1.
...he had a huge crowd of interested people around him at the time shows that it's still impressive to a lot of people...
A few years ago I was leaving a gig at the Astoria in London and saw a large crowd of people surrounding a couple of people who were having sex on some stairs leading into a building. It was about 11.00pm. I suppose a lot of people thought that this was particularly impressive, but it's not really something I want to see in public. P

3. I've followed Steve Barr's (Dudepit) activities for a while and got to thinking about these Skyline DPLE models he got going in recent years. He's mentioned previously that Lakland need (I think) 25 orders for a custom request model to be built and made available. As some of you know, in a couple of months I will be mortgage free (yay!) and will be looking to boost my bass armoury with a Lakky (or two) and got to thinking that why don't we try and commission a BCLE model? There certainly seems to be a few Lakland fans on this forum, but whether they'd be willing to part with £1,000+ for a bit of history is questionable though. I certainly wouldn't mind getting the ball rolling and make some preliminary enquiries to Lakland to find out their minimum order quantity is for a limited run. Seeing as how I thought of this (heh), my primary request would be that I get model #1 and that it would be for an edition of the DJ5, custom colour, but NO Dark Star pickups. Perhaps we could get John East in on the act to retrofit his superb retro units once they are in the country (this might also save on some tax and duty). I know there would certainly be a waiting period of six months or so, so there's no real rush...I know that they'd need a deposit on order. Anyone interested in doing this? P
4. Can I just make a straight remark here (and I'm not looking for a fight)? If this was a guitarist we'd all be saying it was a load of fretw*nk. I'm sorry, but that sort of playing is just drivel and it doesn't have any place in a musical sense. OK so the guy can do a lot of fancy tricks. Duh. And no, I can't 'play' like that, nor do I have any inclination to learn and do so either. If I actually had to listen to a musical track with that going on in the background I think I'd upchuck. P
5. I was having a looksie at the Sky listings for the next week or so and there's a show about John Entwistle on Biography (Channel 156) next Wednesday evening. Can't confirm the time...6.00pm I think. Not a big Ox fan to be honest, but he had (and destroyed) some great gear. P
6. I used to have a white Hamer Scarab bass (the guy from Def Leppard used to use one). It had a fantastic piano like tone, the thinnest neck I have ever played, but in hindsight, jeepers, what was I thinking? Some guy took it off my hands in a PX deal on a '79 Precision I'm still using seven or eight years ago. If anyone is interested in seeing this beauty, I can scan a photo in over the next day or two. P
7.
This looks a bit like Nicks (OHM's) old DJ5? If so give it a bit of time. I just bought one - a twin of this but black sparkle - hate it at the mo but will try and grow to love it. If not ignore the above and good look with the sale.
If it's a DJ5 and you still hate it around March/April, please send me a PM. Thankee P

