1.
Great basses these, I love mine
Yes I know I'll regret it, and will probably own another when funds permit. I much prefer this to my mates USA P too, the tone is very 'vintage'
 2. That's yummy. Where from? How much?
 3. These basses need little introduction and are totally superb P basses in my opinion punching way above their weight. This one is up for sale/trade with a heavy heart but I need to sell on to fund some upgrades to my other basses that I regularly gig with. This bass comes as standard plus the additional upgrades of a tort guard (original anodized gold plate also included) and a hipshot D-tuner (original tuner included). Stock pic (actual pics below): The Fender 50s Precision Bass Features:

Body: Alder
Neck: 1-Piece Maple, "C" Shape, (Gloss Urethane Finish)
Fingerboard: Maple, 7.25" Radius (184 mm)
No. of Frets: 20 Vintage Style Frets
Pickups: 1 Precision Bass Split Single-Coil Pickup (Mid)
Controls: Volume, Tone
Pickup Switching: None
Bridge: American Vintage Precision®/Jazz® Bass
Machine Heads: Vintage Style Reverse Tuning Machines
Hardware: Nickel/Chrome
Pickguard : Gold Anodized Aluminum
Scale Length: 34" (863.6 mm)
Width at Nut: 1.750" (44.5 mm)
Unique Features: Vintage Styling, Anodized Aluminum Pickguard, Synthetic Bone Nut
Strings: Fender Super Bass 7250ML, NPS,
Gauges: (.045, .065, .080, .100)
Accessories: Deluxe Gig Bag included
This bass was around £850 last year and is pretty much immaculate, I still have the receipt somewhere and the upgrades were around an extra £100. It's mainly been the home/studio bass and the tone is to die for, best P tone i've ever had to be honest. I'm looking for bargain £550 as standard or £650 with upgrades + courier costs (around £20 or less in the UK or collect from South Devon UK). or Trades are very specific (plus cash my way): John East Pre Uni deluxe 4 knob and/or a 5 knob version...ideally with all the knobs. Aguilar 4J-60 pick ups (4string jazz) Aguilar Supersingle D2 5 string (P2 size) pickups ....may at a push consider something like a Squier CV P bass and at least £450 my way.
 4. The ROg W has the Quater pounder pick up IIRC. Quite a hot and rock tone, very fat. I now own a Classic 50's and it's pretty damn good, the tone and pick up is classic old P. Having tried both I'd pick the classic every time - it's quite a funky old school beasty and despite usually preferring a jazz width neck I've actually bonded quite well with the shallow cricket bat. Great P's
 5. ALL SOLD Gutted, childcare arrangements have fallen through and it's proving to be a logistical nightmare for me so I am sadly putting up my tickets for sale - 4th & 5th March Olympia Conference center. 6.
Here & Now, Gong, Hawkwind...if I really wanted to be out of my depth then the Grateful Dead. It IS a fantasy, right?
I'm with ya ... Gong, Ozrics for me
 7. It looks alright on my sunburst P now, maple neck...quite happy with it
 8.
Update us ? I quite fancy one myself
Well I guess you'll need to make your own mind up, but 6.5/10 for me - would have liked less custard although it's not terrible - it'll go on my MiM 50's Classic P with a few extra holes. Edges look good/aged (coffee?) - pics https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0OGAfJVYGa5ILA
 9. Have ordered one
 10. Having recently done a trade with Grant, my Lakland for his Musicman, I can honestly say he is a true gent, trustworthy, and clearly one of Basschat's good one's...buyers & sellers will have no issues here, great communications throughout, and a real pleasure to deal with from start to finish
 11. Wow, what a bargain! I have one these without the upgrades and they are worth every penny. Having been through a lot of P's over the years the 50's is the best I've played. I think some people have reservations about being Mexican but I can assure buyers these are top quality players and the quality is astounding. Someone will get a great Precision bass here
 12. A reggae band I played with were asked to play a wedding...all was proper irie until the brides dad announced in the interlude "the band are now, by speacial request, gonna play a Quo track for me"....ahem cue 12bars of grinning
 13.
Where are the BBOT fans to tell us that this never happens and it's the greatest invention ever? "Slap a Badass on it!".
