1. Once in 27 years (and the break was about 23 years ago). I recall that I was picking aggressively and close to the bridge. D string.
2. My wife is in a folk band and plays bass on 50% of there set plus my eldest daughter is learning bass. So, no bass haters at casa Nada. The only problem is that they can only play the short scale basses.
3. My very first combo did this. It still does it 26 years later but otherwise works just fine.
4.
One more than the Beatles 😉
The Stones had three great drummers? 😉
5. I have one those plastic boxes security firms use to carry cash around. It's super strong, spacious and the envy of many. I've been using it for over 20 years. I found it in the back of an abandoned shop (sadly with no cash in it).
6. How did he pay? If it was PayPal their buyer protection doesn't apply to items collected in person. Not sure that'll help, but it does give the buyer less leverage.
7. Posted to deanovw today. Enjoy.
8. Anyone want this? I'll send it to the first person who wants it, on the condition they pass it one when they've read it. 9. Very nice. Did you have the neck pocket cut square to fit the Tele neck?
10. Nice. And why wouldn't you at £70.
11. I've got a set of unopened Ernie Balls I bought in 1997. I think I'll wait another 20 years or so before I use them. I'll report back on here when I do 😂
12. Thanks for the responses.
13. Yes, but I usually wait for a punter to tell me I'm playing it wrong before I listen to the original properly.
14.
Carvin sold a broadly similar bass, which was simply a re-branded Tiesco instrument: http://www.carvinmuseum.com/decade/66-basses.html
The body shape and pickguard look identical. The neck and headstock a little different - a later model?? Thanks for the link.
15. A friend has acquired this Bass from a colleague. Any ideas what it might be (I'm guessing late 70s catalogue POS). It's 30" scale. I think it looks kinda cool... 16. A red Marlin Slammer, bought second hand in 1989. I somehow managed to snap a small section off the pickguard of when I fell off a drummers Bass drum mid-song. I gave it away about 6 years ago and have come to regret it. I'm still a P-Bass man though. 17. I've finally got round to doing this mod on my Squire Telebass. It does indeed tame the tone.
18.
Tell me about it, I was at that one Faith No More and Soundgarden were class though.
I was there too. My memory is that GnR were pretty good that day. Edit: Just found this, I'm not sure I dare watch it and soil my memory. HTTPS://youtu.be/cl51Wi_sWTE
19. This thread gives some further options/opinions, including wiring a switch in. It's about humbucker Telebasses but the same principles will apply. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/squier-vm-tb-tele-bass-mod-how-to-fix-your-mudbucker.555919/
20.
+1. You really can't beat white, black and maple.
+2.
21. I've spent time thinking about this myself and I've come to the conclusion that the best thing to do is buy one of these Warmoth 8 String necks, which have a standard Fender pocket fit, and fit it a Fender/Squier body of your own choice. http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Neck/8String.aspx Should come in around your budget too.
22. Thanks Zenitram, I'll look into those.
23.
How much are you prepared to spend?
About £60 for a musical instrument, more if it would double as an attractive stool in the kitchen.
24. My wife has asked for a Cajon. Recommendations welcome.
25. I love it. Perhaps you could put some pics and details of the construction in the Build Diary section? I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd be interested.
