Hey Mark. I DO use the 4 Ohm version lol, and cool, thanks for explaining my 'digital amp' question; wasn't too sure myself, so thank you for clearing up
-
Not a silly question at all lol. I wish. Due to show and transportation purposes, I'm afraid I'm reduced to a 410. Generally, it's very good; in a rehearsal room, it's a total gem- on a full stage with 8 other muso's though, and it starts to feel the strain I'm currently pushing the gain to 11 o'clock and setting the master around 12 o'clock; which I hate doing as (anything past 12 o'clock) it starts to clip. My thinking is, with the LM800, I hoping that I won't have to have the knobs so high to achieve my current volume- and at least (if needs be) I have the option to turn up further. Thoughts everyone?

Hi all. Hoped I could pick your brains once more please. I've quickly come to love my LMIII for its warm, clear sound that it gives me. After playing a couple of shows with it, I can't help but feel that 500w just isn't quite cutting it against some of the larger stage setups that I find myself in (in an piece band with a loud drummer). Though I can just about hear myself, a few extra watts would be useful. My attention has turned to the Little Mark 800. Just wondering how the Little Mark 800 differs from the Little Mark III. Their website describes the LM800 as having a 'digital' power amp. What does this mean? and how will it differ (if any) from the tone I'm used to getting from my Little Mark III? All feedback appreciated. Cheers. P.S - Cab wise, I'm currently using the Markbass 104HF (4Ohm), will the LM 800 work well with this?

MARKBASS 104HF... noisy tweeter anyone?
Greg.Bassman replied to Greg.Bassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Gotcha, cheers Bill. Not sure mate; I have been reading a couple of reviews on the internet that address this problem in one way or another- maybe it's just the nature of the cab... (curiouser and curiouser). Anybody else out there that can chip in here? -
MARKBASS 104HF... noisy tweeter anyone?

Hi Bill. Forgive my ignorance, LPad? -
Hi all. Calling all Markbass users, past and present... hoped you could clear something for me please? My Markbass LM3 + 104HF (4Ohm) arrived earlier this week. First impressions have been good (very light indeed!); plenty of tonal options for such a small head! Now, my only issue is with the 104HF tweeter; it sounds considerably noisier (hissy) than any other brand of cab that I have owned previously. Even without a bass plugged in and the tweeter level set to zero, it can be heard. Is this common with the 104HF's, or a dodgy tweeter perhaps? I'm using a passive jazz with NO pedals. Rolling of the tweeter control off has no effect; only when I turn the VLE up full (or at least past 10 o'clock) on my LM3. It's not overbearingly loud, but noticeable to me- especially when I have it idle in my living room. I used it in rehearsal for the first time this week and everyone was pleased with its performance and sound. Is this something that I'm simply going to have to learn to live with, or is this a genuine technical fault? I'd be very surprised if it is a technical issue; I understand that Markbass are known for build quality. Both items came with a signed tag from their 'Constant Quality' system. However (as we all know), glitches DO happen. What you guys reckon? Cheers Greg.

MARKBASS LITTLE MARK III... recommended settings please?
Greg.Bassman replied to Greg.Bassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Lol, sorted, cheers chris b! -
Hi all. Come to pick your brains once more if I may please. Not sure what forum this should go in, 'Bass guitars' or 'Repairs and technical'? So sod it, I did both lol. I'm thinking of going for a narrower string spacing on my next axe. My current MIM Fender Standard Jazz is about 19mm I think (correct me if I'm wrong): fine for slapping, but abit of a stretch when it comes to finger style (I play lot by the bridge pickup vs small hands). I have been eyeing up some basses that are 16.5mm; fantastc for finger style no doubt, but have a feeling would be a nightmare for slap. What would you say is the best compromise between the two... 17mm, 17.5mm, 18 perhaps? Cheers. Greg.

Thanks xgsjx, appreciate it mate. Yes tbone, I agree. The VLE knob is great for that sort of thing; I've found that having it about 10 o'clock adds just the right amount of wool (for want of a better word lol) into the sound- (with a P Bass) is perfect for that space cowboy(ish) kinda vibe! -
MARKBASS 104HF... should the tweeter be yellow?

MARKBASS 104HF... should the tweeter be yellow?
Greg.Bassman replied to Greg.Bassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Same here, thats why I thought it was a little odd Anybody? -
Hey all. My LM3/104HF arrived this morning. Just wanted to double check that the tweeter should be yellow (all pics on the internet show it as black)- is this a new cosmetic that Markbass are doing now d'ya reckon? Haven't had the chance to try them yet as my basses are in the workshop; will hopefully have them out this afternoon (and have a blast lol), in the meantime just thought I'd double check on the yellow tweeter. Strange? P.s - This may seem a little trivial, still, best to check! Cheers.

Awesome, cheers Ebenezer!

Hi all. Some wonderful suggestions here. Thank you all for taking the time. Thank you to those who have sent me personal messages as well! Ok, so I'm pretty sure that I want the HF now then; as 'moonbass' mentioned, the size between the two is marginal, so sod it, I might as well settle for the front ported if it means definition and low end. Anybody else out there? Experiences on the HF? All feedback appreciated!

Hi all. Come to pick your brains once more (if I may please). Ok, so it's decided... I'm settling on the Little Mark III and a markbass 410 cab to accompany it. My question is whether to buy the standard 104 'HF' or 'HR'? I understand that the HF is front ported, while the HR is rear ported; is there really a noticeable difference between the two? or is it just a gimmick to get a few more quid out of us? I've stories about both cabs; I'm told that that the HF appears to have a 'fuller' low end, whereas the HR has a more 'controlled' low end. Initially, I was going to settle with the HR, for its size and mobility, but then a friend mentioned the HF and its kinda got me thinking since. Have I come down with a case of GAS (and instead stick with my gut feeling on the HR)? or is there something in the HF that I should really be considering? Has anyone had the opportunity to compare both side by side? Is there any other criteria (aside the low end factor) to consider with each cab? I'm not necessarily asking for a 'Best and Worse' answer, more a 'Which is better suited to my situation' answer. NOTE: * (If not all) 90% of the gigs I play have PA support, the cab will be purely for self monitoring. * I play a lot of different genres (Mostly funk, but also Rock, Blues etc). * I play a lot of big stages (ie, holiday parks, halls, festivals). * I often play in 6/7 piece bands (with LOUD drummers lol), so it needs to cut through * I intend on only using just the one 410 (as that's simply all I have the space for).
