1. I don't mind Doug, but these are Muzzy's lines! That said, it's refreshing to see footage of Living Colour playing to a reasonsbly big crowd, even if most of them probably only know Cult of Personality because it was on Guitar Hero. I'm a big fan of those first three albums although it's much a case of diminishing returns; so much unfulfilled/unrealised potential...they should have been huuuuge and achieved godlike status, but alas, t'wasn't to be. Indifferent, output, side projects, conflict. Tsk.
 2. As far as I know, LPJs of this period were either TV Yellow, Cherry or Sunburst. Insofar as the guitar having never being messed with, it's pretty obvious that it's been stripped at some point, evidenced by the remaining paint in the serial number stamp pressed in the back of the headstock. I'll wager this was originally TV Yellow.
 3.
<snip> The last thing I want to be doing is providing a taxi service at the end of a long gig, then drive home on your own knowing that your passenger is safely tucked up in bed. </snip>
I played in a band with a guitarist who liked a beer or two before he played live (and several after). Don't get me wrong, he was wonderfully entertaining when half-cut and I think the band were better for it in some respects. I concur, it's no fun driving 50 miles after a gig with a guy who is falling down drunk and then doing another 20 miles after you've dropped him off.
 4.
Is that the Valenti once owned by Richardd if this parish? G.
Three times he's had it. How many times he's owned the bass I'm not sure. As an aside, that Valenti headstock always struck me as a bit of a shocker. Looks like a dog took a bite out of it.
 5.
Pictures not neccesarily needed!
Are you mad, man? This is Basschat. Our membership can't resist.
 6.
Maybe you need a nap?
Probably. I worked for three hours today.
 7. What a nonsense. If you feared for it, why didn't you buy it? Good grief.
 8. Having someone in the band who can't drive would be a major ballache to be honest. We rehearse in a little place near Reading...it's on an old farm miles from anywhere, no public transport. We all have enough on our collective plates and to add an extra tier of hassle in picking up someone or them relying on partner/taxi? Not gonna happen.
 9. Kind of interesting...to my ears it's almost like when you run a bass through a chorus or flange, but with this you now have the ability to hold a particular point in the modulation cycle. If that makes sense.
 10.
London... The London Eye is amazing.
The London Nose is great as well.
 11.
So I want to make my rack tidy, gotta love a bit of OCD. It'll be a simple power amp and preamp combo, with space for another 1u in there for future tweakery. I want a back plate with power, guitar in, DI and speaker out. Something like the pic below. I like the idea of a single powercon socket for all items in the rack. Anyone know how to do this or someone who could make it for me even? Thanks
Here's mine, front and back. Tuner, Sansamp, Poweramp. The only minor pain in the ass is that it's a bit of a fiddle to get the XLR into the Sansamp for live applications, but otherwise, it's yummy. I bought the PSU from eBay and just keep the mains cable safe by holding it in place with cable ties. You can also see how deep the Matrix is as well; it's shallow enough that I never need to remove the Speakon cable. The Line6 wireless is permanently plumbed into the rear of the Sansamp and held in place by some 3M Dual Lock; if I chose to go wireless, I just have to make sure nothing is plugged into the front of the Sansamp. The spare power outlet allows me to run power to the wireless unit (I'm actually surprised that Line 6 don't make a receiver with a plug built in, visually like one of those Homeplug wi-fi extenders).
 12.
My latest purchase..
I think I did a little bit of jizz when I saw that first time around. It's quite lovely, Sean!
 13.
That's the spirit. Keep it light hearted and fun. Makes for better reading for me. Dave
How did that double entry happen??
 14.
Any idea why Matrix make a bass power amp? It doesnt appear to be any different to the other ones really...
I suppose it's feasible that we tend to need higher power amps to give us more headroom. It certainly doesn't look any different on the exterior. Give Robin Szemeti a shout; he was the tech guy who looked over mine when I got it and will be able to answer your questions. They're based in Kidderminster, I just drove the amp up, did a couple of local NT places locally, cream tea etc.
 15. nOW GO
That's me told
Now go and stand in the corner.
 16.
Just playing devils advocate but I thought power amp rigs were all about transformers and heft rather than light weight class d power sections? I'll get my coat. In saying that I'm just about to rehearse with the TTE 500 cause tonight's rehearsal room is a pain to get into so light weight wins the rig choice this time round!
I know I keep harping on about the Matrix, but I just tired of pushing my pre-stage through the effects return of an Ashdown ABM; size or class was unimportant, so long as it was loud, light and I could rack it up, I was happy. Irrespective of the amplifier class (it's not Class-D), the Matrix weighs in at about a 1/3 of the Ashdown and bridged is rated at 1000w, so the menage of weigh/output/size doesn't really stand up.
 17.
If you don't want a switch, there's always a push/push or push/pull pot option.
I think that definately an option on the Hamer as it has Telecaster style knobs. The Lull has silver top-hats and might look odd, so switch it be. Aaar!
What is the rough cost of the conversion?
420 English pounds for 10 LEDs. I'm just wondering what colour now...the bass is black with a lot of chrome.
 18.
I've looked at the matrix, its listed as a guitar power amp though, which puts me off slightly.
What? It amplifies. That's it. It's tonally as transparent as you can get. There's one up in the For Sale section. Get in.
 19. Provenance is a bizarre thing. As some of you will now, there's a regular auction of musical instruments at Gardiner Houlgate, Corsham...in the last sale, a small blister pack of wood shavings from an acoustic guitar 'used by Jimi Hendrix' sold for close to £500. Stupid people. Stupid people everywhere. http://guitar-auctions.co.uk/portfolio-post/lot-447-jimi-hendrix-wood-shavings-from-the-1960s-zemaitis-12-string-acoustic-guitar-used-by-jimi-hendrix-in-1967/
 20. Been here a couple of times on different threads. Had four hand operations so far and a scan six months ago showed up STT arthritis in my right hand (and similar symptoms are manifesting in my left hand too). Understandably, I'm a tad pissed about it. I'll pass on a few bits of sound advice here and while I doubt this post will even get a single acknowledgement, hopefully someone will read it and it'll help. 1) Don't crack your freaking knuckles all the time. 2) If you do get recurrent after playing, try to stop and rest your hands. This isn't like training to run a marathon; my consultatant said that hands do not particularly build up stamina or retain muscle memory and have the ability to push further next time out. 3) If pain is persistent, GET IT INVESTIGATED SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. Don't be a cock like I was; if your idea of fun is putting things off then having an operation where the pain after is so intense you would like to saw your arm off, then fine. When I think of more, I'll add them.
 21. These are fecking wonderful poweramps. Pretty much bombproof.
 22. We're possibly doing a couple of shows in Milan this summer. Thankfully, the band we're gigging with has said they'll cover all our gear. We were considering hiring a bus.
 23. A gnarly mux of Geddy Lee, dUg and JJ Burnell.
 24. Sure it would be nice to have dinner with some of my heroes, but hell, there'd be zero chemistry at work and that would ruin it for me. Apart from hair and the one time imbibement of class-A, what would Nikki Sixx and Justin Le Pierre actually talk about?
 25.
...Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy!
Are you stalking my band because that's pretty much mt last five years. That said, the Johnsons started off as two mates and a guitarist we found online. Five years later, we're pretty much the musical equivalent of Trigger's broom; I'm the only original member and we've/I've been through three drummers, three guitarists and to complete the set, three singers.
