1.
Have already emailed Parcel Force and will email Thomann tonight after I check the contents.
I'm guessing that Thomann do a LOT of business with Parcelforce, and will be better-placed than you to put pressure on them. Thomann generally get a very good press here on Basschat (including from me) so you might want to send them a link to this thread.
If you had signed for it personally, why did he feel the need to leave the package behind the side gate?
I read the OP as that he had NOT signed for it at all.

3. The best of the lot is the Mike Lull.
4. Oh lovely! Someone's already ruined the finish, so you don't need to. How kind.
5. The last few SE bashes have been organised by Silverfoxnik and Hamster, with a fair bit of help from Bluejay and OBBM. Silverfoxnik set up the South Coast bash on his own, I believe. There is absolutely NO book of rules IMHO. If you want to do it, then do it. Bear in mind though that the organiser of one of these things is taking a significant financial risk. The recent SE bashes have been held at a school where Hamster has a strong personal presence, which makes things much easier, and it's now an established event so it's pretty much guaranteed a decent attendance. I'd suggest that you contact Silverfoxnik to start with. He'll probably appreciate some more help!
6. Maybe so, but a pair of sticks usually costs more than £2.79!
7.
Interesting comment regarding the SVT.
It wasn't the SVT he was talking about, Blue, it was a Catalinbread pedal called the SFT.
8.
I've tried hard to get various functions bands I've played in to do a jazz standard ...
Serious question: Does Stormy Monday count? The line between blues and jazz is sometimes smudged at best.
9. I think you have now redefined "A solution in search of a problem.".
10. Back when I used to run (i.e. 60s & 70s) this would have been perfect for the 440 ...
11. https://youtu.be/4k6JEOKjzZI?list=PLquO7jATYe20tsuoyCwrvrwJum-rveTfQ Apart from playing bass on it, this album was also produced by Dave.
12. Sod the amp ... how about identifying those pants!
13.
Dave Pomery who used to have the column in Bass Player mag? In Dartford?! I might pop along!
That's the fella. We shared a flat for a summer in the 70s. Really nice guy, great company. If you go, be sure to mention me and Silvia (Bluejay).
14. This thread will run and run ...
15. Yup, the whole thing is a bit weird. An old friend of mine (Dave Pomeroy) is a pro bass player out of Nashville, pretty well thought-of, and he routinely tours with a number of fairly big-name headliners, especially in the world of rockabilly and country. He's over today with Sleepy LaBeef, who's not well-known in this country but should be, to headline at a big Rockabilly festival on Saturday night. Before flying back to Nashville on Monday they then go on to play Sunday night at ...erm ... Dartford Social Club. Go figure.
16. What's it like? As a venue, I mean. Big and famous, long queues outside, clean toilets? Or an old dive teetering on the brink of extinction?
17.
... I'm still wondering if there is something else that I'd get by just sticking the pedal in the chain.
Yup. Loads of stuff. One more thing to go wrong. One more thing to remember to take there and then bring home again. One more thing to worry about whenever you think you "don't sound right". In fact, one more thing to rule them all and in the darkness bind them. I constantly fall victim to all of these. Prune prune prune back down to bass --> amp --> cab and then gradually add more and more paraphernalia until the next meltdown. Learn from my mistakes. It's more than I ever seem to manage. If you don't need it, don't use it.
