Nearest metal containing strings to Silver Slaps in feel?
slobluesine replied to Clarky's topic in EUB and Double Bass
you could bump some Spiros down Clarky, get a high C for the G, real nice low tension i bump Spiro A&D to E&A and use lambert Deluxe D&G, lamberts have no steel so no good for mag pup, but the tension is nice and even and the slight tone difference isn't a problem when amplified loud with some EQ -
i think it will apply to any piezo pickup being used with the bassbone
-
came across this on another forum Happy Jack... "Sounds like you have the impedance set wrong. Plug into input one. next to that is a small hole labeled PZB-1. with a nail, needle file, or something, press the recessed button in the small hole to turn on the piezo buffer. This should reduce the harshness of the piezo and reduce the gain slightly. Turn up the gain on input one to sound as loud as before. Now your bass should sound warmer."

Schatten RB1 and TM piezo pickups
slobluesine replied to Clarky's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
as i was the @*&$ who recommended and sold these to Clarky i think i should chip in with these quotes from other users... Taco Daves..... "Get em while they are hot people! These are high quality pickups and sound great. I would compare them to the deep lows of an Underwood with more volume and have a nice natural tone" Taco Daves V RB1 "I have both, and like them both. Dave's pickup is really tough made construction, no dainty little wires. Dave's pickup is more like a Bass Max in tone IMO than the RB-1. I think the RB-1 has a more complex tone, in the mids, but may not be as feedback resistant. The Taco Dave pickup has alot of bass, and picks up slap sounds well also. Overall I'd say that Dave's pickups are fatter sounding, and the RB-1 has more mids. The Taco Dave pickup is kinda like a Bass Max on steroids" -
a swift smack with a baseball bat would get the cutaway effect i think

Marshall MB 4410... PROBLEMS...HELP PLEASE!
slobluesine replied to MiK3 STRAT MAN's topic in Amps and Cabs
i had this on an MB amp and it was the return input (or maybe send) stick a stereo jack in and see if it stops it, not that easy to replace either, in fact nothing is easy to replace on those amps whch doesn't help cos they're notoriously unreliable dogs i got rid of mine oh yeah, from memory the pot on the back has a similar cut out effect too, not sure if the combo has that or what it actually did, but it shorts out -
Its not worth much, and it's not a good back up bass, novelty value ? landfill ? Kay did make some decent gear but IMO anything with the coat hanger wire string retainer is not worth the bother. All my opinion.
hmmmnn..... http://www.gbase.com/gear/kay-k162-electri...s-1954-sunburst stick it on Ebay and i think you'll be surprised very popular guitars in the US now, along with Harmony's and Silvertone's, they've re-issued the K162.
