1. Thanks for all the lovely comments guys, yes this one is quite special but it isn't sadly getting used as much as it should...in fact i've moved over to the darkside and mostly playing P's & 5's Anyhow, with further adieu she is now on hold for Rumble.....the neck may still be available however
2. SOLD The MJT body, is essentially an aged 60's Olympic white with superb checking etc - very authentic and i should think so for nearly £360 and then import duties from the states- swamp ash and simply brilliant attention to relic detail. The neck is an All Parts (Licensed by Fender), with a tinted headstock over the decal to look aged - like the typical late 60's/70's jazz. The neck is really smooth and a pleasure to play. Pick ups are Fender Pure Vintage 74's - total Marcus Miller and are very good - do your research!!!. It has 70's style genuine Fender tuners and a hipshot D-tuner. BBOT bridge. Fender S1 controls/CTS pots etc. Tort plate 60's style...may have alternative scratchplates if preferred. No expense spared on this bass and it easily owes me a lot more than the price i have it up at. On par, if not better than Limelights that have passed my way, action is very low and it's a great sounding bass from warm vintage to probably the best slap tone i've heard...not that i play much slap however. Selling as it's simpley more of a wall decoration, i tend to play my Vanderend jazz and i don't really need two jazzes. Would entertain trades for a 5 string with 19mm spacing i.e. Lakland 5501 or similar, or possibly sterling ray34 CA or could add cash for a cheapish Stingray 4. Can courier for cost or meet in Devon More pics upon request:
3. Just done a bass swap with Jack, both of us are happy, the trade was quick , efficient and hassle free, and communication was top notch throughout. Buyers & sellers can deal in confidence as Jack is confidently a credit the Basschat community. All the best
4. Bought this detuner from bass direct for £72 for a bass that was traded on shortly after. It was briefly fitted to a (right handed) Highway Precision that was never used outside the home whilst i owned it. I could do with a BT3 for my Fender 50's P or a BT1 (preferably gold but will take a chrome) for my Schaller gold BML tuner set so would entertain trades on them or £50 posted Specs: https://store.hipsho...ct_detail&p=260
5. Very jealous - YOB for me too, but very happy for you...she's a true beauty
6.
The answer is obvious. It's all in the name. So one of these:
Arrrggghh - retraumatised
7.
I know you say you don't want a MIM but... their Classic 50 series is really good. And the RoadWorn too.
Just got a Classic 50's P in a recent trade - I'm totally blown away by it to be honest, possibly the best P to have passed my way to date. The neck is wider than i'd prefer but the thin depth makes it a joy to play with my sausage fingers. I can't believe how great they sound at stock too. To the OP i wouldn't dismiss the newer MIM 'special models' i.e Nates, Roadworn, 50's etc
8. Was fortunate to support the Ozrics back in the 90's, they're a lovely bunch indeed. Think Zia was the bassist then. RIP the legend that is Roly. If you like Ozrics Bubinga then check out some Gong too, one for the bassists is a tune called Sprinkling of Clouds (ask yourself what time signature)...also Pierre Morlen's Gong are awesome Good to see Joe Hinton from Ozrics the other month rocking out with Gong bassist Mike Howlett & Steffi Shapsyrings on guitar; a band called Sentient...also worth a YouTube look 😎
9. Got a hankering to try a Peavey Axcelerator bass if anyone's selling? No doubt my umpteenth 5 string Lakland or Yamaha will pass my way again, only be sold until the next 😂
10.
I've become slightly obsessed with the bass line on this over the past few days after hearing it played in a shop recently. I can't believe I never noticed how brilliant it is before. http://youtu.be/qR9x7_refwY
+1...I'm with you dude
11.
Phew. I have nothing to put them in and I was still considering them.
Me three
12. Etienne is a top chap, great communications throughout. Bought a Radial Bigshot from him, item was perfect for my needs and Etienne was supportive despite a credit card blunder by my credit card service. Highly recommend and 100% trustworthy Merry Christmas
13. Bought a pickup from Lozz, he kindly replied to my wanted add. Total gent and a pleasure as always. 100% trustworthy. Merry Christmas
14. Did a recent bass trade with Lloyd. Totally smooth, honest, no hassles, and great communications throughout. A pleasure to deal with. BC's can deal in confidence. Thanks matey
15. Met with Pawel in a lovely cottage in Somerset. Did a trade for his Lakland P and all went smoothly as expected. Pawel (and his girlfriend) are lovely people and 100% trustworthy, basschatters can deal in total confidence as he is a total credit to the forum........and true to his word he makes great coffee! Hope we get to deal and/or meet again - all the best from the Family Stone
16. £50 for the pedal bay 80, light large pedal board with carry bag
17. Mike Howlett Roly Wynn Bootsy Collins Aston Familyman Barrett Jaco Pastorius Louis Johnson Larry Graham Victor Wooten Marcus Miller Flea
18. I've seen familyman playing a Hohner B bass with The Wailers about 10 years ago...as always he sounded sublime. More recently I've seen players playing all types of basses with the Jazz being less popular these days. A good Steinberger does the trick too.
19. Big fan here! Used to back an artist called Daddy Teacha on bass with The Rooticals, loved replicating his synth bass lines live. Totally love that UK roots vibe. Steve 'Vibronics' is your man for UK roots
