I'm sorry @Bassfinger but IMHO you need to pick your fights, and this is one to walk away from. The best you can hope for is to get your money a few weeks earlier while possibly picking up a fair amount of bad publicity amongst the musos you know ... can you imagine how all this would be spun by four or five others in the band? I can see that you're well pissed off and I imagine that I would be too, but I suspect that you'd be pissing into the wind on this one. Best just let it go.

Spot on. Assuming that your bandmates are reasonable people, you need to ask them to agree to a technical rehearsal which is all about your sound - they have to set their rigs to how they'll be at live gigs and agree to NOT twiddle the knobs while you're trying to establish the settings you need. Given that they'll be giving up an evening plus the cost of the practice space it's best to get them onside first. You will deffo need to take a simple but reliable handheld recorder ... my preference is the Zoom range (H1, H2 or H4). Have it set up for recording the sound in the room (i.e. don't take a DI from your rig or a feed from the room PA) and keep referring back to it during the session. Sometimes the sound in the room is surprisingly different from what you thought you were hearing while you were playing.

Yup ... in my early days on bass I had an Ibanez Precision (70s) which sounded amazing but weighed over 11lbs. It did my back and shoulders in if I played it standing up, and when I played it sitting down it cut off the circulation below my right knee. 🙄

Nothing that can't be fixed with a couple of 2" woodscrews and some offcuts. 😉

You'll need to have them available in five or six sizes, and then all your potential buyers will ask ,"Do you have it in blue?" ...

Get in touch with Eric Silva in Brazil: https://www.facebook.com/Ericbaixo His strap company makes superb leather guitar straps, their service is fast and efficient. and his prices used to be pretty keen. His English is very good. Apart from normal wide, padded straps, he also makes excellent twin-shoulder straps which I use on my three heaviest basses. The twin-jobbies also pretty much eradicate neck-dive. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=646408149307126&set=a.182025455745400 That photo is old enough to show me with my Covid Lockdown Pornstar tache ...

Alternative to tascam bt phrase trainer ?
Happy Jack replied to Geek99's topic in General Discussion
Hmmmmmm ... it's PC-based rather than Android or stand-alone, and it also appears to be embedded with YouTube who are currently making all sorts of threats in my general direction for my failure to start paying for something that has been free for as long as I've been using it. -

Thanks Sam. Reviews are ... erm ... mixed (to put it politely) but it's a freebie so what have I got to lose? Installed on my phone and I'll give it a whirl. -

Incidentally, the latest firmware update for the GB-10 is dated 1st Dec 2010 so that won't help. 🙄 -

Hardly a Lazarus thread but worth reviving. My GB-10 still works just fine but it's a technology hangover from 15 years ago which brings all sorts of compatability issues. Half the tracks I want to play on it come up with Non-Supported and even after processing through both Reaper and Lame XP all too often I still can't get the MP3 to play. Getting bored now. I'll ask @Geek99's question again, but I have NO INTEREST in headphone amps. What I want is a modern product that will allow me to: change the key of the track I'm playing, adjust the tuning for when autotune has left the published MP3 30 cents away from concert pitch, loop a track or a section of a track, slow down a track without changing pitch. If it also has a tuner and a metronome then that's nice but I don't actually need those functions. If it's an app for my android phone then I can live with it but quite frankly I'd prefer a separate piece of kit. What I really want is a Tascam GB-10 designed in 2024 but that doesn't seem to exist. Any suggestions? -
@Osiris - can you pick up these images in Photoshop? I'm thinking of an AI-generated image into which I (who am I kidding? I mean @Silvia Bluejay) can insert actual photos of band members.

Thinking about using AI to generate photos that can be used in band posters. Does anyone have any experience, advice, warnings, threats?

What is this EQ of which you speak? They're flats ... go with the way they sound. 🙂 You'll be hooked for life by the end of the first set

But inconsistent. I've had three amps over the years from W-Audio. None deliver anything like the power they claim (which is fine - I don't need that much), one blew up at a gig, one worked fine but only for a few years before it died, and my current one is excellent. Go figure. In truth, I would never use a cheap power amp as my main amp for anything. The cost saving isn't worth that constant nagging doubt. My recommendation is to keep a constant eye out for a cheap-ish pre-owned Powersoft Digam amp. They do come up from time to time.

I'm slightly dismayed by the £399 charge for postage.
