non-fender off this very forum. I think I'd have given the ad a week before pulling it though!
7. I guess if you buy something off BC, then to sell it on, unless you've done some upgrade or repair, then selling back for the same price and take the postage hit yourself is the right way. If you choose to sell via another medium then charge what you want! The gear merry-go-round on here it great if you can control yourself to a 1-in-1-out policy. It gets expensive if you go for the 1-in-another-1-in approach which I'm currently suffering from My attitude is generally I can sell it all on at any time for close to what I paid, so it is not wasted, just secured funds. Cheers, Rich
8. Bought a PJB cab off Simon, great to deal with and very helpful!
9.
Re 8b/9bI really don't get the impedence thing though, surely in the real world impedance is frequency dependent so you should be able to use a 'divisible by 4 cab' with a 'divisible by 3 cab' in practice if not in theory?
I think (correct me someone who knows better) the 6-pak, 6B, 9B, 12b etc are all wired with 3 speakers in series then these banks connected in parallel. The 8B, 16 and 24 speaker cabs are all wired with 4 speakers in series, then these banks in parallel. So if you connect up say an 8B and a 9B you would not get the correct balance between the cabs as one will be running four speakers and one running 3 speakers off in effect the same voltage across that series bank. You need to stick with either the 6-9, or 8-16-24 and not mix them for best performance. I think... Cheers, Rich
10. Basschat is bad. It creates within me an unfathomable and irrational desire for stuff. Especially the For Sale section which I now promise myself to try and avoid browsing. A month or two ago I was partaking in a quiet browse when a PJB Six-Pak combo was on offer. Two days later it was in my truck and going home. Then I decided it was not loud enough so I hacked up my old Laney and used it as an extension cab, which was nice. But, it was always in the back of my mind that PJBAS was calling. Low and behold an 8B cab comes up, but due to wiring differences does not work with a 6-Pak, or it would have been mine. A day later a 9B comes up, it has to be mine! Picked it up today and was talking with Simon who said, "I used to have a 6-pak, sold it though". Turns out it was the very same 6-Pak I now own so the original cab and combo are now reunited in noisy bliss. Rattle your eyeballs with vol on 7, yes please: First gig for the setup this Friday, can't wait! Cheers, Rich

Bought a Hartke bass off Don, so easy to deal with, arrived well packed and in good time. Good comms too! Cheers, Rich
12.
If your cab isn't making the grade you should be looking for a cab loaded with better drivers.
So very true of many things, often the cheapest, least grief and most effective way of upgrading anything is to sell it and buy a better one. Usually works for cabs, cars, blenders, toasters and lawnmowers too. Although I did once get 16bhp out of a 100cc two stroke mower motor.

14.
A late twenties girl and a bunch of middle aged blokes .................... 'Pretty Ugly' Oh, you know us too well!
Looking at that from the crowd wouldn't it be "Ugly Pretty Ugly"?
15.
CLEVELAND STEAMERS
I hail from Cleveland before it was disbanded by some local government muppet. A Cleveland Steamer was the colloquial term for one being caught short and leaving a log on the pavement, be it human or dog, and when fresh and on a nippy spring eve it would steam, giving the deed its nickname. The lesson is of course be very very careful what name you chose, and I would perhaps suggest you consult the worlds only reference for such, this tome being the "Profanisaurus" A few moment perusing this can save you a whole heap of embarrassment when playing a gig in the North-East, or where people hailing from such salubrious upbringings may be in attendance. Cheers, Rich
16.
MOTHER MARGARET
I believe this should not be used as it could be mistaken for a colloquial cry/wail one may release upon climaxing in place of the more common saying "sh!t the bed". So I'd avoid that one myself.
17. Ronan Keating I'll get me coat...
18. well done old chap, putting the greater good before your own. My personal opinion is that if I'm not dead, I'm playing. I mean if you had stayed in hospital you'd have only laid in bed and probably caught something much worse off the others in there. May as well have dosed up as you did and got on with it, then gone to bed at home for a day or two after to get over it all.
19. I personally find nothing wrong with a ménage a trois in the practice room - although I rarely play with both at once
20. Love my mex P, a good setup was all that was required to get it sounding spot on. I wind the tone almost right down to get rid of the twangy top end and it just seems to work. Bassists much better than me say it sounds great, so I'll take that. It is the bass I use for gigs at new venues when I'm not sure how drunk the punters are so don't want to take out the vintage J. The J is much smoother and mellow, but the P has the punch. I change between them regularly just for some variety. What more would you need? I have the CAR P but the white pick guard is the triple layer, the middle being black. I like the simple lines with the hint of a coachline along the edge of the guard. Cheers, Rich
21. nostalgia is big business - sometimes bigger than when "in the day". If one of them is down to their last £10m you can see how plugging in for a few nights can be attractive. Even The Who did it to dig JE out of the mire.
22. BBC4 now is top of the tops from 1979 - everything from Johnny Rotten to the Nolan Sisters!
23. Can't believe this is still for sale - I love mine, so quick and easy to set up and use at gigs.
24.
http://www.eatliver.com/russian-dating/
And how, pray tell, did one find that website in the first place? Something you want to say? The 4th one down gets me - the wall looks like a mixture of kid crayon drawings overlayed with blood smears where people have been smashed against the wall during torture.
25. An 8 and a 6 in parallel are 3.4 ohms so less than your 4 ohm min so dont do it would be the answer. Cheers Rich
