1. If you PM me your email I can probably scan the dots and email. Good tip - tone mostly or all off to taste, play close to neck for fatter tone, neck pick up if more than one and you could also try playing with your thumb to see if that works best. Buffalo Soldier is a good fun song to play, Three little birds is a doddle too
2.
The red P isn't there anymore
I was almost going to have that one
3.
Devon, I believe.
Correct, Mark is indeed a fellow Devonian. My Limelight P bass is 8.5lbs also. Karlfer, your green/tort jazz is simply stunning...I love it. Nice weight too as my 74 jazz (mostly retired for the occasional reggae gig) is nearly 12lbs. My Limelight P has become my goto bass for my functions band...now sporting a Detuner and a Wizard trad pick up.
4.
We demand a thread. Getting close to possibly somebody starting a Limelight Porn thread?

Yes you should. Pics, or it didn't happen!
Yes, yes, yes...i'm on it soon. Too busy playing the darn thing the for the longy's posts...in between job applications, babies meh meh meh xxx ...and yes the pickguard is pizza:
5. Just got in from a strange Monday night wedding gig...bizarre on a school night. Anyhow second time this weekend my 70's Limelight P has been out and I absolutely love it, changed the pick up though to a wizard trad, the original was ok but I just think the wizard trad has the edge a bit. Anyhow... I love my Limelight and should do a NBD although I've had it for around a month or so ...can't believe I'm enjoying a Precision as well...ahem
6. +1 for Tom Anfield, legendary! Also I was quite impressed with Rich in Sound Unlimited in Plymouth.
7.
Very busy summer - normally two weddings a weekend, with the occasional Thursday pub gig. Loving it - and the cash!
Same boat! I'm actually quite liking the functions/wedding scene...often get well fed, looked after and decent pay for playing bass all over Devon/Cornwall...what's not to like
8. SOLD: I got this little wonderful combo off here recently and it really surprised me what a great, and light, combo it is. It stood up really well with volume left in a 7 piece soul outfit in the two gigs i have done with it. However I've since acquired a Genz combo and don't really need two similar combo's...although i can happily live with the TC if it doesn't sell/trade. Whilst both the Genz & TC sound great I'm keeping the Genz as its louder and i can get 500W which is useful for the bigger gigs. So this amp is a BG250 115 Mark1, perfect condition with RockSolid cover. Plays well, loud and plenty of tone prints ready to be uploaded which is a feature i quite liked. The original for sale thread and pictures are here: http://basschat.co.u...81#entry2496281 I'd really welcome trades on this, in particular a Genz Benz Contour extension cab - either the 15" or 2x10" , or a small light amp head 200W plus, or a Genz Focus 1x12" cab, or a Lindy Fralin Precision pick up or £200 The combo is located in Devon, happy to send via courier etc.
9. Top notch as always. Paul is a pure credit to basschat, buyers sellers will have no probs with this guy
10. Could be up for this too if I'm not gigging
11. Orange sorted my out of warranty OTB, mine was also a 2010. It was only a loose large capacitor, however Orange put the newer circuit boards in which also sorted out the hot DI. Top customer service and didn't cost a penny.
12.
This. If you don't like the number, why are you playing it. If it bores you, try to put your stamp on it. If you can't, chuck it out.
Thinking about the weddings scene in particular, sadly sometimes we don't have the luxury on the choice of music! Typically I am either out voted by the majority in the band if challenging a number I don't like, or it's been requested by punters as a wedding first dance (some being so bad that I have erased from my mind), or it's on the set list when depping at short notice for other bands... I agree though that a little self signature is always a bit more gratifying on a tedious track. But heck if the monies right I'll play Justin Beaner or whatever his name is note for note
13. I find 'Higher & Higher' tedious...particularly as i was requested to put in less fills ...'Hit the Road Jack' is a bit ploddy too, great tune though.
14. Met with Dave at a service station on the M5, we battled the slow tourist traffic from both our directions but eventually met up in good time. Top fella, and great communications throughout, another credit to basschat - buyers/sellers can deal with confidence and of course thanks for the Genz Dave
15.
Don't take this wrong way but I liked the tort guard mark gave you more than the spitfire one, so I think I'm gonna stick with mine. I'm sure the bank manager will thank me for that decision too!
I'm still waiting on my tort plate from Mark, he did email to say there is a slight delay. I've gigged my P twice now and have been very happy indeed although at last nights gig I thought the E string appeared a little bit weaker than the others. However a quick string change and perhaps raise the pick up slightly may sort that out; tonight's wedding gig will be the acid test. I'm waiting for the bass to be complete before I do a RNBD (recent), plus it will have had several gigs under its belt..but so far I'm very, very impressed with my Limelight P, in fact I'm quite surprised I'm liking the P as much as I do...certainly easier on my back than my nearly 12lb J bass
16. Bargain for £165. I picked up one of these combo's off here recently and have nothing but praise for it to be honest, i wasn't expecting much but really enjoyed gigging it in a 7 piece soul act last weekend - brilliant for the money. GLWTS
17.
Thank you. Now slightly obsessed with this band already. The Bear Creek 2011 gig on YouTube is excellent.
My pleasure, I'm working my way through their back catalogue and loving them
18. Yummy, i like....i'm considering
19.
Point me in the direction of some!
'The New Mastersounds' are doing it for me
20. Great album...Skunk Funk in my bones
21. Haha, was funny reading this as i thought I can effectively contribute!!! I have past owned a WT550, only a few days ago sold my Genz Streamliner 900 in favour of keeping my Carvin BX1500....not tried the Carvin B series however - i think i remember reading the B2000 was a warmer sounding amp. All three amps mentioned are fantastic amps IMO. Eden, brilliant amp, warm sounding, goes to 2ohms, probably the heaviest...fantastic tones, paramentric is great,, i mostly played reggae when i owned the Eden...superb amp 9/10. I wouldn't swap my Carvin for an Eden WT550 but i preferred this amp over the Genz. Genz, agree will Molan about the wooly vibe, i liked it a lot but i could never get a tone i really liked for my soul band, yet it was great in my reggae band. I found i struggled to get the mids right when gigging and was forever fiddling. That said it is a great amp, well built and looks fantastic - i feel i preferred it over the Orange terror bass that i had beforehand but that was mostly due to having more eq flexibility by contrast. 8/10 Carvin BX1500, far from the other two in terms of vintage sounding...i would say super clean, perhaps entertaining this 'hifi' sound people on here mention. But with the eq i find that i can pretty much get a tone I like for anything...it is soooo flexible housing two amps, can mix cabs, 1.5k bridged - loads of headroom, does 2 ohms, parametric eq, bi amping, less than 11lbs weight and 2U for your rack. It doesn't really do the vintage thing but i'd use my Zoom B3 in future to get some warmth. I did use an Ampeg pre into the Carvin which made for a great set up and gave the sound that more vintage vibe. Anyhow, recently I decided to keep the Carvin and easily a 9/10...it'd get 10 if the 12AX7 tube actually did something...maybe i'll change it one day to see if it has any effect.
22. Yes fantastic basses, I have the P bass and previously owned the bass Pinball is referring too. A lot of bass for the money. I treated my P to a BassDoc tort guard and changed the pick up for an SD one, the stock pick up was really good but I prefer the SD for a more vintage sound. The P's have jazz width necks too. So yeah I highly rate Farida's and mine has been with me for a few months now...which is a miracle in my books
