2.
In those embarrassing situations where someone hands you a bass and says "you're good, play something" that's basically what's expected, and I wish I could do it that well and get back to drinking, no questions asked!
Yup, I feel sure I would hate that if anyone were ever so foolish as to look at me and say "you're good, play something". Don't worry - that ain't never going to happen.
  3. Well I've had my Basschat for ten years now, it's had plenty of mods so I can't claim it's all-original, and it certainly has plenty of mojo, but I have no intention of looking for an upgrade just yet. Forum GAS is a terrible thing.

I've rarely seen a better case argued for using your ears rather than all this reductio ad absurdum. If you like the sound, buy it. If you don't like the sound, buy something else. If you want to score points, endlessly, boringly, repetitively, then analyse the sound to death using oh-so-clever graphs accompanied by casual put-downs ("I suspect not everyone will know how to read this ..."). Perhaps clutching a copy of this graph will somehow make your PA sound better in The Tickled Trout. I promise you it won't make a blind bit of difference in any pub I've ever played. I imagine that the RCFs sound great. I know the Barefaced RFs sound great. Lots of things sound great. Get over it.

Fank you :-)
How "permanent" is this marker, do you reckon?
  7. I saw them later passing through Chinatown. One guy pedalling the bike, the usual half dozen guys with shaven heads and saffron robes trailing behind beating drums, but now they've been joined by a guy who walks on one side playing bass, and another on t'other side playing an amplified ukelele of some sort. As street theatre it's quite passable, but quite what the Supreme Lord Krishna makes of it all I dread to think ...
  8. Hurry Krishna ... mobile Krishna ... pedal pedal ... hurry hurry ... 11. Just to be contrary, and FWIW, I reckon it's genuine. I agree that it looks dodgy but I think that's down to the photography. I have no idea what camera or settings he was using, but it has resulted in very unconvincing colours and textures. Try ignoring the bass and looking at the tiled floor underneath.
  12. Metalflake 1 : 0 Leopardskin (after extra time, Metalflake will now play Perspex in the semi-final)
  13. 14.
I was born in 1962 but my birthday is 28th December which, I suspect, means that most factories would have been closed for the rest of the year. This means any "YOB" bass built in '62 would be older than I am. At least the majority of basses built in '63 would have been built in 12 months from my birth.
You were born the day before my 6th birthday. I remember it well - I had measles and my party was cancelled. My birthday was a Saturday, so the only day on which the Fender factory could have been open for business would have been Monday 31st December 1956, so I can be pretty certain that no basses were built that day - especially since they used to make basses in small, occasional batches in the 50s. I chose as my YoB bass the first batch of Precisions built once I was around, which meant My bass was built in and
  15. Better still, don't post a 'wanted' ad in Basses For Sale ...
  16.
I just use a Tippex type pen Colin, just top it up as required and it gives a noticable white dot..cheap as chips too! https://www.amazon.c...ords=tippex+pen
Yup - dat's da fella. Plus of course it comes off easily with a scrape of the fingernail and leaves no trace. I've used Luminlay, glow-stickers, felt-tip pen, LEDs, you name it. The Tippex is by far the easiest fix for this.
