My old Lakland! Lovely bass - sounded great too!
Yes both lovely basses...so hard to decide which is my favourite, I like the fact the Lakland has the passive option too. I could add a couple of hundred if anyone fancies a trade for a jazz (Flea would be great) or Stingray or Ray 34, Limelight or other 4 strings. Or cheaper basses with cash top up (Sire ?) Also interested in a Mark bass combo as a trade
I've had (and have) the good fortune to work with many incredible musicians, some classically trained - the type of people so talented that, as someone who has yet managed to commit the names of the notes to memory, can reduce me to tears. And to a man jack of 'em they will not learn ANYTHING! I wonder sometimes why they even bothered to get so good.
+1 - a large contributor to why I left the functions band I was with. It had become overcome with apparently super talented deps (most of whom only interested in jazz and money), who were so good that it was not in their 'economic interest' to ever actually learn the parts and to just wing it at the gig. The best was a sax player who refused to do 'One Step Beyond', because the dots looked too complicated...still got paid above and beyond.
exactly the same as my 2013 P Fender CS60s pickups, possibly the best pups in decades. Concensus seems to say the 2010 to 2016 Am Stnds are the best ever, I can't rgue with that.
Cheers guys - from what's been said it must be why we're bonding...loving the tone

Rarely do I do a NBD as I change my basses on what seems almost like a daily basis .....not in search of the eternal wonderful tone I hasten to add, rather i just like trying different basses and gear.....and it seems Mrs Raslee is for life and probably would result in too much of a [s]financial[/s] emotional loss to change that one...as often. Basses are easier to flirt with and swap around.....ahem crude hypothesis alert! Anyhow enough ramble, out with the Stingray (which I loved for a while but time for a change), and in with a 2012 USA Precision with a nod to the Jamerson look that I dig. By god does it sing - think the trader said it had a 60's type pick up???, It is really funky, light, and well just sexy and simple.....don't get me wrong I'm 'probably' a jazz man at heart but i do bloody love a good P and so far this seems pretty darn good......I'm sure I'll sell it soon when the honeymoon 24hrs wears off as I'm clearly a self confessed gear [s]consultant [/s]tart at heart - P Love to all the P lovers....i'm back in the club

Great basses the 50's, brilliant tone & quality. Funny enough I've picked up a 2012 USA P today and the quality on the MIM 50's was easily on par. Shameless plug, but, I have hipshot d-tuner I'm going to sell on here that goes on the 50's (reversed tuner too) Any how enjoy that bass, surely a classic in the making

Thank the Lordy for the TV catch up feature 😎

I used one in a seven piece function band (swing/soul) and it performed admirably. Best of all it fit perfect in an MX5 boot - Great amps!

SOLD - Decided I'm keeping my Cort Custom 5 string so the Lakland 5501 is the one to go: Brilliant bass, lots of love for them on here and Talkbass - just google them £425 Superb B string, 19" spacing (i think...certainly wider than a 17mm Stingray 5 i owned), plays great Anyhow looking for £425 , welcome to collect/trial in Plymouth Devon - Cheap fender soft case only but can be well packed for courier if necessary. If your interested talk to me Here they are together, awww:

TRADED- Fancy a change for a nice passive J or P, preferably Fender and ideally a rosewood board but may consider others, quite like relics i.e. Limelight, Flea bass, Roadworn etc The Stingray is 2009, black with rosewood and a player, not an untouched show piece, plenty of gigging mojo as mostly highlighted in the pics but nothing that affects playability. It's actually a really nice player and by far my favourite Ray to date having owned several over the years, Classic 2 EQ, compensated nut. The case has a cracked corner as shown in the pics, could be glued but it never bothered me - still perfectly functional. As a bonus it has two pickguards, tort and black, and a hipshot BT1 D-Tuner (original included). As I say it's a great player with the nicest Stingray neck I've played - perfect gigging Stingray! Weight is 10.1 lbs , nut width 42mm.

I'll stand up for Logic X if you go the Mac route. Loads of online videos, forums etc and for the money it is pretty amazing...loads of loops, loads of presets - what else do you need ? (Awaits someone to predictably say Reaper...not tried it personally but mildly intrigued )
-
Bass...easy to get into, harder to get out off ....and expensive

I should really get to know my R24. I only use mine as a recorder/control surface into Logic - works reasonably well. But the sampling features intrigues me...just wish this unit had a MIDI connection.

Yeah great b-line and tune...love noodling this tune sat on the sofa

Did a bass trade with Eric a while back now. The trade went effortlessly and smoothly plus Eric was a top gentleman throughout. As our trade was done via a well known social media app I invited Eric to join Basschat - here we are, enjoy the G.A.S. Buyers & sellers can deal in confidence
