1. Simple & practical passive mixer unit, 4 x mic channels (XLR) plus 4 x stereo pairs (1/4") to give up to 12 inputs. 2-ch EQ, 48V phantom power, all the usual features for an entry-level desk. Works perfectly, original PSU still there too. Now surplus to my requirements. £40 posted to UK. 2. I still think it was a ballsy move by John Hall to set up Rockinbetter ...
3. Gosh, I remember when this was my favourite Topic on Basschat. Of course, I was much younger then, and this were all fields round 'ere. Genuinely delighted to see it re-surface.
4. Pah! You can't remember the lead, can you?
5.
Spondon, it's a dark poor quality cell phone video. The only reason I wanted to post it was for you guys to hear the rather top notch tempo one of the new drummers were working with kept. And I wanted to make sure I haven't mislead anyone. We're not a professional band. We're a local bar band. Blue
Fair enough mate, and if nothing else you've created a great topic.
6. As topic titles go, there are few more open to misinterpretation than this one ...
7.
I used to think that I started gigging in 1975 .I recently discovered it was 1974..........
There was a lot of sh*t being smoked back then, yeah ...
8. They're necessities, aren't they?
9. For that amount of money, you could buy six old bangers and drive them all to the Nurburgring ...
10.
I've owned the Korg Pitchblack for years and have never worried about upgrading it. Built like a tank and it's display is really smooth, doesn't flicker or jump about.
+1 A great big, bright, simple display makes it dead easy to read under stage lighting, the Mute button is essential if you get as angry as I do with guitarists who tune up at gigs with their guitars going through their rigs (do you really imagine the audience actually wants to hear this?), and you can use it to power a non-battery 9V pedal which can be bloody useful under some circumstances.
11. As a rule, I have always preferred litotes to hyperbole ...
12. And now my mouth is watering: http://www.amp-fix.com/Watkins%20Dominator%20Reissue.htm
13. Well I'll be damned. http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/britamps/watkins/westminster/west6.html Never noticed that one before. Mind you, [Pedant] it is 10W rather than 15W [/Pedant]!
14. And the elephant in the room is, are there really no other bands in Vienna? Presumably after two years on the local scene you must know a fair selection of local musicians - have you considered starting a slightly more sensible band?
15.
C'mon... I've waited years to see a blue movie.
16.
WEM Westminster 15 watt bass combo The WEM only lasted one gig and was replaced by an HH VS100 head mixed with a 1x18 cab - Woof.
[Pedant alert] The WEM Westminster was never a bass combo - I reckon you're confusing it with the WEM Dominator. The standard Dommie with a 12" speaker could just about be used for bass, but the Dominator 25 with a 15" speaker was actually designed to handle bass. [/ Pedant alert].
17. 1963 Hofner 500/5 into a 1967 Selmer T&B into an Eden 210XLT cab (bit of a mis-match there). How anyone can remember what bloody lead they used is quite beyond me! I know I didn't use any pedals because I didn't have any. And I do remember very clearly that I quickly discovered that a semi-acoustic large-bodied bass makes a very effective feedback generator.
18.
Out of interest, what could a potential unsavoury character actually do with my national insurance number?
Not a lot. Every time you use your credit card to buy something over the phone, you're taking a far greater risk.
19. Synth bass? Aaaaaaargh! Picture me grabbing a pair of ornate Church candlesticks and using them to make a cross ...
20. Don't suppose you'd be contemplating any trades at all? I tried this bass, all too briefly, at the DB BassBash last year, and it is truly a thing of beauty.
21. Here. Here's your solution. http://youtu.be/HV66fWWzs2c
22.
... white British R'n'B evolved into Dr.Feelgood and then stopped
When you've achieved perfection, it's time to down tools.
23. It's a rather special bass. A previous owner contacted Mike Lull to ask about some possible mods he had in mind. Apparently Mike remembered this particular bass and said, basically, why would you want to ruin such a beautiful thing?
24. I had both the WTX260 and the WTX500. If I recall correctly, the manual warned very clearly that "releasing the magic smoke" was a bad idea. In truth, things have moved on a long way from the WTX500. The equivalent offerings from Aguilar, Genz Benz, Gallien Krueger etc. are just ... well ... better. For what it's likely to cost you to repair, you'd probably do better to visit the Amps For Sale section here and look for a pre-owned Aguilar TH500 (the TH350 is also superb) or a GK MB500.
