*** GONE *** Two Mercedes Viano seats, leather
Happy Jack replied to Happy Jack's topic in Completed Items
If you can find someone driving from London to the frozen North ... in a van. Believe me, I'd far rather give 'em to you than bin them. -
Just bought a Viano with seven seats, which is two too many. For reasons, I have to get rid of these two seats sharpish, like within the next 72 hours. According to eBay, they're probably worth about £300. If they're not gone by Wednesday, they go to the tip. Dreadful shame, and all that, but what can you do? Collection only from HA1 3RG. I don't have an envelope big enough to post them in.
A quick look for those on reverb and ebay...but all of them are between 700-1000...out of my budget.
The last Hofner 185 to sell on Basschat (earlier this year) went for £200. I bought a Hagstrom in near showroom condition off eBay a few months ago for £500. You may be looking in the wrong places!

worlds most complicated (and expensive?) bass
Happy Jack replied to NickA's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
You've all missed the point. Those aren't control knobs, each represents one note in a scale and you play them by tapping the knobs with your right hand while tapping (in a slightly different way) the strings with your left hand. What appears to be a pickup selector is actually a rotary knob which allows you to choose which key the 'knobs' play in. -
If coolness matters to you, check out the Hofner 182, Hofner 185, Hagstrom and Futurama from the early/mid 60s. I've had several examples of each of those, all have played and sounded fine, they have stories to tell, and they tend to go up in value rather than down. There's also little wrong with most Eko, Kent and Gherson basses that a decent set-up won't deal with.

Looked at the title and the tags, and thought this would be a thread about architecture ...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WEM-Dominator-25-MK-II-Guitar-Amplifer-brand-used-by-Pink-Floyd-Led-Zeppelin/232525754913?hash=item36239d7221:g:KEcAAOSwlzlZ5MIB Nowt to do with me, but I'd love to see this go to a Basschatter. The Dommie 25 was the bass version of the normal Dommie, and had a 15" Celestion instead of the standard 12". This is a simply gorgeous-sounding old-school valve combo, easily loud enough for most pub gigs and also great when mic'd up in the studio. They normally sell for £500 or more.

Why do I keep coming back to have a look at this?
Happy Jack replied to thebrig's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It's probably just a trick of the light, but I could swear that bass carries a hint of green. -
Feel free to 'demand' whatever you like. Just don't expect to play (m)any gigs.

Playing in a pub band isn't about making money ... it's about offsetting the cost of your hobby.

Where did you get enough balsa wood to build a sub-8lb Jazz? I did have one that light, a Gherson: Neckdive to make a Thunderbird blush ...

I have a lovely Fishman SA220 Performer, used it for years and love it to bits. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fishman-SA220-Solo-Performance-System/dp/B001E96UMS At rehearsal last night it started making a fairly constant hissing/crackling sound, loud enough to be bloody irritating when not playing but inaudible when in use. The sound was completely unaffected by whether or not an instrument or mic or both was plugged in, and none of the controls (gain, EQ, etc.) made any difference to the sound. I realise that this is damned near an impossible question to answer without hearing it, but does this sound like a capacitor or similar? My problem is that, in perfect condition, this unit is currently worth perhaps £400, maybe a bit less. If I send it off to be serviced and repaired, it's hard to believe that the bill will be a great deal less than that ...
That's basically what this site looks like - they're trying to be the Uber for the music industry. S.P.
Your analysis would be all the more persuasive if we could actually see "what this site looks like".

Headphone Amps - Looking for Recommendations
Happy Jack replied to lou24d53's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yup, PJB kit is the way to go if you can afford it. As a simple headphone amp the Bighead is superb. If you want more of a Swiss-Army-knife for bass playing then the Bass Buddy is quite simply unbeatable iMHO. -
Mike Lull T5 (5-string Thunderbird) eBay
Happy Jack replied to NancyJohnson's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Final price including all customs taxes will be close to 2000-2200 GBP and you'll get a bass with a reglued broken head. Sorry, but you better wait for Sander De Gier to make its 5 strings Lowlander or ask him to make you the first one...

Touche
Oh you guys! Realistically, as the very happy owner of a T5 for the last couple of years, even with the reglued headstock this is still a great deal. In another reality, where I don't already own FAR too many basses, I have already pulled the trigger to buy this as a back-up bass ... -
Amazing how big you can make yourself sound on the Internet, ain't it? We have lots of money to give away, you don't need to be any good because we have so many opportunities, in fact far too many to bother actually listing any, and our f***ing enormous super-duper high-quality website is ... erm ... under development just now so you can't see it, but trust us, it'll be massive. I'm sure that 11-year-olds all over the country have been taken in by this tosh ...
