1. yeah i think it may be mighty mite it seems whoever put the neck on the bass (not me!) could have got a tighter fit if they'd spent a few minutes sanding the corners on the neck as the radius of the two curves (heel and pocket ends) don't quite match up. i wonder if this is a mighty mite flaw or if they have done it to give a bit of freedom to adjust the heel shape for the endless variations found on fenders..... never noticed that before though! nice 1. when i get a neck that isn't shagged, i'll check for snugness.... cheers rich
Don't mean to hijack your thread, but are you using a Mighty Mite neck on there? Because I've got a maple on on my MIM jazz just like yours and I have that little gap between the neck and pickguard too.
2. Bearing in mind that the dimarzio's cost £90-110 new and the badass around £70 new, i think £60 is a bit on the low side for both at the moment as i'm not desperate to sell. thanks for the interest anyway, cheers, rich
3. cheers skankdelvar, think i have posted the necessary now.... we shall see still any help on this thread much appreciated. people seem less than keen to throw me a straight offer or valuation. is that to be expected? i've never bought/sold a body on its own before.... price for unloaded/loaded much appreciated! cheers, rich
4. This is just a feeler so i'm looking to know what people think this is worth, hence i'm not going to state a guessed price which may rip people off or be way under market value. the parts are a stainless steel scratchplate, standard controls, badass 2 bridge, dimarzio ultrajazz pickups, maybe make me an offer for loaded and unloaded so i can decide whether to split or sell as one. i hope that makes a bit more sense! offers/valuations? seen anything similar? also any ideas what that colour is called? cheers, rich
5. i havn't taken it off yet but it has a skunk stripe and i believe it was mighty mite or allparts. i'd love to do it myself (i make surfboards among other things) but don't know where to start. from what i can see, there is no obvious join between the fingerboard and neck. could it be made from one piece with the truss rod put in from behind? does this make repair harder or easier? cheers, rich
6. Hey, any interest in a MIM Jazz body? It's some type of metallic green, very good condition (found one small dent and nothing through to the wood) and is lovely and heavy (makes my stingray feel floaty...) It's from a bass i may disassemble rather than repair if it makes economic sense (i snapped the truss rod..) any offers or guides to what it may be worth? don't make me ebay it..... cheers, rich
7. Hi, relatively new here so fingers crossed. i recently snapped my truss rod whilst trying to fit the heaviest flatwounds i could buy. I have had little luck in finding a decent new (preferably jazz) bass neck for much less than £100 so was wondering..... can it be fixed cheaply? are there any luthiers out there who could make this repair economically viable? how much would the repair cost? any help would be much appreciated! Thankyou, rich (cardiff)
8. Hey, I'm a relative newbie here and just wanted a few opinions on a sticky situation..... my main bass untill recently has been a mexican jazz body, allparts maple f/b p-neck, dimarzio ultrajazz p/u's, badass 2, vintage style tuners etc i snapped the truss rod a few weeks back trying to counter the effects of the heaviest, funkiest flats that money can buy. so a couple of questions, 1.does anyone have a reasonably price jazz neck? ideally maple, but anything jazz shaped will do. 2. can anyone out there fix a truss rod for less than the cost of a new neck? (less than about £90) 3.What is my bass worth as it is? would i get more for it if i split it? 4. PX? i'd probably be up for doing a part exchange with the bass for something like a stingray H/S, a narrow neck warwick (with similar h/s pickups), or something else that would give me a fat funky sound without losing bottom end..... try me! any help with this would be much appreciated as at the moment i am left with a friends ibanez K5 and a......... ........guitar. yuck. save me from a six string nightmare, cheers, rich (cardiff)
9. Hi a combination of factors (well, a socket set and the worlds heaviest flatwounds...) lead to the snapping of my truss rod in a precision neck i have on my jazz body. This leaves me with i dilemma: 1. Do i buy a new jazz bass neck? 2. Do i sell the jazz body/dimarzio ultras/ badass etc and buy/buld my dream bass? This would be a stingray h/s with a jazz-width neck..... did anyone see the blueburst ray on ebay yesterday/today? went for pennies! lucky somebody..... 3. Is a truss rod a replaceable thing? is getting it replaced cheaper than a new neck? If anyone has a jazz neck, get in touch. if not, your recommendations please! (incidentally, TLC's waterfalls is truely rocking my bass world) rich
10. Hey i've decided (well, the credit crunch has decided) that i should sell my bartolini preamp which i imported at great expense last year for a jazz bass project. I have been playing it passive an am quite happy with the tone so will not be installing the bart!
