1.
A disagreement.
This. Though by definition, I have nullified it by agreeing with you... Doh! Sorry.
2.
Whoever buys it might not care, but there's a few folk on here who do care, will find out and will bust your chops about how much you paid for it. Not that it's any of their bloody business, but hey ho.
That's one of the unfortunate things about forums, a lot are like an episode of Eastenders - some shouty people telling other people what they think they ought to do. If I'm selling something, it's my thing and I'll set the price.
3. You could say the cost of having it delivered is the price you pay for buying something without trying it first... I don't think there's any 'should I, shouldn't I?' argument, it'll sell for whatever it's worth. Whoever buys it won't know (or care) what you paid for it. I bought a little Vox T-25 combo a little while back from eBay. I paid £54 iirc, and collected it from the guys house as it was 'sort-of' on the way home. I sold it recently for £100 + postage, having decided on a whim that I wanted something LOUDER! Result. I was very very happy indeed to sell it for more than I had paid. I advertised it honestly, presented it neatly and it found it's own value.
4.
C'mon guys, it's finally some good radio-friendly rock 'n' roll (it's been a little while). This kind of music isn't particularly about creating intricate songs with elaborate soundscapes. It's about creating loud angry riffs. They do that pretty well, with the added bonus of it only being two people, which is quite a cool little niche. I like 'em.
I like 'em too, great drumming, and a loud guitar, does me nicely. They give some very odd interviews too, which makes me smile. And they're local boys, so I'll wave the RB flag a little more vigorously than I otherwise might.
5. Hi mate, 'tis a nice place, welcome
6.
One thing I always find offputting is when the sellers describe additional routing but don't show pictures of it, immediately makes me think "hack job".
Yep - tbh, I'd be up there for a look under the scratchplate before I parted with any cash. Could go either way really couldn't it? They've got some lovely kit for sale on their site though, the Overwater Jazz in Satin Sunburst is making my wallet tingle...
7. Not by the looks of it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/27173280 Not Glastonbury at any rate...
8. Yum. Only listening on my phone but sounds great.
9.
Take it from a man who knows, a kazoo up the arse gives a sound, feel and energy that is totally unique.
Take what from a man who knows? A used kazoo...? Don't you just get lots of bum notes?
10.
Ummm, clever. But would any of you have given them much thought if you hadn't realised that was only a bassist?
I didn't realise it was just the two of them, cos I heard before I saw. He could be playing a kazoo up his ar5e for all I care, it's the sound, the feel and the energy of the tracks I like. I have to agree though, that they may be a one-trick pony. Time well tell.
11.
Why is this unit any better than a standard soldering iron ?
Because it's controllable heat. How many dinners would you burn if your oven only did 'max'? I use temperature controlled soldering stations at work because the stuff I solder isn't always the same, due to... Different PCB construction, different solder pad sizes, different components, some components are more sensitive to heat than others (so I have to be careful not to smoke them!), different solder types melt at different temperatures. If you're soldering wires together or into connectors, they will often be different thicknesses, the insulation will be of a different type (PVC melts, PTFE doesn't), some will take the heat and some will just melt, etc etc etc. But at home, I have an old, non-adjustable iron. It's fine for most things, but it won't do heavy stuff and it won't do delicate stuff. If that's your soldering 'world', then a cheap 'stick' type iron will be just dandy. A 60W soldering station for £30? I'm in (bet you a quid the cable is crap though...)
12. I really should be working, can you stop this nonsense now please - it's just too interesting! Great thread, really great thread.
13. I had the great privilege to meet the great man (again) on Easter Sunday at this gig. I go all the time with my old man and it's very cool to watch old Herbie with his rose-tints firmly in place spin the clock back with some great tunes. He gave the Jazz a good outing this time, normally it spends 95% of the gig on its stand while he plays the upright, but he must have used it for half the set and it sounds wonderful. We has a few minutes chat at the end, he spoke to my young son who we take along for the experience - he really seems to love going. Herbie is a true gentleman, always got time to talk, shake some hands and spend time with the little'un. As you can imagine, he's full of stories too. He's doing ok for 70-something I reckon. If ever you get the chance to go, don't pass it up. It's not all jazz either (if that's not your bag), they did Walk On The Wild Side and Space Oddity this time, amongst other classics. Loved it.
14. Sounds like a great project bud - liking those songs. Good news
15.
3. Has anyone got an image of the rear of the amp and the connections. Mr google has not been my friend in this search, or my google skills have been rubbish.
I don't own one, but it seems I may be a half-decent Google-wrangler. It seems the squeaker is just wired to an o/p socket on the base of the amp. So I guess you could unplug and run a lead to another cab, or just use the 'speaker out' connector. Hope that helps.
16.
From the childrens tv show Zingzillas ... Dreaming 'bout bananas ... Stuart Zender, funking it out ... Great bass line ...
I'm playing this at work right now, I'm glad they think I'm weird already... 'Dreaming 'bout bananas' - love it.
17. Has this got a 12 or a 15 in bud? Ta.
18.
Good noisy stuff.
Yup. Love them. Still can't comprehend how all that lovely racket is just a bass and a kit. Royal Blood broke my work pc speakers, excellent!
19. Love a bit of Herbie - anyone been to his Jazz Breakfast gigs in Brighton? Awesome, it's like winding the clock back and he is a lovely chap.
20. Hi mate *waving
21. That's lovely buddy, just what I need to wind down before going home, my office has become a dingy (no, not a small boat), smoky jazz club. Love it.
22. That's a lot of waffle for a bit of second-hand string. Prize for creative writing?
23. Thanks bud, will peruse the calendar...
24. I've kind of come at this 'issue' from another angle. I've had this old bass forever and a day, played a little bit when I got it, then for one reason or another lost interest. Recently I had the opportunity to play with some like-minded idiots and this sparked my interest again. I figured a new 'toy' would gee me up a bit and I bought a like-new RBX374. The difference is...Night. And. Day. Everything about the Yamaha is different - it's lighter, the body fits mine better, the action is waaaaay lower - it's so much easier to play it ain't true, and the noise it makes.....the noise it makes just sets my trousers on fire. I am absolutely besotted with the thing (can you tell!) but it was £125. You see, I'd only ever played that one old bass, so had nothing to compare it with - I thought all basses had skyscraper-high action and weighed a ton. It took the impulse purchase of a new bass to teach me that there were infinitely better instruments that I could afford, and by owning one I have plunged back in. And it's very cool. And it was cheap. Really cheap. Will I 'outgrow' it? Dunno, but it feels nice and it plays nice and it sounds like an angry bear so I doubt I'll outgrow it anytime soon.