The man has a point
 14. I did frantically google to see if such a solution existed such as an adjustable alternative bridge. But as others have mentioned I don't think it would work with the neck. I thought I would get used to the 17mm with persistence but I've admitted defeat. Anyhow I've had a lot of interest via Facebook so it looks like it'll be a happy ending, and I have a 19mm fiver lined up via here, but if Ernie Ball ever do bring out a 19mm SR5 I think I would find it hard to resist as they really are pretty awesome basses NOW SOLD VIA FB
 15.
They do that sometimes. Just use a bit of loctite threadlock or something similar on it.
cheers...sounds like a trip out to B&Q
 16. Got one of those wonderful Mex Fender 50's Precision's a while back and I have to say I'm really impressed with it - even adapting to the chunky neck, perfect P tone IMO. However, when i pick it up for a little spanking having been hung up for a few days I find the G string buzzing on the neck. Now that isn't a line from a porno but a freaky experience where a single bridge saddle screw is winding itself loose and automatically adjusting the action. I've adjusted the height several times now only to find it's wound itself down the next day. Now as a professional mental health worker by day I often associate the paranormal with a large percentage of my caseload, and I've learned many years ago that superstition really is just a great grooving funk tune. But guys do I need to call the Ghostbusters and if so has anyone got their number? Thread shot perhaps? (not this one i hasten to add), any ideas you lovely bunch ?
 17. SOLD/Traded via Facebook Really gutted to be moving this on so soon after a recent trade here on Basschat but I'm really not getting on with the 17.5mm string spacing, I've tried for hours on end but it isn't happening . It really is a superb bass in every way apart from the spacing for me, i love the feel, tone etc - i'm so gutted but a 19mm is clearly what i need. Original sales add: http://basschat.co.u...oneyburstmaple/, and Jack the original seller is a top chap too - hope you don't mind me using the photos mate Can courier at cost from Plymouth, Devon. May consider trades and cash my way if necessary; particularly like P's, J's, Musicmen ,Stingrays and quirky basses, no six's though please and 5's must be 19mm string spacing. Could add a little cash for a 70's P , or 70's stingray perhaps. It's priced to sell at £975, previous owner who has had it since new had it up at £1100 so grab a bargain - although trading up i'd value it around £1100 towards something. Also includes MM case. Not really interested in sub £400 basses, Squiers or Mex Fenders, or any heavy metal esq basses, or even basses over 10lb's, neither i am into heavy amps/gear . 18. SOLD
 19. Thanks for all the lovely comments guys, yes this one is quite special but it isn't sadly getting used as much as it should...in fact i've moved over to the darkside and mostly playing P's & 5's Anyhow, with further adieu she is now on hold for Rumble.....the neck may still be available however
 20. SOLD The MJT body, is essentially an aged 60's Olympic white with superb checking etc - very authentic and i should think so for nearly £360 and then import duties from the states- swamp ash and simply brilliant attention to relic detail. The neck is an All Parts (Licensed by Fender), with a tinted headstock over the decal to look aged - like the typical late 60's/70's jazz. The neck is really smooth and a pleasure to play. Pick ups are Fender Pure Vintage 74's - total Marcus Miller and are very good - do your research!!!. It has 70's style genuine Fender tuners and a hipshot D-tuner. BBOT bridge. Fender S1 controls/CTS pots etc. Tort plate 60's style...may have alternative scratchplates if preferred. No expense spared on this bass and it easily owes me a lot more than the price i have it up at. On par, if not better than Limelights that have passed my way, action is very low and it's a great sounding bass from warm vintage to probably the best slap tone i've heard...not that i play much slap however. Selling as it's simpley more of a wall decoration, i tend to play my Vanderend jazz and i don't really need two jazzes. Would entertain trades for a 5 string with 19mm spacing i.e. Lakland 5501 or similar, or possibly sterling ray34 CA or could add cash for a cheapish Stingray 4. Can courier for cost or meet in Devon More pics upon request:
 21. Just done a bass swap with Jack, both of us are happy, the trade was quick , efficient and hassle free, and communication was top notch throughout. Buyers & sellers can deal in confidence as Jack is confidently a credit the Basschat community. All the best
