1. Having got started by playing vintage Hofners, I no longer worry about what type of tuner has been fitted. Just so long as I can tune the bass ...
2. I don't see what the problem is ... it's gotta be worth £400 if only for the custom paint job. I was particularly taken with the four countersunk screw holes down near the pickup, two of which contained screws. Quality will always shine through.
3. Unless someone brings an aluminium bass, in which case it will get played three times. Then polished.
4. Give it up Barrie. No one is interested in reading sensible, informed opinion. They want to vent about it all being unfair and someone's fault, always someone's fault.
5. Are you changing the name of the band to The Caffrey?
6. God, you're all so bloody negative! Why not look at the up side? Every used, second-hand, pre-owned Fender is now worth more too.

8. It's easier to get at the substance if it's on top of the surface, surely?
9.
Mmm. The action looks about perfect, but how much does it weigh...? Wal.
Those spikes are nothing to do with metal ... they're actually flux capacitors which generate a localised anti-gravity field, thus rendering the bass effectively weightless. I'm a little concerned when I play it at the Dog & Duck, what with it representing an investment of £4.7bn by the UK Defence industry, but all I've done so far is hit the mic-stand with the headstock. Radar tracking has the mic stand passing the orbit of Mars just now.
10. Not sure about wings ... they look more like thighs. But then, it's been a long time since I had a KFC.
11.
No uglier than some other single-cut designs.
Now that really is setting the bar low.
12. I wondered about some sort of overheating protection circuit.
13.
One of Glasgow's oldest and best live venues and it's owned by a corp.
Just be glad it's still there. Of my favourite half-dozen music pubs that I was playing just FIVE YEARS ago, only one is still in business and still putting on music. One hangs on to existence as a non-music pub courtesy of it being a listed building. Three are now (or soon to be) blocks of luxury flats. That's London property prices for you.
14. Can I assume that you have confused a euphemism with a double entendre?
15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tom-Clement-five-string-fretless-bass-guitar-/182227240939?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276 I imagine it's a lovely bass, and probably plays really sweetly. But BY GOD is it ugly or what?
16.
My turn to have a noodle on yours!
That had better not be a euphemism.
17. Those don't look like real adverts to me. If they were real, they would all demand that applicants be *** COMMITTED *** and probably that they must *** WANT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN ***.
18. That's why my next bass will be
19. One of the joys of impending retirement (well, a couple of years away) is that I will no longer need to worry about paying income tax ...
20.

OK, that's interesting. I have (plenty of) previous with that pub and I've never rated the pub, the beer, the landlady (Pretty), the locals, or what passes for a jam session there. But if the Sunday night jam from The Oak has re-located there, it might actually be worth going there again to check it out. Once, anyway ...
21.
... you can make an electric bass out of absolutely anything. I've seen one made from a length of scrap 2x4. Actually sounded quite good.
Did he use tone scrap?
