  1. Would that have been enough to have the venue refuse to let him play? 😉
  2. Yes yes yes, but apart from that ...
  3. Bullet dodged. I wonder how many honest musicians he has conned over the years (trans. stolen money from).
  4. @Silvia Bluejay and I have just been talking about this ... were you using speakers on tripods or speakers on sub-woofers (i.e. boxes)? Even in a newly-ploughed field a decent tripod is a very stable thing.
  5. My preferred solution would be to avoid gigs like that! 😂
  6. In all fairness, Clarky, a Marshall amp is a really vicious, aggressive piece of kit. Now if Wily had taken one of those cute, cuddly little Matamps he'd have been welcomed with open arms. 😂
  7. Very useable video, and sound is way better than the cheap Go-Pro copies, but not nearly as clear as that from a Zoom H4n. Obviously it's an outdoor gig so different rules apply to the sound anyway. I'd post links to some of our recent videos, but (especially for outdoors & festival-style gigs) we've used such a variety of recording equipment that I don't think you'd get much from it. 🙄
  8. That is one handsome instrument, but it does look as if it should be filled with single-malt ...
  9. Incidentally, headstock footage is typically rather seasick-inducing. Assuming you don't stand like a statue while you play, you'll most likely be searching for a few 3-sec and 5-sec shots where the headstock was at least relatively still so the clips can be slotted into fixed-camera footage. That being the case, you do have the option to strap a Q2n to your headstock at sound check or a few minutes before the gig starts, grab 30 seconds of decent footage (while you mime playing) and then remove all the gubbins for the actual gig. Just saying ...
  10. I thought Bahco were a little-known tool maker?
  11. You were robbed ... those knobs aren't original.
  12. I'll take that Clarky. My 4/4 Zeller has a single-wing pickup and I rather fancy the twin.
  13. I've had two Lulls that were fitted with twin Thunderbird pickups, and they sound absolutely lush. When playing in a 4-piece or larger, my Lull T5 remains my go-to bass. Strung with flats, the bottom end is just enormously rich and room-filling, with no harshness.
  14. Just to cheer you up, here's the rig I use at every rehearsal ...
  15. ☹️ Really sorry about that, mate. I feel as deflated as you must. FWIW incidentally, that Citronic unit is another Chinese clone of a type I tried a few years back. It blew up. 😱
  16. What I was looking for was a Chowersoft, i.e. a Chinese clone of the Powersoft Digam. If you can swallow the price, these units are the only more-or-less guaranteed solution to the problem you describe. https://www.powersoft.com/en/products/touring-amps/m-series/m14d https://www.powersoft.com/en/products/touring-amps/m-series/m30d https://www.powersoft.com/en/products/touring-amps/m-series/m50q Powersoft units (and occasionally their clones by Martin Audio) come up quite frequently on eBay.
  17. OK, that's disappointing. After a couple of blow-ups with cheap-as-chips Chinese power amps, I finally found one that seems to work really well - so much so that I've recommended it to others. Guess which one it was? 🙄 Beginning to think it's sheer luck of the draw, depending on which oppressed-minority orphan working for slave wages actually assembled the unit that gets delivered to you.
  18. Which 4-channel Chinese power amp did you buy? Link?

I thought this was going to be a Mister Mister thread.
