I want to try a fuzz, it's just to play around with and see what kind of effects I can get from it so I don't want to spend too much. I thought about an Ashdown Drive Plus, but read a few comments here and it doesn't seem to get good reviews amongst Bass Chatters, that's the kind of money I would want to spend. Any thoughts or recommendations on this would be greatfully received.

Ok, well I think I've sorted it. The truss rod was as tight as a tight thing, so relieved it a bit and that seems to have cured the problem. Thanks everyone for your advice.

If I press the E string at the first and last frets it touches all the frets all the way along the neck!!

Just taken delivery of my new Jazz and very pleased with it I am too. It looks the mutts and plays great. Only problem is it's a bit buzzy as if the strings are a bit too close to the fret board. What do you reckon that is and how can I fix it? It sounds worse when played acoustically not too bad when amplified.

I can see how you could end up with 70 or so basses. I've been playing bass for less than 6 months. I own an Affinity Squier P bass and have just ordered a Squier Classic Vibe 60's Jazz. I know these basses are at the low end, but nevertheless, that makes two basses bought plus my new Ashdown combo to go with my original Fender 15W Rumble. GAS has got me. Perhaps I should quit now!!

It made made my cheap as chips Affinity bass sound good! I've been used to playing through a 15W Fender Rumble and difference is amazing. The Ashdown was as smooth as silk and, at last I've got some [b]volume[/b] . It will take a bit of fiddling with the dials before I come up with my sound, whatever that may be, but I am very pleased with it. Just have to get a nice Jazz to go with it now!!

Managed to lift it upstairs no probs. Will be trying it out this evening!

Ok, I've done the dirty deed and ordered a MAG-C210-T-300. Can't wait to try it out now. If it turns out to be pants I will be blaming you lot! That's a great review. I intend to buy one very soon, two things concern me, first how loud is the fan? I will only playing this initially anyway at home with the volume down, unless the wife goes out! Would I hear the fan above low volume playing, that could be a bit distracting. Well, I've really opened a can of worms here. Every one has an opinion I guess. I am leaning towards Ashdown. The mag 300 210 is a little over my budget and maybe too powerful for just playing at home. I like the look of the EB 15-180 EVO11 though.

Not considered Fender as I play a 15W Rumble at the moment and not been too impressed to be honest. It's a bit weedy, but I guess the bigger amps would have more oomph.

I want to buy myself a bass combo. I've got about £300 budget and I've more or less whittled my choices down to three. Marshall MB150, Line 6 Lowdown LD 150 and Roland Cube 100. I haven't played any of them, my choice so far is based on price, the way they look and what I have read about them. It's difficult for me to get to play any before I buy as I don't have a music store nearby. So, what do you guys think? Any feedback would be good.
