  1. I'm struggling to understand how this relates to playing Brown Sugar down at the Dog & Duck ...
  2. I like that a lot. Not for me either musically or socially, but at least you can see exactly where they're coming from.
  3. Use of English, dear boy. It's possible to work out what he means if you read it properly. Notice the plurals, as also the lack of any mention of vocals or BVs. If you're spoiling for an argument, do go somewhere else.
  4. If you two don't start behaving, I'll bloody report the pair of you! Now what are you wittering on about?
  5. This is for playing in your lounge? Check out the Crazy 8 instead of the OneTen.
  6. If I asked my son the same question (he's 23) I'd get a list of completely indigestible drum'n'bass outfits ...
  7. "Inspired by Pino Palladino’s bass used extensively with “D’Angelo” and “The Who” I wanted to do a recreation of his Bass but with much more attention to detail and no expenses to spare. Find below a video of Pino playing “Brown Sugar” using the referred instrument: https://youtu.be/hu1JVTvzzxM" So that's why I posted a link to an 8-minute YouTube in which there is only a single 1/4-second glimpse of Pino at 0:18 (before the song even starts) and where the audio is pretty obviously not a live recording by someone in the crowd but the usual tidied-up and improved version. But not to worry, that glimpse is still enough to show that my attention to detail and lack of spared expenses wasn't enough to prevent me fitting the wrong neck to the bass. Doubles all round ...
  8. They only give you charts if you're not a reader ...
  9. I don't think that even rates a 'quirky'. It's more 'heart-stoppingly ugly'.
  10. I'll certainly be far more careful in future about which kazoo I pick up ...
  11. Coming soon to a clickbait website near you: 50 dead bassists 25 oldest bassists 100 best-dressed bassists 40 bassists who don't play a Precision 69 top bassist divorces 101 things you didn't know about bassists 33 foreign bassists who don't talk like us and smell a bit funny 10 reasons why Brexit will improve bassists 5 richest bassists 100,000 bassists who don't appear in any other pointless lists
  12. Well that's a New Year's Resolution right there ...
  13. https://www.joinmyband.co.uk/classifieds/guitarist-drummer-bassiest-and-keyboardist-wanted-t1132426.html So he's looking for "Guitarist, Drummer, Bassiest and Keyboardist" which suggests that he's a singer. Then he adds, "If you have any microphones for gigs that is a plus." So I guess he doesn't have his own. But he follows that with "You must have your own gear." Which is nice. Probably best not ask if he has a PA.
  14. Well he's chopped off roughly a quarter of the bass, but at least he's refrained from describing it as "quarter-sawn".
  15. But also specify that you haven't broken your umbrella or walking stick.
  16. https://www.thomann.de/gb/the_t.racks_dbmeter.htm Seriously. It has no microphone (that I can see) so can only measure the strength of the signal passing through it ... on the way to the powered PA units with their own volume controls. Erm ...
  17. Prices aren't outrageous (quite sensible for some) but I really don't get the 3-pickup thing.
  18. It's a choice we all have to make ... eventually.
  19. You need timing to go widdly-widdly-widdly-wheeeee! ?
  20. Looks like he used a fair number of genuine Ricky parts. Did you actually save a significant amount as opposed to a genuine Rick?
