1. I enjoy trying lots of different basses and never get attached to anything I plan to sell....apart from my Limelight P I sold a few months back. So much so I went to my Devon Limelight friend yesterday and alas I went for the Thin Lizzy Precision...feels like coming home..and it did. Gigged as well last night, love it. There's a little bit of magic in every limelight I've tried...magic I rarely get in other Precisions
2. I got one of these for £24, so far very impressed 👍🏾
3. Anyone....great upgrade for your jazz
4. Have always liked the outro on the Chili Pepper's 'Sir Psycho Sexy', not the most technical but I like it. Also the spacey groove outro on Gong's 'Flying teapot'.
5. Limelight or Lakland Duck Dunn spring to mind. The Farida's as mentioned are great too
6.
Not an amp expert but my first thought is it the tube in the pre amp? I say that as it filters out eventually, is it going as the tube warms up?. And too add I have read the amp will work with no tube so if you know what your doing then no harm in pulling the tube and it running all solid state if it still does it then least you know it's Not the tube, if it is the tube then an easy fix. PLEASE don't go poking around in the amp if you ain't sure though and know the dangerous etc!!!
Cheers for that. Good thinking about the tube. The tube is sadly soldered to the board on these babies. I have a dial on the front to switch between solid state and tube...i'll leave it on the solid state setting and see if i still get the problem. Despite being a social worker now, my first career was as an electrical engineer so am ok delving in...that said i was terrible with electronics which is why I'm probably a social worker now haha
7. Sold my Sire V7 5 string to Ian, a pleasure to deal with throughout - a credit to basschat
8. Just purchased a wonderful USA Musicman Sub from Dunc. Dunc was a true gent and pleasure to deal with throughout - definitely one of the good guys and I highly recommend.
9. Hi all, My Markbass amp is making a fizzy farty noise randomly with nothing plugged in to the amp but the speaker. Have changed speakers/leads and still have the same issue, so definitely the amp. It makes a loud buzz, hissing noise (no snake inside ) and then tends to filter out after about 30 seconds or so..... Sound familiar to anyone????...any tips greatly appreciated Anyone know a good repairier near the SouthWest...i bought this amp via here so no warranty sadly. Cheers
10. What trades you looking for?
11.
Great basses...congrats!
Yeah I never really got the appeal but I got some great warm tones having a little play earlier
12. Just changed my pre to an ACG filter type so this beauty is now surplus. I would describe it as very clean, hifi sounding and articulate. It also has the pull passive switch on the volume control should your battery die. Complete with shiny silver knobs. You'll need a 9V battery connector lead as my ACG didn't come with one so have used the previous - if i find one in the meantime however i'll solder one on. So it'll need 3 holes in your bass, pots seems approx 2 x 6mm and 1 x 8/9mm for the stacked pot. Configuration is 2 band - volume, stacked treble/bass and balance. All in a quality bit of kit Would trade for a decent Envelope filter or synth pedal, can add cash either way otherwise £100 posted Reduced to £80
13. Well, i had my Spector Rebop (admittedly roadworn) and Fender Kingsman up for sale here with little progress. I advertised them both locally this weekend and rather quickly got offered a beautiful and well looked after 2006 Warwick Thumb BO4 for the two. Initially I was a little skeptical having never tried a Thumb and years ago I used think what a Fugly looking piece of wood they were. Anyhow, lovely local basser who I'd never met before turns up at my gaff earlier today, we get on well, i try the thumb and we agree on the exchange..... And to be honest I haven't put the bass down since! I'm not sure if its the electrics but it seems leagues ahead of my Warwick Corvette, i assume that had cheaper electronics and despite having since changed them for Bartolini's I'm still not totally happy with the Corvette sound wise - however I'm hoping the incoming arrival of an ACG pre shortly should solve that. But back to the Thumb, bloody wow, solid tone, amazingly built, massive sustain and a great range of solid defined tones...did i mention great tone - perhaps this must be the real Warwick tone people talk off ??? or is that a myth ???. I'm surprised how much i like this, very suprised.....but we're on the honeymoon start I guess. But it just goes to show the bass you don't know can knock your socks off sometimes...that said it'll probably be up for sale in a month being the fickle number 3 bass changer that i am...got an early feeling though that this one could move up to the number two spot....thumbs up! 14. Still got my mid 90's Acid Jazz logo t-shirt...bit small these days and full of a lot of burn holes...ahem!
15. Offers & part trade towards an envelope filter ir synth pedal
16. Bump for a great acoustic bass with thin jazz neck & blocks, Fishman pre with built in tuner
17. In my time, James Brown, Pierre Morlin's Gong, Ozrics with Roly on bass, Culture with Joseph Hill, & Bob Marley
18.
Bargain!!!!
Yeah I think so too but alas no one spending on a top quality built Czechoslovakian beauty akin to a top of the range Warwick body style. Would love to trade for a P or Jazz with cash adjustments adjustments as necessary and certainly very minor ones from me Doesn't have to be Fender either ...a Squier CV precision and cash my way perhaps
19. SIRE Sold, Kingsman is still gorgeous and still available
20.
So what's the neck like on the kingsman? Jazz like?. I've just bought a Takamine electric acoustic which I love but the neck is much wider than I like.
Very Jazz like if not identifcal, it's rather amazing actually. It also has a Fishman Pre.
