  1. Correctamundo ... a heavily pimped Hillman Imp.
  2. An occupational hazard when playing a decent car show is the never-ending drive-past / parade happening in front of the band. However, like the consummate professionals we are (oh alright then, semi-pro) we never missed a beat. 😉 The first Basschatter to correctly identify every vehicle that appears in this video will win The Square Root Of Bugger All. Answers on a postcard ...
  3. Sorted. No need to thank me. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265328011729?chn=ps&var=565176482583&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=565176482583_265328011729&targetid=293946777986&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9045963&poi=&campaignid=17116423086&mkgroupid=134652533165&rlsatarget=pla-293946777986&abcId=9300856&merchantid=107659768&gclid=CjwKCAjwrNmWBhA4EiwAHbjEQD5mPk7bGR19w6NNFOlZAUmkBWH2KurrNC_V5grZd_bH39DiVHpt8BoCxSgQAvD_BwE
  4. Note to self: When demo-ing "voices" on a pickup, try not to spend too long pedalling on the open Low B. 😂
  5. What are these "long, continuous shots" of which you speak? I just watched a video broken up into dozens of short sections which made it quite impossible to get any real feel for the scale of the place. No doubt the editor won a prize for this or something, but the video would have been far more interesting had he simply flown his drone through the entire installation in a single shot. Single-shotting is quite the thing these days, and you don't need to be Hitchcock or Orson Welles to pull it off.
  6. Well DUH! Obviously the pickup has to go in the sweet spot. Right, next question: How the hell do you find "the sweet spot"? 😂
  7. So have multiple instruments. What's not to like?
  8. Just tell her you'll be playing that in the second set ...
  9. If this is the solution, could someone please explain the problem?
  10. It's astonishing the difference it makes to have a visible "Don't Cross This Line" boundary. People have to be seriously, massively drunk or stupid to step over that, and IME the vast majority just don't do it. At least half our gigs in any year will be in pubs with no stage or band area delineation at all. We use things like https://www.vevor.co.uk/cable-ramp-c_10747/3pcs-2-cable-rubber-warehouse-vehicle-electrical-wire-cover-ramp-protector-snake-p_010293714399?gclid=CjwKCAjwoMSWBhAdEiwAVJ2ndhBprL2zGU4Up_FeLb_lPx9ubXD3jc85b2Gqm8hI_tH9mjkMNyvblxoCvF4QAvD_BwE in front of the band, backed up (as required) by https://www.safetybuyer.com/50mm-wide-black-yellow-anti-slip-tape-x-18-3m.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwoMSWBhAdEiwAVJ2ndvWac4BCyweeFWHsmTV2azWKJ9OlwLKYK4KNzd-PDGIq6vHk3LJqARoCTg4QAvD_BwE Those little touches have (so far) been all we need to keep the punters away from us and our gear.
  11. In these IndyRef 2 times, I bet there are some at Westminster who'd bring back at least one long-deleted verse: Lord, grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, and like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God save the King.
  12. All well and good, but I bet you the players still wouldn't be able to remember the words just before kick-off ...
  13. So we're back at a body filled with helium, plastic hardware, and strings made of rubber bands? Looking good, mate ... 😉
  14. In all honesty, Roger, it hasn't occurred to me to try. The feature set on amps by EA and Acoustic Image is so comprehensive, and the units so practical, that I can't see any way an improvement in tone by reverting to old-school valve amps would ever justify the aggravation that comes with them.
  15. Told my son about this. He said. "But Dad, you have a great heir". Coat fetched.
  16. But weren't you the only band in the village?
  17. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62140092
  18. I sold my old T'n'B to a guy in Croatia. I took out all the valves and wrapped them individually in (newly-washed) old socks before packing the thing up. I'm glad I did. On arrival in Croatia the local Customs guys completely dismantled the whole thing looking for drugs. The buyer wasn't even slightly concerned; he'd been expecting that to happen. He re-assembled the amp, fired it up, and away he went.
  19. What's sad is that The Great Barn is such a gorgeous building. I'd love to play a gig there one day.
  20. The more you gig, the more likely it is that you'll experience cancellations. My main band (Damo & The Dynamites) is playing something like 60 gigs in 2022. So far, we've been cancelled because Poor ticket sales (we were the support) Power cut wiping out Watford and NW London Injury in a motorbike accident Car breakdown Freak heatwave Currenty waiting for a plague of locusts ...
