Ther is also the much ignored but much wonderful... Warwick Reverso AS. Nothing like a P or a J or anything else you'd seen. Despite the weird look, astonishiungly comfortable and light. 38mm nut width.

I just bought my first 5er. My advice : try a bunch. I finally discovered that I needed a large string spacing to be comfy. Tried a lot of basses, but finally ended up with... A Squier Jazz Bass Deluxe V. 50mm nut width, 19mm string spacing at bridge... a dream to play... for me. Some people like tight string spacings and 44mm nuts with 15mm strings spacing. Really, try a bunch. Pickups, electronics can be changed, so sound wise, you have options. But try and find a comfortable bass for you. The Squier I bought was nowhere near my first and second list. But when I found that a large nut and string spacing was necessary to me, it becam obvious that it was THE 5er for me. (and I paid 130£, so i can even change the bridge for a Babicz, put nordstrand p'ups and another 3-band preamp in there (the OEM one is a three band. ) And, yes, a Corvette STD german is a good bass... but will it fit you ?

I'm gassing for a "plain P". I admit. I'm 42 and until 2 years ago, I always assumed I was A Jazz Guy. But couldn't be satisfied with any Jazz or double Signle coils I found (except for a Warwick Dolphin). And then I had this babe in my hands : And then all hell broke loose : I discovered I was a P guy, and I had to fill this void. So here came the rest : But that was not enough. Nowhere near... So I bought a beat-up Stagg bass and started experimenting. It finally was loaded with an EMG P and BTC control. Neck is straight, and truss is OK, a great chunk of bass for so little money... And tomorow, I'll go see, try (and probably buy) a MIke Dirnt Squier P. But believe me, there's nothing like a double P bass. The Clayton Signature will be modded to add a second P, and controls will be : stacked vol/bal, neck P'up Treble bass stacked, Bridge P'up Treble bass stacked.

Warwick basses with Double P pick ups?
Henrythe8 replied to Biaeothanata-Bassist's topic in Bass Guitars
I personally went down the "MuscleCar" road and play an amazing SD Curlee Curbeck 2. Not a warwick, but 2 Dimarzio P's, reversed and mirrored. (OK, the pic is bad, I just had it on hands, and it shows the P'up config). The price list on the Waqrwik is..; well, the pricelist. You should go to you preferred Warwick dealer in order to have a proper Street price. But you'd still be in the 4.5/5k range. I forgot to say that there are some Buzzard Bolt On, with the Warwick head and not the Buzzard one, that are more affordable. But they are quite rare and hard to find. Here's the "standard Buzzard Head" :
