GT6B...

Hey MB1, how goes? Thanks to OG there is light at the end of the tunnel - used the box last night and all is now well. Got the basic effects I need in one package (although I have to say a somewhat over-complex package for my small brain). OG... I think the "on" button is the one on the back, but I can't get it to slide - any luck?

OG! You da man! ...I have reset the to the factory presets and all has become way easier... Followed your instructions and set the Bare Bass (removed all the presets), copied the patch to my UL1 and voilá! I can now add any of the pedals live as a base set. *phew* ...adding patches up from there now. OK - first to sort the SOS... cheers Shaun

GT6B...

Thanks for the input guys... I've been trying all weekend to get to the same stage - but even knocking out the other effects you can still hear a tiny bit of, say, Chorus in the mix... Anyways, onwards and downwards. Any ideas how to make the SOS work? I've been trying to access the FX Select (page 27 of the manual) which keeps taking me to page 55 which says go to page 27... *ahem* I crave the simple life. Maybe the pedal aint for me.

...aha! Good thread that second one - funny how someone asked the same question... "how do ya just use the simple effects?" and there's a fairly simple answer, which I will try next time I have a free couple of hours... ;-) I think the lack of kids is really hindering me... I should have had one simply to explain the techy side of things and the willingness (and ability) to RTFM! But struggle on with it I will as there haven't been any bites at my attempt to sell it. If I have a breaktrhough I will pass it on (for good or bad)

GT6B...

Hi OG, ...thanks for the pdf - I'll take a gander. From my readings (at least 10 times through the manual now - very un-manly!) I think I need to create my own patches which are simply just Chorus, or Phaser etc. But then if you want the auto-wah you have to click the pre-set patch pedals and hunt up and down - it really must be easier... Self-help group? Count me in! (is there tea and biscuits?) ...it all started when the guitarists said, "so, who's gonna play bass?" doctor... Let me know when you get the box... it is a sturdy, but rather expensive tuner...
7. Thanks Pete... I have outlined the solution from Kirk (the tech at Lakland) in another post... the p/ups are no problem and now the neck is perfect! Shaun

GT6B...

Hi guys, any GT6B experts out there? I am having trouble using the very basic effects, say, just Compression, Chorus or O/D or Phaser, but for the life of me and scanning through the manual can't find how to bypass the pre-set effects which adjust different combinations of 2 or more effects, alot of the time with different pre-amp settings which I don't use/need. A simple fellow who wants a simple life... I thought getting rid of 4 pedals for one plug'nplay board would be the way to go - but I don't need my bass to sound like a chainsaw in need of a body... Any help gratefully received.
9.
Great news Shaun - what was the quick fix - is it something that would be useful to know?
This is the advice from Kirk at lakland: I think we've narrowed it down a bit. Ideally, what needs to happen is the neck needs to be rotated somehow. There are two ways of doing that. The first way is to merely loosen the neck bolts slightly and just slide the neck into a straight position. This is kind of a chiropractic move. What I usually do is put the bass on a table with the headstock propped up on something. Use towels or something to protect the finish. I then loosen very slightly the neck screws and then push down on the horn of the bass until it straightens out. I hold it in place and re-tighten the screws. There really is no need to remove the strings. Seems to be a no-brainer, but best to hear it from the Lakland tech before I blew the warranty! Worked a treat.
10. News... bass sorted! Strings now all aligned with a quick fix - don't think the neck was tightened fully and was migrating around the neck pocket. The p/up is still slightly misaligned but I don't think that causes too much of a problem... Now have to remember how to play with all 4 strings...
11.
Can't you you tilt the D and G saddles a little to force the strings towards the centre of the board?
Unfortunately, not enough. I have been in contact with Lakland - they've been incredibly helpful - and it appears my neck is not screwed down in exactly the right position - through either their rebuild or suffering a knock, which would have to be pretty serious. They have given me a self help (chiropractic) remedy, which if it doesn't work, told me to pick a luthier and have the neck professionally sorted at their cost. Sorry to steal the thread...
12. That's exactly how my 44-02D is - this is a mystery... (and your photo is the one that started me thinking... much tas)
13. Thanks Nik, I have dropped them a line with the same pic. I guess my main worry is the neck was misaligned when screwed down - I await their pleasure. Anyway, here's a couple more pics... cheers Shaun
14. Hi guys, I recently bought a Skyline Bob Glaub (I had a discussion going on as to tort or black pickguard replacement) and have noticed a problem which you maybe able to help with... Playing the top string sometimes I'll "roll" the string off the fretboard - on closer inspection I have noticed the top 2 strings are misaligned over the twin p/up poles with no way of adjusting them at the bridge as all the adjusters are packed tightly together. On the technical side, the top string is approximately 3.5mm from the nut to the edge of the neck and only 2.5mm at the last fret - could the neck be outta whack? Any help gratefully received as I find the top string quite useful at times.
15. hmmmm, looking at the pic of your BG, the strings seem to run perfectly through the p/up poles - my G and D are mis-aligned - methinks an email to Dan Lakin...
16. Hiya Peter! Nice BG! ...and a twin to mine... ...question... do you find the top string close to the side of the neck? It's quite different from my 44-02D and I have found myself pinching it over at times. cheers Sahun
