  1. It's THIS one: https://www.andertons.co.uk/tc-helicon-voicetone-c1-hardtune-correction-vocal-stomp-box Pretty much pristine condition, it never managed to force its way onto my vocal pedal board (which already has a LOT of pedals). Does exactly what it says on the tin. Built like a tank. No extra charge for the velcro. And yes, obviously it's priced to sell. Assume £5 P&P on the UK mainland.

  3. Bizarrely enough I had a leaflet through the door this week saying I could still have good sex at 67. Which was nice. Because I live at no.78 so I won't have far to walk afterwards.
  4. Back in the 70s I lived in big shared flats & houses with loads of wannabee musos. Almost invariably guitarists, they routinely stood 6' tall and weighed 98lbs, wore ripped denim and leopardskin prints, had spikey peroxide hair and played a Les Paul. All they lacked was talent. The best of the lot was actually a pretty close friend for over 10 years and By God! did he look the business, but at every rehearsal he had to get the bass player to tune his Flying V.
  5. In similar vein, if you con a bunch of 30-year-olds into accepting a 50-year-old as a band member, how long will it be before (a) the deception is discovered, or (b) you realise how little you actually have in common with those youngsters ... they grew up listening to different music, watching different TV shows, wearing different fashions.
  6. On the lookout for a Bass VI just now and I saw this advert from the South of France. The price seemed low enough to justify the hassle & high cost of importation so I took a closer look ... https://reverb.com/uk/item/83299896-fender-bass-vi-pickguard-custom-shop?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20304708451&utm_content=campaignid=20304708451_adgroupid=_productpartitionid==merchantid=747424674_productid=83299896_keyword=_device=c_adposition=_matchtype=_creative=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw5qC2BhB8EiwAvqa41lWD_ZlVVCVr_JCIyClKWSk112_NcsENjLbP2_zlDX_nDzmuL2AM_BoC7gwQAvD_BwE
  7. What method did you use to weigh this thing? The heaviest bass I have ever owned (for about two weeks 🙄) weighed 5.5Kg.
  8. Pah! Call that blue? Huh - when I was a lad ...
  9. Early Cheap Trick carries an absolute truckload of great memories for me, but you just don't hear their stuff played any more. I suggested to my covers band that we should do Surrender and was met with blank, puzzled stares ...
  10. If I start a petition, d'ye think I could get this thread locked permanently?
  11. I get all this and I'm not arguing, but my experience has been that a problem which needs solving with one band will invariably surface again later with another band. I've sold and then had to re-buy just too bloody often. 🙄
  12. A few more details ... first up, it sounds exactly like a Zeller. I have owned and played several 3/4 Zellers and they all sound (to my ears) exactly the same. This 4/4 Zeller sounds just the same as the 3/4 only more so. Overall length (with end-pin retracted) = 80" Overall width (at widest point, lower bout) = 27" Overall depth (including bridge) = 17" Body depth (excluding bridge) = 8" Speaking length = 43" Weight (without pickup) = < 24lbs
  13. When I set up my Alumibird build with @Andyjr1515 I sent him two necks and two sets of strings so that he could select the best combination. He went with the Jazz neck, so this rather lovely Precision neck (sourced from Chris, @Beedster of this Parish) is now available. It comes nutted and ferruled. And ready for tuners to be attached. The heel is unmolested. It even comes with a scam-busting piece of paper included in the photograph. Can be collected from Harrow, or maybe meet in the West End (I do go into town occasionally), or I can post for an extra £10 P&P.
  14. The only significant change I've made is to add a Steve Whitehouse mag pickup for £200 ... it's optimised for feedback-resistant slap and it's essentially a strap-on/bolt-on Precision-style humbucker for DB. It's currently held on using Steve's completely removable system of shims and a couple of super-heavy cable ties, but he also offers a permanent attachment service from his workshop in the West Country. This pickup is NOT included in the £850 asking price. I am happy to keep this pickup as an emergency spare against the failure of one my Schaller 411s, but equally so to let it go with this bass if the buyer wants it. In that case, we can discuss a suitable price at that time. I've left it on the bass for the present, until I see which way it goes.
  15. I don't normally operate 'one in, one out' but when it comes to DBs something has to give. The arrival of @Burns-bass's lovely Alcoa (on the right) means that something has to give, and logically it has to be the least-played of my uprights, the big Zeller. And what a handsome beast it is. Bigger than a 3/4, of course, but not massively so. Stance and technique are a direct transfer, almost without adjustment at all. Comes with one of them piezo pickup thingies. And a bridge. A lovely bridge. A BLOODY EXPENSIVE bridge. Unlike 3/4 Zellers, which AFAIK always have a swell back, this has a 2-plane sort-of-flatback. The camera does not lie ... that burst on the side really is that lush. The scroll is very bit as scrolly as you'd want. In a peg-head sort of way. And it looks the same on each side. Who knew? The bass comes with this Hercules stand. And this Gewa gigbag. Which has an inside. And a back. What will they think of next? Those of you with excellent memories will recall that I bought this bass rather more than two years ago from @Joebass for a measly £350, the reason it was so cheap being that it urgently needed a new bridge, a BLOODY EXPENSIVE bridge. That cost me £500 through Thwaites of Bushey, hence the £850 price tag here. I can't find a Jiffy bag that will take this, so I'm afraid it's a) collection from Harrow HA1, or b) meet at a motorway service station / convenient coffee shop / music pub / whatever not a million miles from Harrow HA1, or c) for a flat rate additional £1000 fee I will personally deliver this bass anywhere in the mainland UK, no questions asked. Please note that this would have to be on a weekday - I'm gigging every weekend for the rest of the year.
  16. All tested, all fully functional, no extra charge for velcro. Flat rate £5 for P&P anywhere in the UK. Nigerian Princes busy on my other For Sale thread.
  17. All tested, all fully functional, no extra charge for velcro. Flat rate £5 for P&P anywhere in the UK. FISHMAN FUSION BASS POWERCHORD - £120
  18. Bizarrely enough, across the three bands I'm in this hardly ever happens. The rock'n'roll outfit has a spare drummer on call, I suppose that in an emergency the soul band could call on a spare bassist, and ... erm ... well, that's it really.
  19. Hmmmmm. There is at least a fighting chance that I once owned this.
  20. Worst of both worlds ... "Who appointed you God, then?".
