  1. Love mine. Has Labella flats and does the old school thing really well
  2. Love to know what for ….. 😉
  3. I’d advise you to take a few lessons with a DB tutor as most starters I have seen don’t naturally develop correct left hand technique (if you’re right handed). You should get more from that than you’d believe, including holding the bass. If you sit, as I do, invest in a good adjustable seat. Consider an adjustable bridge, it doesn’t look like yours is. That allows you to lower the action when you start out which eases the effort required(at the sacrifice of unamped volume). Finally, as has previously been said, play for short periods at the start. Injury is bad news. Good luck.
  4. As this thread is more active, I’m looking for a six Fretless. Something like an Ibanez SRF706 (which seems to have been discontinued) with a budget around £1200. Lined or well marked fret lines preferably. Thx
  5. Actually, put it a the second fret and you have a shot scale bass almost exactly.
  6. Some lovely basses, but rather beyond the intended budget unfortunately.
  7. The Sterling MM in HH configuration would be well worth a look and about the right money. Schecter also make some great kit in that price range.
  8. If you haven’t purchased strings yet, I’d recommend looking at Newtone strings. https://newtonestrings.com/product-category/strings/bass-guitar-strings/?v=79cba1185463
  9. I’ve always found it’s the combination of pick up and amp that makes the real difference. My chain is a K&K Bass max, RH750/450 and a Vanderkley 1x12 cab. The sound to my ears is very transparent.
  10. Thanks, but thinking sub £800ish
  11. I’m looking for a short scale (30/31”) 6 string (B-C) along the lines of a Brice HBX 406 3/4 or similar. I’ve posted in the wanted section but this forum seems more active. Any ideas for alternative models appreciated.
  12. A lovely thing. A little research shows a UK purchase of this set would currently be about €4k (£3.5k) if that helps.
  13. Bargain, you won’t be disappointed.
  14. I found this soup to nuts self learning course that I thought I’d share: https://musictheory.pugetsound.edu/mt21c/preface-1.html Enjoy

It’s a Facebook post of course
  16. Not mine, just put here in case anyone has an interest.
  17. How does this look?: https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Spector_Spectorcore_5_SH_2.html
  18. What nut string spacing are you going for? I ask as I’m about to set the spec on a custom build myself (different manufacturer)
  19. Mine is an SWB. Hope your Luthier gets well soon.
  20. Can you indicate when the outstanding Indian built deliveries will be completed pls?
  21. Always wanted a Hamilton but could never find a fiver. Settled for one of these instead.
  22. I have one if these as well. The knee pad and the external pick up alone are £300 worth. A lot more transportable than the real thing, even without breaking it down. Easier to play live (no feedback) and record from my experience. Definitely worth a punt if you’re considering DB.
