    Looking to buy a decent strap and I think neoprene is the way to go. Seen these straps on ebay, guy is selling them in different lengths. Any opinions on them or other recommendations welcome. Confused.[/quote] Me, for one. As I stated earlier I subscribe. Perhaps it's aimed at beginners and intermediate players rather than pro bassists. I find the content very interesting indeed, as a beginner I am thirsty for knowledge and this magazine feeds that. I have recently enjoyed the write up about the Squier VMJ and the Squier P-bass, Fender Rumble 15W package as this is the kind of gear I am playing/looking at, at the moment. There is also a new beginners how to play column as well, so I feel I am well catered for. No complaints from me. Whereas the American Bass Player mag I find a bit high brow and technical.

    I checked out both BGM and the American mag when I first started to play bass, I now subscribe to BGM but I haven't even looked the other one since. That tells you which one I prefer I think!

    I've been trying to sell my Fender Strat for a few weeks now to no avail, so I have decided to go down the Ebay route, so far so good. I have a few people watching and that's good too, but I've had a bid put in from someone with 0 feedback. I'm not sure if this is good or not. At the moment his bid is way below what I've set as a reserve so it's not a problem, but I have seen other folk with ads on Ebay stating that if the bidder has less than, say, 5 feedbacks to email them, presumably to check they are genuine and that has worried me. So long as I don't let the goods out of my hands before I get the money I can't get burned can I? Another question, one guy emailed me and offered to " Buy It Now" for just about what I was hoping to sell for even though I hadn't put that down as an option. Can I take that offer or am I committed to letting the sale run it's course?     Reading the posts here you guys amaze me. So many of you have several guitars and are always on the lookout for more! It seems that you all sell as many as you buy and that your collections are constantly changing. Do you all not lose hundreds of pounds in the buying and selling? I've just converted to bass and play a Squier Affinity P, just about the cheapest starter bass there is and I'm ready to upgrade. Probably keep the Squier, and go for a Fender Jazz. I'm hoping to sell a nearly new MIM Strat and Peavey Bandit amp to fund my new bass, but I'm already looking at a loss of £100 plus. That's kind of scary, but I'm already on that slippery slope it apears.

    This is quite scary for someone like me. I'm new to the world of bass and looking for a Jazz. I could quite easily have bid for this thinking it was what this guy said it was. I wouldn't know any different and could end up being ripped off. Fair play to the guy in question, he's acknowledged the feedback given from you guys and re listed it. I know what though, if I see something on ebay I like the look of I will post it here and let you guys have a look before making any bids. I think you may have saved someone a few bob there. Good to know there are people out there looking out for you. Nice one.

    Hmmm, I kinda asked a similar question about thumb rests recently. I decided in the end not to use a thumb rest at all, but anchor my thumb on the top of the neck. I've changed that since and now use a pick as I prefer the cleaner sound I get.