9.
Yes, I totally agree.. the ole addage 'if it ain't broke...' etc etc... I was using the POD XT rack straight into a power amp.. I think its a really good way to go. I loved my XT, unfortunately had to sell at the mercy of a motor vehicle! I'll have another one one day! Out of the list above, the power amp that stands head and shoulders above the rest for value for money is the Yamaha P5000 or P7500. Absolutely ram packed with features.. and buying online they work out pretty cheap too.
I've had a quick look on Th*m*nn and am genuinely (and pleasantly!) surprised at how reasonably priced the power amps are. My old Trace Eliot one cost a fortune and I let it go for a bag of beans. I think the Yamaha P2500S or a Behringer EP2500 will be more than adequate - my head is racing now - the racked bass POD will work fine with these and there's a crossover to bi-amp. I have an Ashdown deep bass 1x15 as part of my existing set up and I can pick up a matching Ashdown 4x10 easily enough, then sell on my existing POD and Ashdown MAG to fund part of it. I've mentioned before that I should be mortgage free in about three months, so some new gear is a certainty. The lads I play with now are sooooo loud. P
10. I think when you're just using the same set up (POD>Ashdown>Cabs) and are reasonably happy with it (well, until quite recently) you just stick with what you know and in this instance, avoid looking elsewhere. I'd like to go with a racked Bass POD + Power Amp>2 cabs in the near future. I only really knew the Trace amplifier by experience. Will investigate! Thanks! P
11. I used to have a Trace Eliot PPA300 stereo power amp a few years back...I really wish I'd hung onto it. Can anyone help me out with at least the names of some manufacturers of 2U stereo power amps please! Thanks P
12. Crowthorne calling! Crowthorne calling! Welcome to the gang. P
13. I own a MAG combo and a deep bass 1x15. Generally I use a Precision into a Bass POD as a front end then direct into the effects return. I've used this set up almost exclusively for about four years. This week, I really couldn't be arsed to break all the kit down, so I left the POD at home. I have to say I was distinctly unimpressed by the standalone Ashdown setup. The sound just didn't cut through, it sounded very wooly and dull - the only real positive was that when I use the POD, my e-string really booms...through the Ashdown it was more even/compressed. My drummer remarked that when I use the POD my sound is everywhere, so next week, I'll pack the unit. One noticable thing was that my signal into the passive input was very hot - my Precision has a SD Quarter-pounder in it - I could only turn the gain up to about position three or four before the VU meter was showing me well into the red (clip)....consequently, not much was going into the power amp stage. I'm not about to change this setup (well, not just yet...) as ultimately I'm pretty happy with it when I use the POD working as the pre-stage. It's also very portable and loud enough for right now. When the drummer gets his DW kit, I may be moving it on. P
14. Right now I couldn't care less for presents...so I'd like it to snow. Or at the very least be frosty. P
15. I'm hoping that with my mortgage paid by April (hopefully), with the spare swag I'd like to pick up a Lakland DJ5, a Geddy Lee signature, Bongo 5HH. I'd like to cobble together a Spector/Thunderbird from parts. While I doubt I'd throw (much) money at my amp setup - I can see myself buying something small for home use and keep my main amp in my garage so I can load/unload easier. Totally unmusical, I see us having a couple of holidays next year too. P
16.
Yeah - Sorry I'm afraid so. Maybe you missed the bit where it says SOLD???
Yup, I saw it...I was just, oh never mind... P
17. Is this sold?
18.
Hi everyone I'm having a few issues financially, so I've had to sell up tons of stuff I've got around the house, And I've got a big house. 19.
And Crowthorne being so close too... I'm in no real rush to sell, so you never know. It could still work out
Well let's see what happens...I want to add several basses to my armory once we get this mortgage paid off. I'm psyched that it's happening soon and I'm gonna have a serious amount of swag to consider throwing at basses. A pair of Lakky DJ5's, a Musicman Sub5 (I like that the Stingray4 look has been used on the Sub5), ummm a Geddy Lee (might even consider going the custom shop route and getting a red one), a white Gibson Thunderbird and a Bongo 5HH are on my list. I'm being serious here. I'd also like to get something built, maybe in a Jazz style, that I can bastardise and trash about a bit...have the opportunity to try out some different guts in it...you know like a pair of Stingray or Rickenbacker pickups. Anyhow it's my birthday today, so I'm cutting loose and gonna watch Chelsea on Sky and enjoy my day. Maybe we'll speak later! P

22. Used to borrow a Jedson Telecaster bass - much like the one on sale in this very site. 1st proper one was a white Arbiter SG bass - £35.00. P
23. Jeepers! A Jedson Tele was my first bass...then an Arbiter SG...then a Columbus Jazz. Then it got all serious with a Travis Bean. Fond memories. P
24. Amy also uses a Waterstone Tom Petersson 12-string bass...I've one of those babies. Monster tone. P
25. Have a looksie at this link: Gibson Les Paul 'Robot' Guitar. Scroll to the video page and down to the instructions button. Christ! Soon to be appearing on a bass or are guitarists just too anal? P
