You know...... you may like my New 22 fret Jazz, it's got a different body shape to the 20 Fret Jazz, not that it's for sale like
-
Total April fool...... it's just the front of now defunkt SA200 photoshopped onto a bass..... LOL !! "All the features that made the SA200 so desirable....." LMAO
Not in the NE I assume?
Keighley..... close enough if ya serious enough !! HOW MUCH DO YA WANT IT PUNK !!!
You really think so? One-in-five bass players in the UK do it because of Mark King? Nah. One-in-five Mark King fans, maybe.
Interesting to note that 74.3% of statistics are made up on the spot !! I started playing bass after hearing Marcus's lines on Luther's first Album, then got into Level 42 shortly after Could be a threat on it's own this....... if it's not been done already !!
Anybody got an MV4 I can try? Seriously though, I'd equally love to try a 'downsized' Sado but even your mate Steve doesn't have one in stock! Hence the chance to try a DJ seemed more likely. You never know I might strike lucky and find a good Skyline!
CHRISDABASS now has 2 downsized Sadowsky basses...... the lucky bugger !!!!

OMG...... what a carry on !!!!
Fair comment, Marcus - I think a lot of it also depends on our hearing. Obviously we all hear different frequencies better & for me a Precision gets buried in the mix, whereas my Status basses always cut through.
Very true...... my lugs are pin sharp since I had grommits fitted, went through a couple of years not really hearing much top end, my Alembic years I like to call them

Hey Up mate..... You did like my full size Sadowsky didn't you !! For me the Lakland Skylines are chalk and cheese from their USA cousins, picked up some nice ones and some dogs.... The Sadowsky Metro's are virtually identical to the NYC basses..... Buy a MV4 and live happily ever after !!

I think if I had to summarise it....... A good status, with a suitable amp and the right EQ, in the right room, in the right band, when jupiter is perfectly aligned with saturn, can give you a great tone that can "carve" through a band mix. A Good Precision / Jazz bass into any amp with the EQ flat in any room on any day just punches a hole in the mix carries weight and get's heard. Just my opinion..... but it's based on my experience..... could say the same for Alembic, Jaydee, GB as well.
MB1. Unsure if theyre the Current "In Thing"... they continue to sell well in fashion or not!..... they hold there value......and they are British!......Which is Nice!
Agreed...... I'll most likely buy a KB II or a headed Empathy befor the year is out, although i'll use it in the house for "Tidly-bop" cos generally i've found them useless in a band situation..... I'm sure they record well and are great for theatre stuff..... but put them up against 2 Marshall stacks and you're looking to borrow a P Bass for the 2nd set !!!
That's right, let's all knock what we haven't tried, don't understand, or worse still can't afford. The detractors here quite simply have way too much time on their hands.
Well that's one perspective mate..... In my case..... I've most likely had more Status Basses than you have, certainly understand them and could buy a dozen if I fancied !!! My original point was about whether or not they are the current "In Thing" not if they are good instruments !

Three bored Geordies / Mackems, four Aguilar cabs and a DB750.
So, tell us about 4 112 cabs.
Very Loud, very very loud.... full bodied and very very tight bottom end, I thought it might get a little wooley with the 4 of them but not at all, It punched you in the back of the head stood in front of it..... Shame we didn't think to video some of the other stuff...... bit of an after thought, we had some canny gear in the room !! -
Vintage style instruments are indeed more popular and of course, more accessible. But I'm not really getting this 'fashion' thing people keep mentioning. Have a look at my avatar. I'm a musician. Not some kind of fashion icon, LOL!
For those of us who don't earn a living from our instruments, fashion can play a huge part of building desirability (and therefore sales) into a brand. Regardless....... in however many years of Basschat / Basstalk etc never seen so many Statii up on the block !!

Seems like every other day another shiny plank of graphite lovliness is up on the block here..... Has the Status resurgence fizzled out...... ? Are Status Basses once again out of vogue ?
I started on a 5 string so I use it like you guys use the E just I start all my lines at the 5th lol I couldnt imagine being limited to four and having to jump up octaves all the time when you run out of low notes. The other advantage is it really screws with the guitards mind when he looks at you to see what root you are playing haha
This for me is reason enough to own a 5 string !!!! .... maybe even the reason i've been looking for !!!

I guess it would have been a fair bit cheaper prior to the currency shift..... A year or so ago (when the idea was conceived) it may have made it closer to the £350 - £400 price bracket
You're operating with two basic misconceptions. The first is that 'getting all the watts out of my amp' will make any difference in how loud you'll go, the second is that the specs published by Aguilar are worth the paper they're printed on. That said, you'll get a better result with Eminence 3012HO drivers, which have higher sensitivity than your current drivers, and longer throw. They're only available in 8 ohms, but there's no benefit in going 4 ohms anyway. Most likely less than an hour. Deciding on a driver for a simple reflex box is a long way from rocket science, and more often than not boils down to whichever Eminence OEM is available at the desired price.
Hi Bill..... Of all the bass amp manufacturers i'd be inclined to believe Aguilar..... arn't a lot of bass amps power outputs quoted for a particular frequency only ? I believe my DB750 is capable of putting out it's power accross the full frequency spectrum as opposed to say 800hz or whatever ? I know their cabs are made by another company so I have more faith in their amplifier topology than their speaker design thanks for the Driver tip, i'll look into cost / availability in the UK - would I lose any nearfield sound by having driver with a longer throw ? Best Regards Mark

+1 for the in ear sennheisers...... Got mine for £50 from HMV forget the model ! 200/300/400 ?? I like the fact that the cable is very thing and easily dressed up an behind the ear....... ised them for Bass Practice, IPOD and IEM at gigs all with superb results.... I purchased some mega expensive Shure ones like £150 VAT free at the airport when I was flying to Dublin once, thought they were pretty poor so got a refund..... tried all of the different foam & rubber bungs and they just sounded thin and lifeless to me.... ATB Mark

Get the bigun mate........ Markbass can seem to defy the laws of physics when it comes to weight, but ya still need big drivers and big boxes to move big air !!
See me mate and we'll see what your x2 GS cabs with my x2 DB cabs sound like!
Now that sounds like a laugh !!! Let's get it on !!

can't see a rush for LMIII's feature set doesn't seem to be that much improved, can't imagine the tone being that much better / different
