1. The BassPOD (Mk1) was the mainstay of my live sound for years; that Skate Park tone was pretty much what I used all the time, but as time went on I bought a hotter amp that obviated the necessity of using a POD. I'm no purist, I love Line6 stuff, but right now I'm in a happy place with just an amp and cabinets. P
 2. Bit late to the party here, but I put Sperzels on my Epiphone Dot six-string. Being a ham-fisted bass player, I just couldn't keep the guitar from going out of tune. They took literally minutes to fit, string changing is a doddle and they don't budge. Quality upgrade. P
 3.
Howdy mate, I'd love the Batman, Baraka and 5th Elemant dvd's off you, just let me know how you'd like some cash for the P+P. Cheers young sir!
PM me an address please chap. P
 4.
If there any stands left i'd cover postage..
Both gone...sorry. P
 5.
I would like the Fender gig bag if still available. I am also in Camberley so very close.
Gigbag has gone...sorry. So many PMs! P
 6.
Hi, i'm interested in the stand and the gig bag and i'm in Reading Cheers Steve
Blimey that was quick! Cool...they're yours if you want 'em. P
 7. OK...having a sort out on my garage; I have: [s]A full set of UK Bassist magazines from about ten years ago.[/s] [s]A Fender gig bag (secondhand - my Geddy came in it - used but usable)[/s] Gigbag from my Waterstone bass...a bit lightweight - the bass fits snugly and is 130cm long, 40cm wide and around 10cm deep. [s]A couple of Arbiter guitar stands[/s] [s]If anyone is interested, I stopped buying Q Magazine a couple of years ago, but have them all from issue 10 or 11.[/s] First come first served. Bassist magazines weigh a ton, the other stuff is just bulky. I guess if you want to collect, I'm in Crowthrone, Berkshire (Reading ten minutes). Also some DVDs (just do me something to cover P&P) Little Britain (series 1) (2DVD) Fifth Element Pirates Of The Caribbean (2DVD) Baraka Batman Begins (2DVD) I have a couple of white BT hub phones (model# 1010)...we hardly used them; unboxed with batteries, chargers and cradles - cover P&P and they're yours. P
 8.
I have limited experience at present but will be adding a comprehensive post on my Ric thread after a few more rehearsals and gigs. I will say that it has taken me some time to get anything close to the sound I wanted from the bass as a whole (the result of numerous problems which I guess are part and parcel of putting together a bass). However, having tried various strings, EQs and playing styles, I think I hit the jackpot on Tuesday. I will say that the SD Ric PUPs are a PITA to install, are not direct drop in replacemnt for Rics by any stretch of the imagination (the neck PUP is too small and the bridge too big), the retainer bolts are of extremely dubious quality in that they don't seem to be the right width/thread for the holes they're supposed to fit in, the circuit diagrams misleading and the plastic PUP surround for the bridge PUP probably the cheapest piece of plastic I've ever come across However.... I quite like the sound As I said, I'll update the Ric thread when I feel I've something more concrete to say Chris
I was just composing a PM to you! I'm thinking about dropping them into this; as you'll see by the cavities (not pretty), the necessity of whether or not the screws line up etc. isn't so important. There's some cheapish sets up on eBay (USA) at the moment (£120.00). I was (and still am) interested in whether they have the clank. P
 9. Anyone had any experience of these pickups? Similar to Rick tone? I've found one [awful] You Tube video, but little else. Edit...should add that these are not for a Rick - they're for a Jazz-esque project. Cheers P
 10. I'm still waiting for confirmation I got them. Or didn't. P
 11. I'll take them. I'm desperate to get my project bass up and running... PM me with Paypal details. Cheers P
 12. I'm in New York at the moment - I played a few Sadowsky basses a few days ago in Sam Ash/Manny's and have to say I was kind of knocked out at the quality and sound. I've previously passed these off as expensive Jazz/Precision clones, but they by far exceed anything I've played in a long while. I feel some GAS coming on... Sweet. P
 13. No problem with Paul Gray or anything...seen the bloke live a few times, but (on a note of triviality) I couldn't resist having a nosey at what he's been buying recently on eBay. Paul Gray? A Washburn Mandolin and a Stormtech weatherproof coat (£6.30). P
 14. I don't know...Nikki Sixx used to use a striped one with the same headstock, I think it's kind of cool. P
 15. Mmm. Pointy. I would have gone for this a few years back, but sadly (and with my metal years behind me), not now. Lovely bass though. P
 16.
I think it's Alain Johannes...
Alain Johannes from Eleven? Wooo. They're supposed to be playing at Reading Festival this weekend. P
 17. Now let's see. I had a MAG 2x10 combo and still retain a MAG 1x15, a 4x10 and a 2x10. For the money, they're very good value and at this stage see no reason why I ought to trade up. They weight a ton and suit me. Granted I use a different head now, but the cabinets are fine. P
 18.
Just been looking at http://www.bassplayer.tv/ and the interviews with Geddy ''Bass Collection''. He there mentions that his new Basses will have new tuners, (seem to remember he always fitted Schallers to the Ric's.) is this true?. Also he mentions the sanded down unlacquered neck finish, this too?, wouldn't think its a very good idea here in old soggy uk though.
That's an old/quite old piece of footage; maybe a year to eighteen months. There was another interview I saw with GL that pre-dates this where he says they had issues with the machines. P
 19.
Hubba!
Yes yes. P
 20.
we have a winner.
Woohoo! I never win anything! P
 21.
What worries me is the pure Marmite factor of Rics
In my formulative years, it came as no surprise to me that Steve Priest (Sweet), Geddy Lee and Bruce Foxton grabbed my attention. I did go through a phase where I just adored them - obviously given the above - but aside from a very nasty Hondo II copy I didn't bite. As the years rolled on, I fell out of love with the body shape and it seemed that irrespective of the bass used, I was always getting a close emulation of that 4000-series tone, so that kind of satiated my desire. I've seen a handful of very pretty all-black 4000s recently that have made my heart skip a beat and [lack of a mortgage] has reignited my interest. I guess I'd just like to try one for a rehearsal and see whether I'd been making a mistake in non-ownership over the last thirty years. P
 22. Concerning the pickups/loom I'd certainly be interested in how close and replacements sound to the original units. I've been a big fan of that Geddy Lee/Chris Squire sound, but I'm just no fan of the 4000 series shape; it just doesn't do it for me. I considered installing SDs on a project bass, but the over cost turned me away. (I'd be interested in the original Rickenbacker pickups if the project came with them though.) I'm assuming that SD/Bart have done their homework and you'd hope that the replacements go some way to emulate that clank. I'm following this thread with interest. Good luck with it. P
 23. Just purchased an Ashdown 2x10 from Barny; top bloke and a pleasure to deal with. Shameless plug; check out his band as well: Thinking For Tuesday - it's good stuff. Best P
 24.
Actually, forget the postage... I'll send them out FOC.
PM'd! P
 25.
This is a fantastic amp! I ran one of these for several years and it never let me down. Like you say, clean sounds are not really its thing, but as a killer-sounding rock amp with built-in dirt, there's not much to touch it, especially at that price! Totally wipes the floor with an SVT-3 for tone IMO... Good luck with the sale!
...and it's still giving sound service sir. I f2cking love it. P
