Recently has a clear out of basses and other gear to fund a new purchase but kept back one bass until new purchase was funded for..... New purchase has now been funded so for sale I have a (I believe 2006) Chinese three colour sunburst Squier precision bass Now! Fully aware of the stigma attached to squiers......but........this one, is NICE! Bought this as a modding platform but was surprised that, once I started playing it, it needs no modding, for a squier this sounds exceptionally p-thumpy, it put it up against other higher end precisions and it does certainly hold its own without issue Currently strung with either rotosound or d'addario (can't remember which) 45, 65, 85, 105 flatwounds Alder body I believe, the neck, oh the neck, slim, smooth, fast, an absolute joy to play, PLENTY of fret life left Action, lowest I have seen in a squier for a long time although I did raise it a tad to suit my own playing, this was meant to be a backup but I found quite quickly, it's the bass I went to first every time! I did "mod" it slightly however, o rubbed it down to take all of the shiney new from the finish to give it a Matt look, so much better in my opinion and I also threw a spare tort pickguard on it, I had to enlarge the side holes for the pickups slightly, not the neatest of jobs but you can't see it unless your right on top of it, other than that, no mods needed! Fantastic playing and sounding guitar for the money, got a goodun here!! Price INCLUDES shipping or delivery within 20 miles of Chelmsford, Essex The pictures....... Just acquired a new bass and it's coming in a flight case that I have a feeling is going to be too big and heavy for what I need so am looking to sell it on or trade it for a "regular" bass hard case Can't tell you too much about it yet as it hasn't arrived just yet but what I do know...... - it's big - it's heavy - it looks like this (guitar NOT included) Any one looking to buy a flight case or swap one for something a little more........compact maybe?!
The 'walnut' body is just superb. I am sad (or have French taste ), I like 'brown' wood basses.
Love proper wood looking basses myself, sad to see this one go as it was my first precision but GAS is a cruel mistress..... When I started this project build though, look no further than the Elvis Costello jazzmaster for inspiration, wanted mine to look a little more........ratty though, not a fan of shiney new on guitars or basses -

Regular 34" scale and as requested, with black pickguard which was the pickguard that originally came with this body -

Hey all, it's with a heavy heart that I'm selling my first precision bass, unfortunately GAS has taken over and I need to raise funds for another purchase This guitar isn't a standard bass, I have built this from parts bought either here or elsewhere on the interweb, the "spec" is as follows * Squier VM precision body that I have stripped back and dyed with American walnut stain (I still have about half a can of the stain left that I will throw in with the sale) * Squier VM Jaguar neck with "cheeky F logo" applied * Bone nut * Aftermarket red tort pick guard (I have an off white one and a black one going spare also) * Fender Original '62 RI Precision Pickups * CTS pots with Switchcraft jack and cloth wiring and (I believe) PIO cap * Gotoh 203 bass bridge * Grover machine heads Currently strung with 45, 65, 85, 105 rotosound flatwounds This guitar, considering home built, is a monster of a bass and plays and sounds fantastic, I have set it up as best as my abilities allow, next to no fretwear at all and a fully working truss rod I MAY be tempted to part this guitar out but ideally, I'd like a deal done / agreed for all parts before doing so Price INCLUDES UK delivery Collection is fine or candeliver for a cost of diesel if your more than 20 miles from Chelmsford, Essex Any questions/queries/offers/more pictures get in touch and I'll do what I can asap
At the risk of sounding a little controversial, If your ultimate bass is a P bass I wouldn't bother going custom unless you wanted an otherwise unavailable colour combo. I think you'd be paying a premium for a bass you could easily buy off the shelf. Having said that it's your money and you don't have to justify it, just buy what you want
It's a fair point, maybe I've been a little misleading when I say custom, what I really meant is, buy a body (think I already own the one I'm gonna use on one of my existing basses) buy a neck, buy hardware, throw it all together, not EXACTLY custom but still works out that I'll pretty much get what I want! Just can't decide what neck "finish" to go for
'Seasy, shirley..? The high 'E' edge bound, low octave dots, high octave blocks. Sorted, no..?
Original, I'll give you that
-
I'll keep this brief as I can Decided I'm gonna sell all my basses and custom build one Things I've decided on...... Precision bass it is as that's the one I pick up most 3tsb body in a Matt finish Pickups Bridge gotoh 201 (or the 203, the vintagey looking one) pick guard red tort The one thing I can't decide on is the neck I'm torn between the "classic" rosewood and white dot inlays or........ Rosewood with blocks and binding....... Opinions, not sure where to head with this one
