1.
Ouch! I feel for you mate. Oddly enough, I've had the same weekend as you but with opposite outcomes.... Filmed a video on Friday Night and Saturday morning, then played a gig on Saturday night, which due to extra time on the footie and the inevitable lagered up morons, ended up with some pi55ed up feckwit stumbling onstage and knocking my bass off its stand onto a tiled floor. Luckily she's a tough old bird and no damage was sustained. Which is more that I can say for the feckwit...
piss'd up feckwits and 78x198 doors, deffo in the top 5 things to avoid with an upright bass and why is it piss'd up feckwits are so attracted to upright basses?
2. double Bugga Clarky, doors are the pits hey, not high enough or wide enough oh yeah, they ALWAYS open the wrong way too.

12. the musical transformation was something else too, from rock n roll covers band to Sgt Peppers in 5 years
13.
Search Youtube for the transatlantic sessions series 2. Danny is all over it.
i was thinking John Martyn, like Clarky's clip
14. that's how an upright bass should sound, so, so good hey, nice one Clarky, is that a one off or is there more?
15. Trying pickups and pre's is an expensive hobby, particularly if the only reason you are going through hoops is down to loud drummers and guitarists who cant play quiet. Jazz and folk upright players generally don’t have feedback problems, it's mainly the poor sods who are trying to compete with band members who don’t appreciate what an upright bass should sound like and really only want to hear an electric. I've had a guitarist band leader insist on upright bass and after a request that maybe we turn down bit i get "sorry mate i dont do quiet" brought my Fender to the next gig and that's the last one i did. The louder you go with upright the more it has to sound like an electric, i think that's what the pickups that are less prone to feedback do, my Schatten RB1 is great but it's very middy and electric sounding, no one notices or cares at high sound levels tho, the main object is that it doesn't feedback.
16. good luck, hope it does the trick the invisible covers don't have to be super airtight to work, some folks only plug one side. you do need lots of gaffer layers tho, it didn't take any varnish off my bass and i did it lots before i fitted the plugs.
17. just put it on for a gig and if it helps find a permanent solution, i tried the double sound post and it made no difference. my Kay was a nightmare with feedback until i blocked the f/holes and beleive me i can get LOUD now, i'm often told to turn down. i think the thick gaffa layers also kill some of the excessive vibration from loud drummers/guitarists on the top of the bass. Schatten RB1 pickup is also great, very loud feedback resistant pup. invisible f/hole covers..... http://www.doublebasschat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5907 bit of a frig but i managed it
18. have you tried plugging your f/holes artisan? at least 4 layers of gaffa tape is needed, single layer is no good
