Total Watts

  1. So it's working out better than I imagined. The far is needs a second go but you can see it has cleared up the 'residue' nicely. The bottom part needs buffed, that is just the compound dry. You can see the cloth. That is probably just a very thin layer of coating, same way you would take very thin layers of paint/laquer on car to return it's shine.
  2. It is short scale so it may just fit.
  3. Used a car polishing compound and it really helped. The more I worked on it the more I think that it was residue but the laquer/sealant itself had smeared wither by alcohol or some other chemical. Either way, I am going in the right direction and after remedying that I can apply a polish. Thank you everyone!
  4. Thanks @Lozz196 Yeah, it's just to remove that gluey substance and shine up. No stripping or deep removal. I think someone tried to convert it to left hand by drilling a hole in the lower part of the body 😆 I like the story it tells and it is unique in that regard.
  5. Hi, APOLOGIES - Should have posted this is in Repairs & Technical but can't move it. I took my old Musicmaster bass (once owned by Chris Glen from the Sensational Alex Harvey band) out of the wardrobe 😆 to clean up. Got the fretboard done but the body is shambles. I'd like to bring back that glossy finish. There are parts where i rub with a microfibre and it just sticks like a gluey layer and it just smears everywhere. What could it possibly be and how do I go about getting it off before possibly buffing and getting the spots/swirls out? Many thanks C
  6. Thanks @Sean Looks like an excellent bass.
  7. Price-wise I hope you are correct. People seem to charge an arm for these basses.
  8. I had seen this but a little bit out of price range https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1981-gl-l-2000-2/
  9. That's good to know about the parts @80Hz Thank you. I don't know much about differences between USA and Tribute but will investigate. I had read that quality control had decreased in recent years.
  10. Hi. Been a while since I was on here. I gave up bass playing a good few years ago for reasons I can't go into. You were all very helpful the last time I was on here...so, I want to get back into playing again and would love to purchase a G&L L1000 or L2000. They are pretty rare here in the UK and was wondering if I should even go down this avenue as a stingray will get me close to what I want. One thing at the back of my mind is parts, god forbid if something should go wrong electronically. It's hard enough getting the actually bass in the UK never mind sourcing parts. Secondly, has anyone got one for sale? 🙂 Many thanks
  11. Anyone bought from here, http://www.amplifiercoversonline.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=491_136&products_id=3883
  12. Ha, yes. That was worst case scenario.
  13. Hi all, I know Roqsolid do a cover for barefaced super compacts but I need a cover asap (within 2-3 days). Any other quick purchase recommendations. Main concern is waterproofing and walking quite a distance in rain. Cheers!!!! C
