1. The body edge in the jackplate photo is arguably the funniest piece of relic'ing so far this year ...
2. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/70kg-folding-trolley-n48jq http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Other%20music%20related/DB%20Transport Sorted.
3. The original Hofner 185 on which this is modelled used the then-standard 'Staple' pickups. It wouldn't surprise me to find that they would fit your bass, and there's quite a few of them turn up on eBay.
4. We use one at maybe half of our gigs. We've so far only been asked not to use it once. And we've only had the Fire Brigade out once. Sadly, I'm not trying to be funny.
5.
and he stole the show.? the music is very cheesy too, with the cabaret man on vocals..
He didn't steal the show. When you bring on a showbiz drummer and put him in front of the band, he's not stealing the show, he IS the show. Couldn't agree with you more about the appalling treatment of a great rock song, especially those vocals.
6. http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/HA4700.aspx Behringer are selling these new for £87 just now (+ shipping). This unit was bought for a project that never got off the ground and is absolutely as new. 7. There's one of these on eBay at the moment which has reminded me that I really should list this. Fairly rare German-made power amp from the 80s, built like the proverbial tank and very heavy, 4U if you want to rack it. The two channels can be used independently or bridged for the full 120W. These were (I believe) intended for use as guitar amps, but a power amp is a power amp. All fully functional, no problems or issues. You'd need to be crazy to buy a 30-year-old valve amp without playing through it first, so it can be tried at my studio in Acton W3. Given the weight, this is strictly collection only!
8.
Sadly due to Grandchildren commitments I'm not now going to be able to make this. I know I could bring them but they won't all fit in the Smart with the rig.
Your grandchildren are in The Commitments?

10. There are LOADS of on-going PayPal scams just now.

13. Near as I can make out, it was actually owned by a tribute band called INDISFARN.
14. Hmmmmm ... that bass appears to be FUBAR. Yes it's a Bass Collection and I'm known to be a big fan, but God knows what that thing actually sounds and/or plays like.
15. You're absolutely right - I ordered this while recovering from my broken leg, and I forgot which year that happened! Now edited.

21. No, not a custom but a rather modified original standard bass. Whoever did the original mods wasn't very good at it and it needed a fair bit of tidying up, but it's now a great playing bass. Having had any potential 'vintage bass' value destroyed by the mods, it's also a great workhorse bass which will accept further mods (like the SD Quarter Pounders I've just installed) without needing to question my sanity.
22. Looks like a 2369B to me. Does it weigh as much as a small planet? Mine had great tone but was a real shoulder-wrecker. Collectible? Well, anything is collectible I suppose. Valuable? Not much.
23. And as a piece of second-rate desperate-marketing bandwagon-jumping it would be hard to beat. And I say that as one of the biggest Hofner fans on this forum.
