1. I've never really got the thing with the tuners on the underside of the headstock, and 'signature' models have never really interested me. The one that really floats my boat is the T5, but I would really struggle to justify buying one.
2. He's done himself no favours by describing it as a Speakeasy model.
3.
For practice together and exchanging ideas. Medway, Kent area.
When I was first starting out on bass, I actually found it more useful to hook up with guitarists than other bass players. I was self-teaching from books (especially Stuart Clayton's excellent Crash Course For Bass) so what I really needed was people I could jam along with so as to practise the techniques I was learning.
4. In my studio I have storage boxes filled with gear, the contents written on the box. So there's a box labelled "XLR leads", and a box labelled "Jack leads", and a box labelled "Kettle leads", etc. A few weeks ago I noticed that someone had added some graffiti to one of the boxes. It now reads "Jack leads, from the back". Hope this helps.
5. If you're playing with your two daughters then this is an easy fix. Forget the audience, forget being on stage ... just focus on the girls. Assuming that you'll be playing next to them, just arrange the three of you so that they're facing their mates in the audience, while you're side-on to the audience (and not looking at them) and concentrating on what matters, which is making sure that they enjoy the experience. Good luck.

8. Having read through this thread, I have to say that I feel that Congratulations are in order ... http://youtu.be/us3dQ0nnlHY
9. Over two hours and still no Mackem jokes ...
10. The design is so minimalist that the camera was unable to find anything to focus on ...

12. I've used one of those for ages at rehearsals, both on DB and on electric bass. They're even better if you get the backrest too! I found mine way too heavy and clumsy to carry around though. Most of the bands I'm involved with rehearse in my space so that makes it easy for me.
13. Welcome aboard, and the KK BabyBass is a good choice ... I use mine extensively, especially in the smaller venues. Choosing alternative strings for DB and similar is a horribly expensive thing to experiment with. In your position, I'd just phone Kris and ask for his opinion. He's a really nice guy and very helpful, plus he knows exactly which strings work best with his own basses. As for the preamp, it really depends on whether you'll be playing through your own backline, or going through the house PA (or, of course) both at once. In most situations I find it best to have a preamp with me, but not one designed for DB like a PlatPro. I've had the best results with an MXR M81, standard pedal size (i.e. small) but very versatile and with the functions/features you're actually likely to need when playing a KK live. A decent alternative is the Hartke Bass Attack, but I'd steer clear of the Sansamp range for this particular application.
14. I don't know these lads, and I'm no expert on studios either, but you could do worse than advise them to avoid the mixing process this time around. In particular, no ONE band member should be allowed to be involved. If one does it, then the whole band has to do it. If this is their first serious attempt, then their best route is to leave it to the professional. Also, that gives them all someone to blame later.
15.
Plays loads and get the one with the best B string as quite a lot of them are woeful, As always, the B string defines a 5 string.
^^^ This. I've had plenty of five-strings and the variation in the way the low B feels, plays and sounds can be quite astonishing. Personally I detest a flobbadob low B (YMMV of course) and I steered towards basses with a 35" scale quite a while ago for that reason. Obviously your preferred string choice will come into this too. White Cloud said it early in this thread ... do the shops, play loads of 5-string basses, THEN decide which one you like.
16.
If you can't get used to playing the bass then the best idea is to sell it and play something you like.
Like maybe a trumpet.
17. All of my obbm cables are still operational.

20. Can't comment on the stolen aspect, especially with so little to go on, but I'd seriously pause for thought before walking into a stranger's flat on the other side of London with a grand in cash in my pocket. If you go, be sure to take a friend.
21. MacDaddy has many long-standing problems involving Sticky Toffee pudding, but he doesn't like to talk about them in public.
22.
I genuinely keep better time on my own. I march to the beat of my own drum, quite literally.
Irishman + Drum = March
23.
Yes, he's got a woman's top on.
Yup, punk has definitely moved on from black bin-liners ...
