1. Due to complete lack of use I've decided to part ways with my all valve Vox AC4TV combo Amp is in good working order, quite versatile and very loud considering its minimal controls and small size, fantastic little amp Cosmetically the amp looks good, there's is a small (about half inch) chip in the wood on the back of the cabinet, nothing that affects the functionality or aesthetics (unless you like looking at the back of combo amps) Website bumpf.... http://www.voxamps.com/ac4tv Trade wise I'm looking for any of the following, in order of preference..... Ampeg BA110 combo Block and bound jazz neck Try me with anything but I'd be looking at the above first, Price includes shipping within UK
2. Just acquired a 1996 MIC squier precision bass, looking to swap the neck out for something slimmer/thinner Truss rod works fine, frets are in good nick, neck is straight and clean Anyone have any squier (or otherwise) jazz bass or jaguar bass necks they want to trade? Pics coming as soon as I can
3.
The fact it has a maple neck, for me at least, argues against the reliced look - I can only imagine a rosewood board looking good with the 'driftwood' finish (and said so earlier). It'll be good to see pics of the finished article!
Hindsight would agree completely, for the most part, maple necks on relic or naked bodies, you have to be very careful to get it to look right (providing it's not all "natural" wear, look at some of Springsteen or Keith Richards' maple guitars.....) Must post a picture of my own telecaster here when I get a chance, just for opinion sake
4.
No worries mate, it's your bass, obviously you can have it exactly how you want it! Would like to see pics of the finished item, though.
I intend on doing a "build diary" of sorts when it's all completed, have many pictures of various stages of this one
5. Jebus that was a lengthy post
6. Holding my hands up, this body is mine, I cocked up the painting, not sure how or why as this isn't the first guitar I've painted but it is the first time this has happened, anyway, different story..... Rich showed me the pictures of the body after he had sanded it and, like a lot of you guys, I really liked it, had this been any other project I would have been inclined to keep it as is but for this one, I'm after a black and maple bass, have finished all the work on the neck and headstock, cleaned and buffed all the chrome fittings (including even the smallest of the screw heads and now I can't wait to put it all back together The relic look........for me, I like it, but......depends on how it's done and on the guitar too, as I explained to rich, my main bass is basically sanded down and dyed, looks driftwood like, looks a little relic but also looks new, I have several other guitars, some new looking some reliced some have just had the newness taken away, currently moving house but will post pics when I can (you can see my main bass on the gear porn thread) Really liked the "driftwood" look of this body after it had been sanded but as I say, for this particular project, much to the dismay of some of you guys (sorry) this ones gotta be black and maple Thanks again to rich for helping me out, can't wait to see it finished
7. Anyone in the Essex-ish area handy with a router? Looking to add a jazz pickup in one of my precision bodies and quite frankly, don't trust myself enough with power tools to do it myself
8. Have been trying to paint the body for a week now and have started lacquering but just can't get it right or flat, I could strip the body back down to wood Paint and lacquer would need to be bought either by yourself or me, obviously I'd cover all costs Assuming the body is back to wood, how much would you charge?! Looking at just a standard black finish Where are you in the world boss?
9. Anyone in or around the Essex area fancy refinishing a body in exchange for cold hard cash?
10.
Yeah! My band play Black Coffee....in E!
Black coffee over here too but in G

15. So, I just bought this http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=181771992781&globalID=EBAY-GB I'm not collecting it for a couple of days yet so closer inspection is needed I'm intending in kicking a new lease of life into this bass, stripping body back, filling any dents etc etc and respraying black I'm intending on spraying the headstock black also to cover the damage there My first two questions be these...... Does anybody know where I can get a good fitting (from experience) pickguard for these guitars? I'm thinking 3 ply b/w/b..... Also, does anybody know if / where I might be able to source a "white" OLP waterslide decal, basically an OLP decal that would look decent on a black background Many thanks in advance folks
16. Six songs down and I'm already adding more flamboyancey to my own bass lines, Why the hell didn't I find it this easy before now?!
17.
Let me share with you, then, my usual piece of encouragement; it applies to reading music and so much more in life... "It's the first forty years that are the hardest, after which things tend to get (slightly...) easier."
Cheers dude, your advice and encouragement has been invaluable, really do appreciate it, let me know where you live and when I do throw the books out the window, I'll aim for your doorstep hahaha
18. Thanks for all the advice so far gents, tried "transcribing" one of the simpler songs from this book today and after following some very well thought out advice, I think I only went and got the notes right Just followed the dots, every other mark, couldn't tell you what they mean but I got one sorted, so once again, thank you for any helpful advice given, it's gonna take me a year to work through the rest of the book hahaha
19. Hi guys, sorry, should've mentioned before, I'm a guitar player of 20 years and a bass player of about 6 I know how to play, I know my scales and such it's just I picked this book up as it's more the kind of music I'm playing with my newest band and to get a feel for how others play this style, it's just this notation stuff, thankfully Ive never needed it, until now Sorry for any confusion
20. Wow! Thank you again, although my brain has imploded and f***ed off already How do I know that (using your example) the note to be played flat is B? I'm assuming because of the key its in somehow?! How do I know other notes aren't meant to be flat or sharp?! Taking she caught the Katy for another example, watching videos on oochoob there's slides from one note to the next, how do I tell these little intricacies from notation?
