  1. Pretty much. There may be a very slight change in tone, but essentially what you get is greater control.
  2. ... this isn't really what I have in mind. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-MC500-Arch-top-1979/182995037908?hash=item2a9b5aaed4:g:cpsAAOSwEaBaS9iA I know it's a guitar, and maybe it's just me, but that seems like a helluva lot for a 70s Japanese guitar.
  3. But laying it down also gives you somewhere to sit while you're resting between sets ...
  4. So what do Slipknot use? A Johnson?
  5. https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-musicians-wanted/bass-player-wanted-for-for-forming-band-of-overs-60s-experienced-musicians./1281410189
  6. Ah, now that's a whole noo thang. If anyone in the Dogs suggested doing that I'd veto it like a shot. WAY too much work involved, WAY too many things that could go wrong, and at many venues simply not practical.
  7. Not being a windmill specialist, I looked at the speed of that thing and thought they must have filmed it during a hurricane.
  8. Good to have you back David ... looks like the same avatar you were using when you were here before?
  9. ... but would be right up the street of some Basschatters, I'm sure. https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-musicians-wanted/bass-player-wanted-for-london-open-mic-night/1281274037
  10. 'Nicest' = not necessarily. 'Amongst the nicest' = absolutely. You know, it never even occurred to me to just have the offending decal removed. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
  11. Ead, best make sure that the logo is pre-CBS (controversial Basschat subject).
  12. Unplugged does not necessarily mean Unplugged. Not actual game footage. The value of your basses may go down as well as up. Contents may be hot. Your band may be at risk if do not keep up with the rehearsals. Objects in mirrors may be closer than you think. Mind the gap.
  13. Always rather fancied the spoons actually. And yes, I have recently bought a kazoo. 😎
  14. Retire. From work, not bass. 129 days and four hours to go. Haven't given it a moment's thought.
  15. Something I'll never need again is a comb. Does that count?
  16. Yup - it came to me as a Bravewood, but the Fender logo seemed to have been on it from the start. It certainly wasn't (or didn't feel like) a waterslide when I had it. If there had been a Bravewood logo on the headstock, I'd have kept it.
  17. Ah ... an excuse to re-visit one of my favourite clips:
  18. Not really in the spirit of this thread, I know, but seeing as the topic is actually about stumbling ...
  19. Small country pub (barely larger than my through lounge) up in the Chilterns, where we'll be playing for not much more than our regular fee. The pub will make a loss on having us, and we could earn more elsewhere, but this will feel like the band is having a private party. Anyway, last night's gig was big and fun so tonight being small and cosy works for me.
  20. Meddle not in the affairs of bassists, for they are subtle and quick to anger ...
