  1. I feel differently in that I have no problem with scrolling past things I don't fancy engaging with. Of the 25 threads currently on the first page of Off Topic, I may delve into about six of them, and occasionally have a look at one with an interesting/bizarre title e.g. "Are those my feet?". The mods on here could tell us if it would be easy to rig up a system where you could have the option to hide a thread but it sounds like it could be a lot of unnecessary hassle for them. That's just my guess, I don't know, I'm not a computer systems person. Again, I can only reiterate it's probably best to ignore the threads you have no interest in. It seems the simpler option. I sympathise regarding some posts that make your brain hurt. In the DoI we have to cope with the unusual stylings of @Ricky 4000 😁
  2. Thanks for answering. May I suggest just ignoring it? It's very easy to scroll by. The 'Wordle' thread does nowt for me, but if it makes others happy I've no issue with it being there.
  3. My, my, I must pry. Why do you decry the DoI?
  4. We thought that 54-46 That's My Number by Toots & the Maytals would have them all up and at it. We were wrong 😄 not a skanker in sight!
  5. I'm in like Flynn. Yet another drunken evening. It helps him to pass the time here. He's waiting for something, but what? He explores the skies every night but, so far, nothing. When will they come back for him? He waits and waits. It's all he can do... Used Three Looperman drum samples, Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard, Westfield violin bass and a homemade baritone guitar built using an old printers tray as the body. Wobbly sounds come from a hint of tremolo off of a Roland Micro Cube amp and some delay from a Vivlex pedal. Recorded with the dependable duo of Wavepad and Audacity.
  6. Oh, my! It's Percy Plant! From the splendid book Led Zeppelin - A Celebration by Dave Lewis, which is where the following snippet regarding a regrouping in early 1986 also comes from. It wasn't to be. And this, from last year, where Percy claims (probably tongue in cheek) that there's a smidgen of his bass on Led Zeppelin I. https://metalheadzone.com/the-only-led-zeppelin-album-featuring-robert-plants-bass-parts/ I'll bet it's not him doing the fiddly parts on Good Times Bad Times
  7. True. Also true. Hate the song with a passion, quite enjoyed playing the bassline when my old covers band did it. Better than having to plod through something you dislike with an equally uninspiring bass part to boot.
  8. I read somewhere that he's got a pic of snooker great Ronnie O'Sullivan's face up there.
  9. "Don't leave me hangin', I wanna be dangin'". What on Earth were they on about?
  10. If you're near Wimbledon this might be just the thing you're looking for. https://lovewimbledon.org/whatson/tuned-in-1aug/
  11. You don't think Elon Musk's got hold of it, do you? 😬
  12. Curiously, I can't access Soundcloud on the laptop (403 error) but can on my phone. Sit tight, it may (hopefully) all blow over soon.
  13. Congrats, Andy! That's a great tune and a worthy winner 👏
  14. Will be tuning in to the Other Stage at 3-45 for punk 'supergroup' Generation Sex. Cook & Jones from the Pistols and Idol and James from Gen X! Punk's not dead! I concede it is knocking on a bit, though.
  15. Here's mine. A pretty little ditty with a feel good vibe to make you want to forget all your troubles, jump up, kick your heels in the air and enjoy the simple things in life. MT Drums, HB Tele with some Vivlex echo pedal, a dash of double tracking and Westfield violin bass. Recorded using various bits of Ableton, Wavepad and Audacity.
  16. Always been a decent player. When I got my first bass I used to love playing along to his lines on the Sex Pistols live at Burton on Trent recording from 1976.
  17. Self-taught and, being left-handed, play right-handed instruments flipped over. Strummed guitar for a bit before grabbing a bass (Starforce 7008, big, heavy thing) and very much started playing in a Dee Dee Ramone style, adding bits and bobs along the way. I've got by over the years despite some of the issues mentioned (never initially paid much attention to muting or learning theory) and had a decent and successful run at playing in various pub bands. Even got some compliments! I've never been the most technically proficient but that didn't stopped me from doing it, nor did it hinder me from enjoying the experience. And I still enjoy playing although I haven't had much time of late to do so. Must rectify that immediately.
  18. Picked this up the other day. A 12 string mandolin which I believe is called a mandriola. The frets are a little wonky in places and the whole thing looks a little skewiff but it's very nice. Looks home made, especially as the bowl of it is an old frying pan! Plays well, stays in tune, very loud and it's non-stick
  19. Ben the drummer sounded genuinely contrite about the whole thing. Well done to Greg James, he got the level of chiding spot on there.
